QUOTE(Wijjog @ Sep 30 2020, 11:40 PM) Change if youre gonna game on 4k QUOTE(tripleB @ Sep 30 2020, 11:46 PM) Depends on what your setup is. Since both will be able to run the same games on Series X up to 120fps, it won't be like the Xbox One X vs One S. The One X actually performs better than the One S. If you're going to be using it with a 1440p monitor, then the Series S makes perfect sense. If you have a 1080p TV, the Series S still makes sense. But if you have a 4K TV, I would choose the Series X. Not only for Series X games, but also for some other enhancements like old Xbox games, where they can run on One X enhanced mode (4K resolution, better frame rates). Thinking about 4k tv too. Heard that if that 4k tv do not support hdmi 2.1, it will not fully utilise series x & ps5 capabilities and currently only flagship model had hdmi 2.1.

QUOTE(tripleB @ Sep 30 2020, 07:58 PM) Dolby Atmos is actually just software support built into the device. There's no such thing as a headphone with Dolby Atmos hardware in the first place. You can buy 'Dolby Atmos for headphones' app in the Microsoft store. I've bought it personally, so I know it's actually worth it. You just put on any normal wired headphones to the Xbox controller, select Dolby Atmos for Headphones and you're good to go. Of course a good pair of headphones will give better results. Most probably have to change the Soundbar then - can't sit too near the TV with wired headphones (I only have wired now) QUOTE(yoyoi @ Oct 1 2020, 08:25 AM) Thinking about 4k tv too. Yeah, I bought a new TV 2 weeks ago solely for this purpose - 4K120fps / HDMI 2.1

Much of my old 360 collection is still on disc so will be getting the series x for the drive and BC. I think if you're not budget dependent you might as well just get the series x, it'll be worth it in the long run. Heard that if that 4k tv do not support hdmi 2.1, it will not fully utilise series x & ps5 capabilities and currently only flagship model had hdmi 2.1. The way I see it is that you have several options: 1. Future proof option: Get the series x and upgrade to 4k 120hz tv later 2. More budget friendly option: Get the series s and game on 1440p 144hz gaming monitor It depends on how you like to game (tv vs monitor) and how much you are willing to spend. If you prefer to game on a 4k tv, I think it wouldn’t hurt to game on the series x even if it’s a 60hz panel Edit: Also depends on what games you play. If you are into online shooters like cod then getting a high refresh panel is recommended. If not then playing on 60hz is more than enough I think This post has been edited by Wijjog: Oct 1 2020, 11:12 AM

But not connecting to the TV or amp. I'm connecting it via 3.5mm jack on the Xbox controller. And we can still make use of Dolby Atmos. It's quite practical to me. I can still play further from the TV and still use wired headphones.

I do own lots of digital games, but I don't get rid of old games most of the time.

Heard that if that 4k tv do not support hdmi 2.1, it will not fully utilise series x & ps5 capabilities and currently only flagship model had hdmi 2.1. Well a lot of the newer tech requires new hardware. I only recently got a nice 144Hz, Freesync/Gsync monitor, and I do like the high refresh rate on games. Games feel snappier and smoother. And now consoles will finally get the same tech. I probably need to get a HDMI 2.1 capable TV too. But next only I think. This year is burning a hole in my wallet! I got an RTX 3080, already PO the Series X. The TV can wait. It's not like we are going to see a high end 120fps game too soon on Xbox. Old games and ports don't count.

I have a Sony TV with a "Motion Flow 100hz" panel. Does this means it can go up to 100fps?

QUOTE(victorr @ Oct 2 2020, 03:10 PM) If you have a 1080p tv, should be no problem. But for frame-rate, might be around 30/60. Better to refer to your tv model / specification.
