QUOTE(alexnvidia @ Jul 20 2007, 07:28 AM) Hi to all, im starting this topic as im seeing increasing number of Inspiron 1520 users here. This thread is dedicated for dell's latest inspiron 1520. feel free to discuss anything here. to all the new owners here, i have a few questions 1. do you guys notice any noise when using headphone? or hear any faint noise (not fan or dvd drive or hdd), sounded like chirping (suspected "capacitor ringing") on your inspiron? 2. anyone surpassed 3xxx on 3Dmark06? 3. how much did you all pay for your 1520 and specs? 4. any build quality difference between vostro 1500 and inspiron 1520? how much 4 this model currently?

AUO = AU Optronics. they are a major LCD manufacturer and many laptop LCDs are produced by them. ok, from your observation, AUO2077 (1440x900) LCD is grainy. anyone else has any other types of LCD on your 1520?

QUOTE(alexnvidia @ Jul 22 2007, 01:14 PM) can you please take a look at your display properties and see who manufactured your LCD and what model is it? you can check it by going into device manager-->monitors-->properties-->details-->then select hardware ids from the drop down menu. i ordered the 1440x900 one too, im not sure which manufacturer made my LCD because i havent received mine. still waiting. will post once i got it. oh my! from the reviews i read, the build quality seems to be good. coating fallen off is outrageous! call their support and bom them! just out of curiosity, why do u have both 1420 and 1520??

not just optoelectronics. there are samsung, LG panels as well. i think dell receive LCD panels from more than just 1 supplier. im trying to track down which manufacturer produces the best LCD panel that doesnt suffer from grainy issues. so far no luck. Actually mine is that noticeable, just sometimes it appears clearer but most of the time I hardly notice it, not a big deal to me anyway.
