QUOTE(basilisk @ Sep 5 2023, 05:42 PM) MHR helmet is legit lah.it's a local brand helmet made in penang. they also make hevo brand which i find really good quality for the asking price. sure got JPJ sticker since local brand. there's also a few other local brand like xdot which is also locally certified. i rate these locally made helmet higher than china no-name brands. |

QUOTE(skyblu3 @ Sep 7 2023, 11:01 AM) I also know someone who said they got a new arai full face for 500. Just get a HJC or a scorpion...they are quite decent for the price. As for these street fighter helmets...never quite liked them...although they do look very nice though. All of them are extremely loud, the visors are hard to replace, and optical quality no where near the flat plane visors of full face...plus I prefer a clear visor with a retractable sunvisor for a full day helmet. Plus I feel more secure with a hard chin bar of a full face for safety. 007SMH liked this post

Much better than buying fakes and also those with just with Sirim Stickers. |

As highlighted by me earlier in this thread, MHR is the parent company of LS2, the founder is from China, and it all started from there. History explained here. https://www.ls2usa.com/about locally/malaysian made helmet, doesnt require jpj approval. And local made helmet, locally assembled helmet have Sirim sticker. QUOTE(skyblu3 @ Sep 7 2023, 01:57 PM) Im not exactly sure..but ive heard the testing is similar to ece tests...Some has even said its better than ece as ece only does drop test once while sirim does it twice..no idea of the truth in this. I think theres is a video on youtube from years ago abt sirim helmet tests... As for sirim cert....heres a quote from my email correspondence a few years ago when i asked abt gettin a sirim sticker for my already ece certified personal helmet. "Biasanya helmet yg mendapatkan pelekat SIRIM adalah untuk dijual kerana prosesnya melibatkan audit di kilang dan testing." So i conclude myself that sirim cert is more for locally produced helmets as factory audit is required and i doubt sirim wanna travel overseas to audit overseas brand helmets. As for jpj sticker, dont think its for local brand...as local will have sirim....i think the first brand to have that sticker is kyt when they first started getting popular...n kyt is indo brand that, at the time, only had indos sni cert n no ece. |

If buying a new helmet and in doubt, just go for ECE22-06 lor.
They are filtering down to lower end helmets. Some of the entry level HJCs are already 22-06 rated..but I forgot which model. LS2 as well. That said I would stay away from ABS shell helmets unless you are really budget constraint. It's the least resistant of all the shell types to cracking (due to it being more brittle) in impacts leading to poor force distribution across the EPS impact foam. By minimum a polycarbonate shell. Fiberglass if you can spend a bit more. Don't even consider those cheap china helmets. I have 1 that I use for go karting. It's extremely lightweight...about 1kg for a full face . Would highly doubt they will fair well in a crash. As for china made shells, almost all the manufacturer have shells coming out of china. As long as it's backed by a good brand with proper certification, I'm not too concerned about where the sells come from. Only shoei and arai comes out of Japan. Everyone else has china shells.... HJC's premium RPHA line ( PIM+ shell) is made in Korea but the cheaper polycarbonate ones comes from Vietnam. AGV top flight lids are made in Italy but the lower end lids are also out from china. As much as DOT is the less preferred standard, I like it that it's results are documented and open, an example:
https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/ctr/9999/TRTR-...16-2017-001.pdf ABS degrades in UV, so PC is still better in this sense, fibreglass, carbon fibre and those that uses resin system to give shape is more difficult to project since those resins are proprietary |

for guys with big size head I've been burned may times. Helmet size double XXL and measurement as per size chart but when worn it is small and not fit. Even from the same manufacturer size can differ.
They usually give excuse that shell is the same size only the thickness of the padding determine the sizes which sucks. But recently I bought MHR and it fits like a glove, legitimately roomy and did not pressed on my ears. I am now MHR for life. |

QUOTE(mADmAN @ Sep 8 2023, 11:45 AM) Which is why must always go test a helmet at the shop n never buy online....unless ur buying the same helmet for a 2nd time. I live in Island, too little variant and too expensive, so everytime must buy online. Everytime I bought new helmets I had to put an appropriate length bottle between the opposite ends of the inside of the helmet to stretch the inside of the helmet for 2 weeks. After that, then I could wear it comfortably. With MHR, it just fit nicely on day one. That is what I meant by roomy, it does not pressing hard into my head and earsRoomy? Didnt press ears? U sure u got the fitment right? A helmet is supposed to be snug...not roomy. This post has been edited by MrWrath: Sep 8 2023, 11:53 AM |
