Been with unifi from their bonanza promo, and since it’s ending and the plan I have is not with perpetual discount, I will be paying more for it, lowering the plan from 300 to 100 will extend another 24 months which is not what I intend for, hence considering a change.

Comparing on maxis fibre 100mbps, is it good in Sentul/Kepong area?
If intend for switch, is it possible to sign up for maxis and done install, before terminate unifi, or must terminate unifi first on the same premise?

Any advice? Thanks

I received a call from Maxis, saying free upgrade for my unifi line, the sales lady was very cunning, told me they can upgrade my modem for me for free, and can get faster speed at lower cost

lucky I am not stupid, asked many questions and at last found that they just wanted people to switch over to maxis, dont bother about you are on contract or not.

Maxis sales staff is very unprofessional, only profit orientated and no ethics. I hope every one is aware of their scam and dont understand how Maxis can use this type of strategy teaching their staff to be so irresponsible.

Sorry to hear about your experience bro
Although I understand your pain, I m more like wanting to keep my monthly commitment and to avoid a hike, hence comparing. If by facility wise it’s stable vs unifi, I m consider for a try. After all if with unifi, I have to go with 24mth for a less nice pkg anyway

When switching from unifi to maxis, you’ll get a slower response in when you encounter an issue as maxis needs to report to TM if the issue is the fiber to the modem...

Anything after the TM modem is under maxis, anything from the TM modem to the entire fiber run is under TM

You can install Maxis first and then terminate unifi. Maxis will run on lan 2 of your unifi BTU. There is a form which you need to get from Maxis to submit to TMPoint to indicate you have switch to Maxis. Otherwise you will be charge RM500 for not returning the TM BTU.

Yes. Maxis use TM's infra. Only the network routing goes to Maxis own network.

This process no longer apply. The new process is TM will terminate FIRST after 11 days of approval.
If there is any problem in the transfer, you will end up like my case its been A MONTH without fibre line now : https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4984140

Don't simply switch unless you are ready for no fibre for at least A MONTH

wow...din notice about the post update...

FYI I actually did the change back then after a month in FEB...didnt have that happened like your case... Maxis came and installed, and later I arranged to TMPoint for termination (took a bit time as waited for the 1 month notice + failed to go to 1 branch for 1 time), but the termination happened smoothly. Consider a happy MaxisPrime user now...
hope yours get solved soon...

According to one inside source, this process just started in April, and not all their staff are familiar with it. It applies both way from TM to Maxis and from Maxis to TM. Basically once you submit transfer request, the existing ISP will either approve or reject your request to transfer, just like MNP. If existing ISP did not reject it, it will auto approve after 10 working days. Your new ISP can only commence installation once transfer request approved by existing ISP.

Hope for the best for you. Now even Digi is going to use Unifi infra, so more headache for people who wants to switch from one to another.

very much okay, in fact feel better as the latency performance seems better with Maxis...speed wise, I don really heavily need 300Mbps, so I falls back to 100Mbps for Maxis.
and with Maxis Postpaid together, mine become prime plan which gets unlimited data also...
So I just stick to cheapest MaxisOne98...
Service support wise, I had not gotten much chance to experience with any issue *touchwood yet, so no comment...

Do you go through the correct process? To switch from Unifi to Maxis, first you go and register your Maxis Fibre. Bring along your Unifi bill so it's easier for them to trace your address.
After register, bring the transfer ID, go to TMPoint and inform them you want to switch ISP. TM will process the switching in 10 working days and release the line to Maxis. It's just like MNP.
Gone are the days you can install Maxis first then terminate Unifi.

If you cannot walk in to both TM and Maxis center, maybe there's some agent which can help you settle everything.

Thanks for the inputs. I have enquired with Maxis. They said will use the existing port. Waiting for their technical team to provide me the TR code.
Will bring the code to TM point once I have it.

I received the TR code from Maxis yesterday. Did submit to TM on the same day itself and later got a call from Maxis stating the received the request and will call again in few days to set installation appointment. My existing 500mbps can get full speed using 5ghz. Hope I can get the same speed.

