Chinese restaurants already served Vegetarian Char Siew long long time ago.
Some tasted really similar (not those really proper burnt honey glazed Char Siew type).

And plus, I can foresee Confusion card being whipped out. Remember Shandy and Guiness Malta?

If it didn't come from pigs, you can eat it all you want. It is just a name. Islam specifically said that it is the meat from pigs that is haram.

The haram is not in the name. Pig itself is not haram. Eating pig flesh is haram.

Touching pig is not haram, but consider un-clean (najis).

The recent 0% alcohol beer by heneiken actually have like 0.0x% of alcohol 😂 but I think Malta is close enough. Malta is literally the same ingredient as Guinness minus the alcohol. If I’m not mistaken it’s just malt being err fermented? So Malta is the one that have yet to put long enough 😂 Guinness is put too long d

Oh ya can anyone advise on whether tapai is halal since it kinda have alcohol also?

erm... what is the intention to certify plant-based pork as halal ?

if it is plant-based then basically shall be already considered as vegetarian and why the need for halal certification... so muslims can undoubtedly know what real pork taste like ?

i mean the "niat" to consume the fake-pork(?) itself is questionable to me... halal ke niat tu ?

inb4 what is syubhah?

QUOTE
Syubhah (شبهة) menurut Bahasa Arab ialah ragu,was-was atau syak.

[ Riwayat Al-Bukhari no.52; Muslim no. 1559]Allahua'lam.

a quote from an ustaz :

"orang kafir tak tengok al-Quran, orang kafir tengok awak"

*"awak" as in muslims themselves. whatever is written in the holy book are useless when the people professing to represent the religion, act differently. the same applies to all religions in this world.

People who comment really dont know what is the Impossible group did....
I tried impossible burger in Singapore.

They are manything behind it, but there no meat, but they mix with hemoglobin from sprout to create the blood like look.
so it is technically vegan and sin free.

this is what i told my parents years ago when people start eating fake meat for religious reason, your "niat" is already broken because you still want to eat meat. i guess the same apply here, if your niat is to eat "haram" food, then should not be halal

this ^

is no pork, beef and mutton and chicken price would probably go up 3-4 times

considering how pork is the # 1 most consumed meat world wide

Technically it will be halal, but muslim will not buy/eat it as it will mendatangkan fitnah and it is not recommended and must be prevented. Good muslim will avoid it, not so good muslim will probably try

the food industry is ALL about taste like me but not me

orange juice/sweets has no orange
lots of milk has no milk
meat sausage has no meat

the only way for food industry to prosper is to make TASTE LIKE ME BUT NOT ME

inilah dia cibai bangsar bubble with no imagination
the world is ALL ABOUT substituting everything with something that tastes the same

Agreed with your point. I have a classmate who is now a chemist, researching on industrial artificial flavouring. And i heard many many things from her. So,

1. I dont drink orange juice
2. I stopped drinking milk
3. Sausage intake is minimal (wife still buying)

Further, i am trying to limit and control what is going into my body. I buy "real" meat from butchery, fish direct from fishermen in kuala selangor, veggie sometimes MIL got tanam.

Eat less processed food. Thats what i am trying to say.

"orang kafir tak tengok al-Quran, orang kafir tengok awak"

*"awak" as in muslims themselves. whatever is written in the holy book are useless when the people professing to represent the religion, act differently. the same applies to all religions in this world.

Chinese restaurants already served Vegetarian Char Siew long long time ago.
Some tasted really similar (not those really proper burnt honey glazed Char Siew type).

And plus, I can foresee Confusion card being whipped out. Remember Shandy and Guiness Malta?

inb4 what is syubhah?

There is still difference, mainly in the texture. And some dishes you can't replace pork in terms of taste and smell.
Anyway, don't think it's healthy to eat so much of these over-processed food.

I remember reading that all vegetarian meats are plant proteins. Soy is the common suspect.

It's for vegans exclusively I think. Because nowadays meat substitute products are not uncommon and many dairies also replaced by ground nuts and cereals juice.

If you want to try go ahead. If you prefer real stuff instead, just avoid lor.

This might be a hit in other muslim cultures. But i doubt it will be in Malaysia since there not only the flesh of pig is considered haram but everything that has to do with pig is haram.
