I've got an iMac at work and another at home so I don't really connect the MBP to monitors and drives (most of my documents are on iCloud) so I guess my usage pattern is different.

About the only thing that makes the fan engage is when I'm running Windows 10 at work via Parallels and I run the work related media players. Even then, it doesn't get overly warm and the fans are really very quiet. I'm impressed at the smoothness of video though. Especially since this is running Windows emulation.

(to answer the inevitable question - no, a Mac version of the windows software I need to run does not exist)

After few weeks of testing. Same noisy fan sound happening. Especially when I have 2 monitors hooked up.

OMG!!! So sorry to see this. If you have not activated your Apple Care, try buying the Apple Care+. Borrow an overseas credit card and address to buy it.

I bought a brand new US set in Malaysia. Got my friend to register the Care+ in US, was about 1.6k all in. Deductible is more or less 500.

Just saw this post. Lucky you! I suggest you send it in for repair when you are travelling to one of the countries which support Apple Care+. Singapore or HK maybe. When I sent mine to Malaysian agent, they had to check with Apple and the process is a bit long. Firstly even told me that it was not covered.

Unfortunately, I don't travel anywhere doh.gif, plus if I do send it in during a trip, the service turnaround time would probably have to be damn fast. I will revert to a 2014 15" atm when this is in for service next week. Can't look at the screen any longer as the bottom part is blacking out more and more often.

Let us know what happens when you send it in, especially how much they charge. I am interested to know also. Although I hope I never have to deal with a cracked screen.

Another deductible of 500 (hopefully with fingers crossed). That’s based on the screen and housing damage deductible for Care+

And of course bro, let’s hope we don’t ever have to face a cracked screen.

will the house damage to be considered as other damage that cost extra on top of the display?

If you need it to be drop proof, perhaps use the box it shipped with.... even that however may not guarantee against damage

Hi guys.

Finally joining the club. 😁

My initial impressions:-

Coming from using a MacBook Pro 15" 2019, the key differences that I find most welcoming are:
- the keyboard! finally keys with great travel distance. though sometimes I really miss the snappy stability of the butterfly switches from the MBP 15"
- superb speakers with surprisingly good bass response now. this was very impressive.
- escape key .... ooh, I have missed you so much!
- screen size got a 1" bump. quite noticeable especially when I use a lot of apps in one view.
- battery life is pretty good too.

Now, just read that we should do some CPU clock tweaks to the Turbo Boost to minimise overheating and improve battery life drastically. Gonna do this ASAP! ✌🏼

But iPhone is unbreakable one. Laptops are really easy to drop and crack

My experience for the past few flagships (X and XS Max) is very easy to be water damaged. My X got water damage after 3 months of usage and XS Max got glitched out after 2 months.

No way laptop are easy to drop la
I mobile my laptop since 2012 with bare until today still works like charm, no dent or scratch.
It happens, but not so easy i guess well most of the time it just sits at the table right?

The cardboard box that Apple shipped the machine from factory to you.

But in seriousness, check out Waterfield Designs. Amazing quality but expensive. I've bought two. Am considering a third...

Use 3rd party apps. There are guides available on Youtube.

I have not personally tested them.

Will update results once I have the time to test.

Mind sharing which ones you bought from Waterfield Designs?

Did you order them straight from their website and have them delivered to Malaysia?

Am keen on trying them out too. Alternatively, I am still considering the RM749 Apple Leather Sleeve but am unsure of how good it is.

Both were ordered off the SFBags website. Shipping is a bit of a bitch, but is extremely fast. Less than a week in both cases.

I got the Pro Executive Laptop Backpack with Executive Folio in Chocolate Leather (https://www.sfbags.com/collections/bags/products/pro-executive-laptop-backpack)

I actually got the Sutter Slim Backpack first (https://www.sfbags.com/collections/bags/products/sutter-slim-backpack) but while this was very nice for daily use between home and office, it didn't have enough space for a Tokyo/Sapporo family holiday so.... had to get the Pro Executive too. No regrets though. Both are VERY good quality bags and have different use case scenarios.

Now I've got my eye on the Air Porter Carry on....