In terms of stability, definitely UniFi is much better, been using my Maxis Fibre for around 1 year, facing a lot of issue which including packet loss, ping spike and slow speed during peak hour. The technical team came to my place replaced a new router for me but the problem still persist. I believe the bandwidth of Maxis Fibre around my area is congested, therefore the issue arise only during peak hour. Luckily Maxis Support is surprisingly quite good for my case and their customer service is available 24 hours, currently trying to make a follow up complain to Maxis, hopefully they will fix my issue. Beside this, Maxis One Prime is pretty much worth the money thou, this is the reason I'm still staying with them.

Can I just walk in to any TMpoint branch to send my TR code? Because for termination not all branch can do it. Do I need to return back my unifi router and TV box to them?

You need to go to TMpoint, can't send TR code to TM authorise deeler or those promoter in malls.
Refer here and find the nearest one for termination:
https://unifi.com.my/support/tmpoint

No need to return anything as long as out of contract. Since you are switching ISP, the new ISP also need to use TM's BTU during installation.

Already 2 weeks migration from TM to Maxis... i dont feel any different. Maybe due to using back my Tenda router. When initially using Maxis Archer c5v for few hours I did felt some drop in download speed but once I changed back to Tenda started getting back the same speed as TM.

The Maxis installer did only change the router and connected it to LAN 2. No new fibre rewiring or new modem. I m still wondering if Maxis is having their own fibre bandwidth or its the same as TM's. Maybe some Sifu can enlighten.

Until this moment Maxis still investigating my issue, I've been suffering from slow connectivity for the past 3 weeks already ranting.gif You mentioned after you changed the Archer C5V back to your Tenda the speed back to normal? Is this possible for you to test for me bro? As the router Maxis replace for me is the same model you mentioned.
https://www.meter.net/ping-test/
If you don't mind, can you test your ping by using the website above on both C5V and Tenda? Keen to know if there's any ping spike. My ping is spiking like crazy where it could reach as high as 500ms.

As for your question, Maxis indeed using the infra of TM, therefore there's no need to rewiring the fibre.

Good how’s the process to switch maxis from unifi I’m already fed up with Unifi since they not ready to appreciate their loyal customer plus keep increasing price just like Astro. I heard many of them happy with Maxis even my old household owner had maxis after I moved in I go for unifi as they was cheap in 2017 time.

Go Maxis center to register, then submit the transfer ID to TMpoint.

my friend plan to switch from Unifi to Maxis. The dealer mention will charge him rm1.5k first then rebate every month for 12 months. Is this the correct way? Why need to pay upfront?

No that's a scam. Go to proper maxis center and register, then submit the transfer ID to TM. No charges for switching.

So no complains. Now waiting for my 65" TV. Most probably by 2nd week of Nov.

Wow free tv. What else maxis offer us for migrated from other ISP to them? Thinking of change now, my contract finished this month.

Yes, u better go to maxis center to apply for the transfer ID but u need to ask the following 1st:
- can install or not 1st during this pkb(a/b/c/e) period? need a firm answer, otherwise u need to wait until your area not redzone, only will install.

Their installation team is very dolan macam.

Initially told me that maybe wait 1-2 weeks for installation, then due to red zone, cant proceed with installation. Now i say nvm la, cancel it, suddenly can install. But installer FFk. knnccb.

No bro, cannot test. Once installed 24 months contract.

1. You should go Maxis center to avoid any possible problem. Bring along a copy of your bill so they can trace your address just in case.
2. Yes.

Your 100mb is expensive. It should be only RM129 even though Unifi. As for Maxis, I think that depend on your area. Some have very good experience over Unifi, while some have bad experience.

Finally, last contract month on UniFi. Going to switch to Maxis. So I need to go Maxis Center to apply and submit transfer ID to TM. Right?

For those who just switched, any downtime when porting from UniFi to Maxis?

Yes you need to apply at Maxis center and submit the transfer ID to TM. No down time coz its similar to MNP. Maxis actually uses existing TM modem.
New maxis router connected to LAN 2 port. Fyi. LAN 1 is for Unifi and LAN 2 for Maxis. Thats all internet connection continues without an issue.

Yes call Maxis or sign up from the website to get a callback. After that Maxis will provide you a number, provide that number to TM after asking for a TRANSFER to Maxis Fibre.

