QUOTE(Anonymous34 @ Feb 15 2020, 11:45 PM) I bought a brand new US set in Malaysia. Got my friend to register the Care+ in US, was about 1.6k all in. Deductible is more or less 500. One question, is it safe to buy the "US set" macbookpro 16 inch in malaysia with way cheaper price than the official price ? looking for one but quite skeptical as the price different is 2k++

However, you will be covered by the Apple Warranty. Previously I bought a 15 inch MacBook Pro that was repaired few times for the keyboard issues in one year and under the consumer law, I got a full refund on my previous purchase and use the fund to purchase the new 16 inch. So... depends on you I guess.

I am not worried about any workmanship defects of the laptop as it can be claimed her with no issue. Source: been dealing with US Apple products for a few years now. Bargain for money

Claiming it with Apple is always a straight forward process

QUOTE(MacDaNife @ Feb 26 2020, 04:04 PM) Both were ordered off the SFBags website. Shipping is a bit of a bitch, but is extremely fast. Less than a week in both cases. I got the Pro Executive Laptop Backpack with Executive Folio in Chocolate Leather (https://www.sfbags.com/collections/bags/products/pro-executive-laptop-backpack) I actually got the Sutter Slim Backpack first (https://www.sfbags.com/collections/bags/products/sutter-slim-backpack) but while this was very nice for daily use between home and office, it didn't have enough space for a Tokyo/Sapporo family holiday so.... had to get the Pro Executive too. No regrets though. Both are VERY good quality bags and have different use case scenarios. Now I've got my eye on the Air Porter Carry on.... Thanks, chief! Will certainly check them out. 👍🏻 QUOTE(Anonymous34 @ Feb 15 2020, 11:45 PM) I bought a brand new US set in Malaysia. Got my friend to register the Care+ in US, was about 1.6k all in. I think it's a really good deal and a no brainer to get US model if possible

QUOTE(edmund_yung @ Mar 4 2020, 06:56 AM) https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4916508This guy bought a local model and see how is the store treating him. The usual Malaysian feeling of entitlement "I bought something expensive so therefore I am deserving of special treatment" needs to end. This particular computer has a very niche market so I'd imagine not many retailers would have much inventory - a one-to-one exchange hardly seems a practical expectation. I would hesitate to infer that this is a problematic machine though. Mine has been problem free since purchase. What this does make very clear is there is little advantage to buying from a brick-and-mortar shop as if you have any problems (again, this is quite rare) they would still direct you to an online resolution of the problem from Apple. It’s not the entitlement of special treatment because the laptop is not expensive for the value it gives (Windows workstation laptops cost upwards of 16k) but if it was to happen to you on day 1, you would probably want to have a 1 to 1 exchange to. It’s just a base model 16”, they should have it in stock any day. And mind you, they offer 14 days exchange period in many stores overseas. Regardless if it broke or you simply didn’t like it.

QUOTE(1zR4eL @ Mar 25 2020, 07:54 AM) where to get this much discount? Buying at the right time I suppose. The price for the same laptop from the seller is 1k more expensive now. Glad I bought it earlier

QUOTE(totokreturn @ Mar 25 2020, 07:30 AM) Honestly after a while it feels heavy, but as you go try carrying a 15” gaming laptop, you cant even hold it with one hand. At least this 16” is still able to be carried one-handedly
