Take the shelf life with a pinch of salt. I have energizer max that expire in 2028 but already leak today.

Buy IKEA rechargable ones....buy the charger.
I stop buying batteries for more than a year now after using IKEA Laddas (brown ones will do). Initial cost 'slightly' higher, but long term I guess cheaper.

My concern is durability of charger.

Say battery need to be recharge every 6 month for wall clock. So mean every charger can only will be used for 10 times for its cycle life. Is it worth it?

youtube got battery test from some channel. the guy test every industrial thing fairly. he says that cheap battery really not worth it at all, go for energizer etc

firstly, u have to understand the difference between carbon zinc and alkaline batteries, those "super heavy duty" batteries u see on shelves are carbon zinc
these batteries no matter how branded they are, they will have 1/3 the capacity of an alkaline battery

so even a cheapo MR DIY alkaline battery can be 3x longer lasting than lets say branded Eveready carbon zinc super heavy duty batteries

and tests have also proven that those branded alkaline batteries are only 10 to 20% longer lasting than cheap alkaline batteries, so an energizer alkaline battery is only 20% better than lets say MR DIY alkaline batteries,
but u can get MR DIY alkaline batteries for as cheap as RM1 each battery, but energizer ones cost like almost RM4 per battery, so the cost is not worth it, its almost 4x more expensive but only 20% better

U mean charger doesn't last long?

I just bought ikea ladda. Gonna use my decade old GP charger to charge it. Hope it won't explode.

It's been 3 years now. Charger working fine (the Ikea Vinninge RM 12.90 with 2 slots)

I now have 16 AAA and 20 AA laddas (the old ones are those peach/brown kinda colour, new ones are light blue). The first batch ones (that i bought 3 years ago) are still being used in remotes and mouse. Almost no significant degradation in both charger and batteries.

Edit: For RM12 charger to work 3 years, I guess even if spoil can get a new one

i believe they're both still ~ 1.3V, just different capacities. one will stay "on" longer thus requiring less charging. thus lower charge cycle, thus perhaps last longer? something like that...

edit...ime, both suck at wall clocks (low drain devices) coz of their lower voltage. ymmv

I have bought the 2450 before, so far ok use it for remote, clock etc

on my mouse, it can last for about 3 months ( use it daily )

price wise rm39.90 for 2450 mah vs rm24.90 for 1900mah ( set of 4 cells )

I didnt keep tab on mine, but easily passed 4 years I think

use occasionally on remote/wall clocks mostly

I dislike buying the disposable one since many of them tends to leak on the device

yeah, exactly why i migrated to the rechargeables. hate the leaks spoiling the devices...
but, you have no issues with your clocks? hurmmm...i noticed i need to replace the rechargeables more often compared to the conventional ones on the clocks.
i.e. rechargeables might require changing around 6months, whilst the conventional...more than a year.

edit: i believe my clock is sensitive... refuse to work below 1.2V. others might have no issue working at 0,9V

Nice observations on the clock . Yeah come to think of it , I think I change the battery more frequently on the clock compared to the normal batteries

But 0 case of leaking so far on rechargeable batteries

Of course get the biggest capacity available. No reason to get the lower.