No downtime at all. They will reuse the modem and replace your router.

Maxis did not arrange the installation date with me. All they do is, call me today and install the next day. That's it. And it took them sweet 10 days to do so after my submission to TM.

Good Luck!

Actually it would be better if TM can provide alternative to submit TR ID without going to TMPoint. More so during this time.

Did TM require to pass them back their devices? Modem or router from TM once you switch over to Maxis, TM didn't take those back?

been contacted maxis thru official website.

submited my IC thru email as per requested.

end up, maxis didnt recieve my application. not sure how they read emails.

i think i need to go centre to apply.

according to maxis online agent, my area now covered by fibre. currently using unifi vdsl. maxis told me it is different. so i need to apply as new application instead of switching.

so confusing and troublesome.

From VDSL to Fibre then it is new application. But you stay on Unifi you can request to straight away upgrade VDSL to Unifi Fibre. You register Maxis and let them finish installing, only then you go and terminate Unifi.

Been using Unifi 3 years+ Since they won’t be contract my dad say he want to move maxis as maxis is cheap in price compared to unifi. (Off course because of Iptv box since we not using it) so my question is Unifi is under my dad name. My dad say since I’m using maxis better apply maxis fibre under my name.

So I went maxis centre I ask them they said first in Unifi I want to change name from my dad name to myself then only I can go maxis and request transfer.

But problem is when I called unifi 100 they said if I did name transfer my contract will renew again is that true? I ask this question to maxis they said No it’s just they just want you let you go.
Is Unifi renew contract again when change name? Pls reply

If you afraid change ownership will restart contract, ask your dad go and register the Maxis fibre, then submit transfer request to TM. Once successfully switch over only both of you go to Maxis to change ownership to your name.

But isn't it you need to go to TM and submit the transfer ID? otherwise cannot switch. You better check this properly as this is new procedure if you switch ISP.

If you afraid change ownership will restart contract, ask your dad go and register the Maxis fibre, then submit transfer request to TM. Once successfully switch over only both of you go to Maxis to change ownership to your name.

Maxis will send their maxpert to check permise first and then advice for the transfer request.

Actually they just swap your router to Maxis router and reuse the TM BTU. If TM contractor wants to replace your BTU, that is a bonus. For dect phone, you have to check with Maxis if they provide it, otherwise just use your existing telephone.

I tried to get the maxis bundle in the Astro package, but the Astro CS told me got this error and they can't proceed
they are basically useless, CS told me check with sales, Sales told me to check with CS pula doh.gif

FYI, I'm currently using Unifi, trying to port out to Maxis Home Fibre that's included in the Astro package, 300Mb @ RM120 which is more worthwhile compared to sub from Maxis directly

I think RM120 is just for the internet fibre, the TV package is not yet included in the calculation.

you can complain to MCMC ...how on earth a service provider forcing you to take another contract when you have fulfill existing ones and more so from higher speed to lower speed package??

Besides Maxis you may also consider Digi

Actually I think the Astro ppl confuse how to do transfer. Unifi need the transfer ID before TM allow you to switch provider.

Haha this part is tricky. But if you do have the intention to switch, why not try to register for Maxis fibre. If they can install Maxis fibre without you do switching, then you only go to terminate Unifi after Maxis installation.

Ya, most telco have own discount when you pair your postpaid with fibre. Not bad RM100 for 100mbps. Quite similar to Unifi RM99 for Staywithunifi plan.

Completed migration to Celcom Fibre, we continue using the TM modem (I was told that this device has lifetime warranty, if defective, TM will replace it at no cost). The Celcom's installer came with brand new Wifi 6 router (free). Speed still the same as before (while with Unifi).

Maxis cannot "help" to transfer directly because it need permission from TM to release the port. First you need to check with TM if there is penalty for transfer or termination. If no penalty, go through the usual process for registration with Maxis and submit transfer ID to TM.

very much okay, in fact feel better as the latency performance seems better with Maxis...speed wise, I don really heavily need 300Mbps, so I falls back to 100Mbps for Maxis.
and with Maxis Postpaid together, mine become prime plan which gets unlimited data also...
So I just stick to cheapest MaxisOne98...
Service support wise, I had not gotten much chance to experience with any issue *touchwood yet, so no comment...
*
Same here, did the same thing. I'm on a package includes Home Fibre + mobile 98 plan

My area Maxis very stable, very seldom there's a cut. Anyway I dont feel it coz it automatically switches over to mobile data when it detects a problem with fibre line, which I essential for me as I WFH 93.8% of the time.

