Yikes, my hand got itchy and i took off the stock cooler, cleaned everything and install it back with AS5. Idle temperature used to be 26c. Now, its already at 40c. Darn..Must be something wrong during installation. Not too used with the HSF of Intel.

Really waiting for my Freezer. Reverted everything back to stock cause i am worried i might fry my processor...

Pardon me but could you explain more on this? I dont really get it..Sorry for my noobiness..LOL...

Anyway, would it be due to Vista? Previous temperature (from bios) was on XP. New temperature was on Vista.

when u mount the cooler, it has 4 pins right

1 3

2 4

imagine the above numbers are the pins, press down onto 1, then 4, then 3 then 2, to make an X pattern so the pressure is even

Ok..I am kinda getting freak out here. What WILL happen if i put "too" much preasure?Sorry but i had never been on Intel platform before and is kinda new to this new push pin thingy on the Intel Stock Cooler. Was adapted to the AMD type.. tongue.gif

Does this mean, i should :

- Push the pin down first

- Then, twist the pin to lock it?

But how do i know whether i push enough down? With the click sound? rclxub.gif

Edited :

OT: Just wondering, do you guys know whether there is a better mounting kit (like the screw ones from Xigmatek) for the Freezer 7? I kinda dislike the clip on (stock) mounting already.. tongue.gif

It is not easy to seat heatsink on 775.All the contact meet with motherboard hole, make sure all the clip is opposite arrow direction, push down diagonally(1-3,2-4) until you hear the click sound.Be careful, easy to break the clip.

Ok..Got the info there rozz_1291. Thanks alot...

Never knew about those easy to break clips though..LOL..I always thought they are built strong..

Anyway, didnt have the chance to reseat the heatsink yesterday. Back from work too late. But i did check the temperature and the idle temperature as said, has fallen from 40c to 35c yesterday.

the clips are designed to take vertical stress/pressure, not horizontal

thats why if you bend it a little and press it down it will break.
