I think it's better to change your board than the CPU for now.

You should get a board which allows you to control voltages and that helps a lot smile.gif There are lots of IP35-E for sale in Garage Sales so you might want to consider that.

P31 is only a tad cheaper than P35 so why not get the better board with RM30 extra? biggrin.gif

the only difference i found between these 2 boards, is only the gb Lan which the IP35 had. while both overclocks well.

and the amount of cache? it did have impact on performance if it is only 512kb per core.

Hi guys,

I'm looking for the M0 stepping for the E2140. Can I know which week is famed for its oc-ability ? Need ur expert opinion.

Also, for those who wants to buy E 2160 and e2180, price drop expected around 21st jan, just to share some info.

basically, it's cherry picking. there's no way to tell a good M0 or a bad 1. Some has good M0 like claw, some has a dud.

basically, they 'should' easily go 3ghz, 3.2ghz is already an achievement

Noted it. Thanks for the advice. I'll try to google some info later tonite.

I'm interested to try 3.2GHz type. But is it very mobo dependant ? I mean, let say if use Asus P5K compare with Gigabyte P35-DS3 ?

Added on January 11, 2008, 5:19 pmMy OC-guru kucingfight also sells CPU. Perhaps you guys can get some from him smile.gif

my mistake. feature wise, both are almost same. P31 is basically a strip down version of P35, performance wise, dont think any difference between P31 and P35.

im looking for some cheap 2140 + either Ip35-e or p31-s3L mobo. he sells mobo also?

E2140 retails are already very cheap and it's basically a stripped down version of C2D's. My suggestion is to get a P35 chipset board (Abit or Gigabyte is up to you) and don't save that RM30 then regret later smile.gif

any cheap P35 boards will do, DS3, IP35E etc. The FSB wall on E2xxx will always be a limit. (pressumely u've got good HSF, PSU etc
IMO, scaling above 3.2ghz is tough, even tho it's possible, the heat output/+Vcore isnt economical for 24/7.