Swap downtime: half day or less as I recalled. I swapped over about 4 years ago, very fast.

urgently need feedback on switching from 100mbps unifi to maxis as well (especially in ara damansara area - but general feedback appreciated as well)

they called me with the offer to switch and will provide wifi 6 router and unlimited data for my phone.

my main usage is online gaming as well as torrents.

im worried about line stability and speed stability. also if there is any data cap or something like that. any advise? what do u guys think? to switch or maintain current unifi with the current hardware.

aside from the wifi 6 upgrade, any other advantages? what are the disadvantages?

thanks in advance!

Just switched to Celcom Fibre within the last month. Celcom gave me a new WIFI 6 router as well, and we continue using TM's existing BTU (https://www.unifi-tm.com.my/free-unifi-equipments/), which functions like modem. I maintain the same speed for the new subscription with Celcom, which is 100mbps.

The internet was down for less than 1 hour during the installation, and after that, things are just like before (when we were with Unifi Fibre). As explained by Celcom's agent, we are still riding on the same infrastructure. No problem with speed or stability at all.

The kids don't watch much of TM HyppTV and seems that they prefer Astro (whenever we visited the relatives' home).

I was offered special monthly price by Celcom for 100mbps (since I am subscribing to their mobile services) and then I ordered Astro Ulti Box... now the kids are happy. As a replacement for landline (Celcom don't provide one), I purchased a Nokia 106 and a Hotlink prepaid number (RM30 for 1 year activation period).

It's not a scam.. I got free 6 months.. But's is something they do manually.. 1st bill still no rebate. 2nd bill half.. 3rd bill than full rebate.. They provision the rebate manually on 2nd month (mid of the month) so the rebate got prorate. On 3rd month then I got the full rebate. The rebate itself called 6 months rebate, so if not full 6 month rebate I think it's straight forward can complain.

Transfer from unifi to maxis entitled first 6 months free but package price remains 149 for 300mbps? 129 is only for new user request and no 6 months free?

Samsung TV or huawei TV better with additional 50 per month for 3 years

If you are on 100mbps Unifi at RM129, try to request for Maxis 300mbps at RM129 with 6 months free. That would be the best deal. Beyond that, I don't see any attractive promo, unless you need the TV or iPad.

RM129 for 24 months or RM149 for 18 months, just your choice.

But i take back RM129 100mbps since i dont need 300mbps, so RM129 x 6 free.

Update: done my thumb print at my friend’s maxis centre so tomorrow will arrange time to visit tm to ask for transfer

Astro approached me few days ago offering me quite an attractive promo. 500M Astro fiber only at RM100 for 1st 6months and after back to RM129. Its still way cheaper than my current Maxis 500M at RM220.
The only catch is you have to be on their Astro premium subscriber which I am since a long time ago.

Of course you have to be a platinum pack user lar, RM200. It comes with IQiYi, HBO Go, DisneyHotStar and Netflix account free. I personally think quite worth it.

One correction though, 500M is RM129 instead of RM100 for the 1st 6months and subsequently RM159. Still very cheap compare to Unifi and Maxis offering. I am considering to switch over this month end.

Hi guys
need some information

I am Unifi fibre home user (300mbps)
my 2 years contract is ending soon

so of course, the unifi "offers" has started pouring in

the first one, is "free" Disney Hotstar subscription for 24 months
no prize for guessing that it comes with a renewal of Unifi contract for 24 months as well

I just ignore

then come second "offer"
a free upgrade to Wifi 6 router
again, come with a renewal of Unifi contract for 24 months

to be honest, I am thinking of switching to Maxis home fibers as the cost is lower and I dont use the Unifi TV at all

so my question, does having a unifi coverage automatically mean Maxis coverage as well?
from my understanding from long time ago, it use same infrastructure

For the most part yes, but Unifi may play tricks to delay the process (port given to other customer, not found in system, etc), sometimes rarely Maxis is on their own infrastructure

Do expect slightly slower speeds (280Mbps) depending on area/infrastructure/tm installer
It's a known secret that TM intentionally sets a lower cap for ISP's riding on their infra to make you think Unifi is better.

