Guys, I tried to overclock my dual core cpu from 2.2Ghz to 2.67Ghz (800Mhz FSB) (20% OC). I'm using Asus' P5KPL Intel G31 mobo with maximum of 1333Mhz FSB and 1Gb Kingston DDR2 RAM running at 667Mhz. I'm using a standard cooling system. Any suggestion on what's the maximum speed for me to OC using this normal cooling system?

QUOTE(skymyxe @ Jan 20 2008, 11:15 AM) Try to OC your CPU without increasing the VCore. Get a stable speed and monitor the temperature. Gradually increase your bus speed and VCore if it can't boot. Again monitor your temperature. There's no fix speed on stock cooling. It depends on many things such as ambient, airflow and so on. The best is not to exceed 65C on 100% load test. Then you'll be fine with your system. gee..thanks much for the advice.. Added on January 20, 2008, 11:33 amOne more thing.. If I really do success to OC it very high.. I'm afraid there'll be a long term effects? Wouldnt it? This post has been edited by hazairi: Jan 20 2008, 11:35 AM |

I hv a Pentium Dual Core running at 2.2Ghz. I'm using an Asus-P5KPL mboard using Intel G31 chipset. Currently I'm overclocking it to 2.67Ghz (20%) using a standard cooler. I plan to oc it till 50% but kinda afraid if it wipes. Currently I'm using a standard Kingston 1 Gb DDR2 RAM running at 677Mhz. Any suggestion guys?

QUOTE(rozz_1291 @ Jan 23 2008, 01:27 PM) 330x10... Added on January 23, 2008, 1:28 pm ok.... Added on January 23, 2008, 1:30 pm Hi, R u using da E2200 Dual Core??? Added on January 23, 2008, 1:31 pm Sure indeed any advice? Added on January 23, 2008, 2:25 pm QUOTE(skymyxe @ Jan 23 2008, 12:17 PM) Loose timings can go for higher speeds. By the way, I think 2.0V wouldn't produce much heat, but RAM cooler would come in handy to make sure your RAM's chip are always cooled. Thanks for the advice..Maybe I'll go buy a small cheap mini bar fridge and modify it to my casing for extreme cooling.. hmm Added on January 23, 2008, 2:28 pm QUOTE(skymyxe @ Jan 23 2008, 12:15 PM) Any increase in VCore? Try to increase the bus speed without increasing the VCore and make sure it's stable. If need to increase voltage then monitor your temperature closely. Better to not let it go over 70C at full load using your stock cooler. It's an aluminium based cooler I assume and the thermal conductivity shouldn't be the best. So, beware of your temperature first when OCing. Sorry, wrongly quoted.. This post has been edited by hazairi: Jan 23 2008, 02:28 PM |

QUOTE(rozz_1291 @ Jan 23 2008, 04:12 PM) Ahah.... finally ... welcome 2 da club... Sorry for the late reply..Well it performed well, I only have the guts to OC it from 2.2Ghz to 2.67Ghz (20%). Coz i'm using standard cooling that came from the cpu. I would really love to OC it till 3Ghz. Wait till I buy a powerful cooler. A small fridge maybe.. |

QUOTE(a1098113 @ Jan 27 2008, 12:09 AM) @rozz hmm..i dont believe in WC in this country ler. Unless your room is AC cooled. Its better to go on air. WC is a waste of money for normal room temps. Added on January 27, 2008, 12:11 am@haz aduh! not about the thermal paste la adik, thermal paste only reduces a tad bit, its about how you play with your Vcore. The lower Vcore u take to achive high clocks is better due to the fact that Vcore is directly related to the heat which is dissipated... thanks for the advice.. |

QUOTE(rozz_1291 @ Jan 27 2008, 12:19 AM) Not dat expensive... So mr a1098113..But, apply diffrnt or better thermal paste juz makes a little diffrnt decrease in ur temp.... It depend also like VCore n casing air flow.... ask @a1098113 he knows better than me.... should I buy the thermal paste above? |

Guys, when I oc'ed my E2200 till 30%, sumtimes my hdisk can't be read in XP..
I have to bring it back to 20% oc. Is that a normal symptoms if OC too high? This post has been edited by hazairi: Feb 12 2008, 09:42 PM |