Go to Maxis fibre thread and look for Maxis agent. you can sign up with them for the 6 months deal if you switch from Unifi.

Same boat as TS. Did not changed and maintain two providers. Axis die phones. Unifi for land-line.

My work requires me to be online. If everything is on one provider, and service go down, I have a backup provider. Handy to use maxis as mobile hot-spot from time to time. When maxis goes down, phones use home WiFi.

I think 30mbps now is only the perpaduan plan for B40. Can still apply at centre if you need it.

Yes the offer is real. Unifi 100mbps also rm89 for now, and existing 30mbps users will be upgraded to 100mbps. Therefore I don't see any benefit of switching to Maxis 100mbps since it is same price.

Those online ISP agent is offering 6 months free bills + 2 months TnG credits, means total 8 months free bill if jumpship from other ISP to Maxis Fibre

So is it better to go for Maxis instead of Unifi?
Probably after 24 months contract, there will be new jumpship offers

If really free 5 months for 100mbps then it's good deal. The one I know currently is free 3 months for 100mbps, free 6 months for 300mbps. I'm not sure what Maxis will counter offer, but if you feel that Maxis has better offer you can take the offer and cancel the switching.

Yes, this month. They might call you if you wanna to port out,

Maxis joint with TM troubleshooting service very slow, this is one of their drawback when come to fiber down incident

Screenshot and keep it as proof. If your plan is not as promised then report the agent to respective telco.
What I know Maxis 6 months free, Unifi either 3 or 6 months free depend on plan.

The current procedure for transfer Unifi to Maxis Fiber is no need to terminate? Go to TM Point and request transfer to Maxis, pay outstanding bills and then pay 1 month forward (for Maxis)?

No need to terminate. Go to Maxis centre/agent to register your desire fibre plan. Inform you are transferring from Unifi.
You will get a transfer ID. Bring the transfer ID to Tmpoint, tell them you want to switch to Maxis. Need to do Thumbprint and pay outstanding + 1 month advance.
Tm will approve/reject your transfer in 10 working days. Once approved, Maxis will call and arrange for installation.
Your Unifi will still run for few days after installation. Any balance TM will refund when they close your account.

Thanks for the writeup really helpful.

I am having Unifi out of contract with surplus payment in. Was wondering what will happen with excess.
I tried reaching out to maxis customer service and sales@maxis-fibre.net.my to see any offers etc but no one layan. From the website there is only free plush Dino toy dry.gif
I am trying to see if there is this 6months deal for transfer or some interesting offer.

Either way, I need to make decision to swap over to Maxis or start new contract with Unifi soon. My 5g wifi abit out dy.. off and on got issues as well.

If you do switch out, any surplus payment will refund after TM close the unifi account. Last time they refund through cheque posted to my address, you have to livechat or call TM to check if the same refund mechanism still apply.
Btw Maxis current promo, free 6 months only for 300mbps and 500mbps. 100mbps get free 3 months.
On top of that, there is rm10 rebate for 24 months, e.g. 100mbps is rm89 instead of rm99 for the first 24 months.
If you plan to recontract with Unifi, check out their SWU 4.0 plan from the Unifi thread.

Thank you!. I just read this thread and unifi swu latest thread as well. Looks like kena switch on my Haggling mode cool2.gif .

Walk in Maxis, check 6months promo on for 500mbps, get transfer ID
Walk in TMPoint, raise request to terminate, expect to get SWU offer
Accept/deny either offers and finally wait for the installer dramas.
* I assume if I accept unifi SWU offer, the initial registration contract with Maxis will void off.

I also tempted to google search and many "authorized reseller" appearing. I even try click one reseller Whatsapp and there is a proper automated Whatsapp system until it asked for IC photocopy etc, then I felt not so secured and a little shady. So difficult to get Maxis Customer care to validate about their authorized dealer and these dealers do not even respond to email or Whatsapp. I wonder if we get stuck with an issue with them, it will be tough to work with them. I think best to work directly with Maxis/Unifi.

Thanks again and very useful guidance @YoungMan. I will feedback my journey here.

I walked in Maxis center Sunway Pyramid today.

No more 6months free switch promo direct from Maxis. Maybe resellers can offer but they not sure about it.

Their switch promo is 500mbps is for rm129 for 2yrs. Also they have more cheaper add on options for TV and gadgets compared to the website. They told me this just released yesterday so they will publish this online soon.

Also for switch program, no more transfer ID. Once I initiate on Maxis Center, next is TM will give me a call and counter offer me. If I reject TM offer, Maxis and TM installer will come to my house and set up the Wifi.

The fibre router comes with a free lte dongle for 4g internet backup Incase fibre goes down.

I had to bring IC and the latest unifi bill(Softcopy).

So it is rm30 rebate for 24 months. After 24 months price will revert back to rm159.
No transfer ID, which is a good idea that saves you time and trouble to go and submit transfer request to Tmpoint. But make sure you clear all outstanding bill otherwise TM may reject the switch out. Last time TM even ask for 1 month advance payment during submit transfer ID.

=============================================================

Update 25/1/24: Thursday

I walk in last Thursday and requested. The girl whom serviced me Ms.Ainon stated no Transfer ID and gave her number. She stated within 24hrs Unifi will call and counter.
Friday, someone called again from Maxis and confirmed my request and also confirmed no Transfer ID and said same thing, 24hrs call from Unifi.

=============================================================

Update 2/2/24: Friday

Called Unifi and sent email. Both stated the same thing as below. Today is working day 7;
Quote from Unifi Email;
"Kindly note that transfer request has been created on 25/01/2024 with reference number 1-8426xxxxxxx. Kindly note that you will be contacted within 10 days. However, transfer request will be auto approved after 10 days even if you did not received any call or update. "

I called Maxis yesterday and spoke to their CS and he gave me my transfer ID through phone. He also told me he himself did a switch lately and Unifi called within 2 days.

I also raised a report to aduan MCMC stating TM intentional delay of maximum 10days and informed Unifi the MCMC complaint number.
Within 3 hours of letting Unifi know that I have contacted aduan MCMC, I got a call from Unifi, basically just asking what is Maxis package and did not bother offer me anything, did not bother asking me why i switching as well. They approved my switch.

=============================================================

Update 5/2/24: Monday

Today Maxis called me stating TM approved the switch and installation appointment made on Wednesday. They claim TM and Unifi people might come together.

.. to be continued..
*
Only maxis tech will show up. Unifi tech always MIA

Thank you all for the help. I just summarize my user experience here.

Pre 23 Jan
- Having issues with Unifi support. Slow, connection issues, router problem. Unifi bills packaged with Hypptv and they refuse to remove it, stating price will be revised back to ori for broadband. Got fed up eventually and decided to switch.

20-25 Jan
- Survey around and with the help of this thread, got a clear picture what to do to switch.

25/26 Jan
- Walked in to Maxis Center Sunway. New process introduced.
- They offered some package as I am postpaid customer, no 6months free campaign by Maxis Center but resellers might have different campaign. Maxis offered much cheaper monthly payment x24.
** Ensure you get a copy of their promo when they offer you. It will not be in the contract, not in the order forms and call center will not be aware on their system. Get a copy when you are at the center itself.
- No need Transfer ID. Maxis will get Unifi to call customer within 48hours and approve/reject transfer request.
- Also Maxis center have more Add on packages not listed on the website or retailers. I got a TV for 24months deal.

- Next day, Maxis called again and reconfirm only about the switch process.

1/2 Feb
- No updates from Unifi still(7 working days). Called Unifi and emailed them. Both replies gave me a very bad user experience telling me to wait 10days if no calls and it will auto approve. I had a feeling they enjoy throwing the template to wait 10days.
- Called Maxis call center and they manage to give the Transfer ID but they still see the status pending from Unifi.
- I immediately raised an aduan at MCMC stating intentional delay from Unifi and abuse of processing period. The 10days is for negotiation and process not let user wait out.
- Once informed TM that I raised MCMC complaint of delay, I got a very disgruted call from TM officer to approve the transfer, they do not want to hear why I am unhappy about Unifi.

5 Feb
- Aduan MCMC acknowledge email(4 working days)

7 Feb
- Maxis installer came with Unifi, replaced the broadband, all working fine. Getting good speed with the new Kaon Wifi6 Router.
- Suprisingly, Got an update on Aduan MCMC from help@tm.com.my on my ticket that issue has been resolved. So aduan MCMC still legit and works. (https://aduan.mcmc.gov.my)
- Maxis now initiating the TV delivery arrangements through their Device dealer (MTT or NTT) to get the TV to my house. Might be delay due to CNY.

Will update this thread again for the Unifi refund as well. I most likely will make 1 email, 1 call (expect them to be sacarstic and rude about it), record it and straight make aduan MCMC next day about delay of refund process.

Update
15 March
- Send email to TMNET help@tm.com.my for refund. They asked for IC. Then they gave a service number and stated wait 3 months for refund.
- I checked their T&C does not have this, but their website policy has this. This can be amended as per their liking. I am currently demanding for the contract agreement stating 3months for refund. Will eventually send some email follow ups and then proceed to liaise with MCMC to demand for their contract or refund immediately. Not sure why they need 3 months. We do not pay a month or 2 also TM throw tantrum. brows.gif

both subscribed at 500mbps
Unifi
- direct LAN cable to wifi router, i get 300ish up/down never above 400mbps. One of the reasons I was not happy with them.

Maxis
- upstairs wifi AP (upstairs 5g wifi > upstairs switch<2GbpsLAGports>downstairs switch > Maxis 6g wifi LAN port) - getting 530 download/98 upload
- still upstairs but connect direct to downstairs maxis wifi6 AP (very good signal + shared SSID with other devices) - getting 490 download/95 upload
** Initially i asked Maxis installer why upload is capped, he says its normal for Maxis...
** Amazed with the wifi6 speed upstairs. Almost full wifi strength bar connecting direct to downstairs AP. Just makes me think how much of RF signals bouncing off in my house and its transmission strength. One of the reasons I pull cable upstairs and downstairs.

***Extra Info***
***LAg setup is quite easy as well but need some basic networking knowledge else it will be alien stuff. (LAg, link aggregation is a process of binding 2 or more LAN ports for higher LAN throughput, eg, 2x1Gpbs port joined)
2 x TPLink SG105E(rm100 per switch) - https://static.tp-link.com/res/down/doc/TL-SG105E_V2_UG.pdf - pg18 talks about trunk
2 x 10meter Cat6 Cables(rm25 per cable)
- Some masonry drilling skills (power hammer drills + long drill bits)
- run cables to switches, configure to bond/lag them, assign the right VLANs
- configure upstairs AP to point to downstairs AP for WAN

Just wanted to share my experience switching from Unifi 800mbps to Maxis 1gbps

5 May (Sunday)
Saw the promotion for 1gbps for only RM159 from my Maxis mobile app.
Then ask them for more information via WhatsApp.
Confirmed to register for this package via WhatsApp.

6 May (Monday)
Unifi called and confirm about the transfer request.

7 May (Tuesday)
Maxis called and said transfer request approved. Will arrange for Maxis installation on 9 May.
I asked if I still need to go Unifi center to request transfer. Maxis said no need, the call from Unifi is sufficient.

9 May (Thursday)
Maxis personnel came at 9.30am
Unifi personnel reached around 10am
Need to change the modem due to speed change from 800mbps to 1gbps
After change modem, Maxis setup the router... Done around 11am.

Any advice? Thanks

May I know what modem do you get for the 1Gbps plan?

if your router has a 2.5g wan port might be able to go 1gbps assuming the skyworth onu you got is the 2.5g one that they give to 2gbps package

Yes, got 2.5g port
I need to check again if i'm using 2.5g port to connect modem

The Maxis guy said must change modem when upgrade to 1gbps
So, I guess this is the new modem that can support faster speed...

Must get a new number because we don't have FNP implemented in Malaysia. TM is against the implementation of fixed number portability when MCMC did a public consultation with telcos.
