Seems like there's no indication of tx locations, power levels contour and recommended setups, so it's basically useless except for things like hi-gain setups?

Some kind of coverage map is available. You have to toggle it however.
The below is myfreeview coverage.

Nor the transmitters location (which exists on MYTV website) or individual coverage of TV transmitters.

Felt like RTM is dumbing down the Olympics coverage this time. They are more willing to show trashy shopping programmes than of the more important Olympics. We might have many platforms available (Unifi TV/Astro/Sooka/RTM online streams) but the treatment of the Olympics this time is absolutely disgraceful by showing it on secondary TV channel, TV Okey and Sukan RTM (Plus 5 online streams) No coverage whatsoever on both TV1 and TV2.
I blame RTM for failing to made 3 of their channels universally available on all platforms (RTM is a public broadcaster, should have fundings to made their channels as universally available as possible)

Some changes on Media Prima's radio stations (who transmits on MYTV DTT)

All stations now have new breakfast presenters under massive changes of Media Prima's radio arm. This is following former Astro Radio leaders joining the Media Prima Radio department.

Ripple Media is now known as Media Prima Audio
Kool FM is now known as Buletin FM
One FM is now known as 8FM (deviated from sister TV station 8TV)
Hot FM and Fly FM have new logos.
All stations also now have a new website + new look on overnight simulcast (the below is 8FM on 8TV and Buletin FM on TV9)
Buletin Utama and 8TV Mandarin News will be simulcast on Buletin FM and 8FM on 8PM.
Expect EPG changes for Kool FM and One FM very soon.
Presenters also returned to some slots (which there was no presenters due to cutting costs).

You may see the refreshed logo on Mediaprima.audio

Usually this small changes need to rescan or decoder will auto update?
*
There should be no changes at all and there is no need to rescan since they just take over the existing stations. However, the old names will stay until MYTV updates the EPG name.

Meanwhile on FM radio platform, it appears that radio stations from Media Prima Audio (i.e. Fly FM, Hot FM) now has RDS.
Meaning, the radio station's name will appear on your radio player (if it supports RDS).
For example previously in Klang Valley area, when I tune to Fly FM, it only shows the frequency of 95.8MHz.

But today, I see "FLY FM" name appear on my radio player, and no longer just the frequency number.
*
The same case as on Johor Bahru. For my information Hot FM (which never have a RDS) also has RDS activated. This allows much easier following of the radio stations while on the move. Fly FM do have RDS from the start though. Can't confirm for 8FM though as I am completely out of range of the transmitters.

You can't receive 8FM even in Johor Bahru? You hear only static on both 88.1MHz and 105.3MHz?

Tbh 8FM sounds weird lol... I know they want to make it as if it's like part of 8TV.
"8TV" sounds ok, but "8FM" is like.... I dunno, it's weird... sweat.gif
*
In my area 88.1MHz it is blocked by Gunung Pulai itself
Meanwhile 105.3MHz has limited transmission range and Taman Sentosa TX is too far from my location (I think the reception starts to be unstable on Skudai)

New look and feel of TV9, with its new tagline: “Janji Happy”, coming this morning, Sep 9, 2021. The supposed new channel logo of TV9 already been hinted via the all-new Buletin TV9 since Aug 3, 2021.

*
The schedule has been overly refreshed gradually since at least May with the addition of new drama (in almost 4 years) and other contents, plus moving news slot 1 hours earlier with lesser Wow Shop (which is still a major source of revenue for Media Prima), with at least 6pm - 11 pm daily being new/repeat contents now.

TV9 was heavily ruined by the former TV management but somehow they are trying to reverse the ruin.

But at least, it is still better than overly sad situation just a few years ago with only 4 hours of non Wow Shop content (all of them repeats with exception of news) over 18 hours of broadcast for the channel. (this is in a time when even one of TV9's flagship program Tanyalah Ustaz was moved to TV3, but reinstated as it simulcasts with TV3 with its own 30 minutes slot on TV9).

If the particular scene doesn't move much, then it is sharp, just like how Full HD should look like.

But only when there's fast motion/changing scenes, then you can see the video compression artifacts. Especially on RTM channels, each HD channel uses bitrate if 3.5Mbps, which is lower than channels on Mux 1 (TV3, Go Shop, TVS, 8TV... uses 4Mbps). Just a 0.5Mbps is good enough to see the difference in comparison artifacts.

I would say at least 5Mbps per HD channel, then only it is good enough for not seeing obvious video compression artifacts (but doesn't mean it's not there). Sorry to compare, meanwhile Singapore Mediacorp channels uses 7.5Mbps per HD channel, so in terms of their HD picture quality, I definitely got no complaints about it. Lucky Johorians sweat.gif
*
As I could experience both MYTV and Mediacorp DTT, I can say that Singapore channels definitely look better with higher bitrates (even with that I can notice artifacts on some fast moving scenes). MYTV with 3.5/4Mbps is insufficient and look more like YouTube HD.

In that case, digital TV channels aren't for you then. Just because digital TV is available to Malaysians, it doesn't mean its content and channels are targeted for each and everyone of us.
Not everyone wants to watch shows via Internet, and not everyone willing to pay for watching it. They have their own reasons for it, and you have yours.

We can give whatever content or channel suggestions to MYTV or whoever broadcasters out there, still, that doesn't mean they are obligated to offer it to you, after all we are paying zero fee for it.
Just keep it simple. If the TV content doesn't suit your viewing preference, then just watch your shows on other available platforms.
It could be over satellite like Astro, or online streaming like Netflix. Tons of content choices there, including legal ones and illegal pirated ones.

Regardless, there will be people out there who wants to digital terrestrial TV channels on a regular basis.
So, Go Shop, Wow Shop or whatever shop it is, digital TV will survive.  smile.gif

In the future, whoever complains that MYTV channels is sucks (which I also personally agree), just direct them to this post.
*
For me it is really meant for casual viewing as there are very little content available there that attracts me. The content may have gotten slightly better but the content available simply doesn't interest me a lot.

Alternative sources (legal ones like Unifi TV, which comes from broadband subscription and Viu etc. and illegal ones) have the content that I prefer to watch for.
Well, it is a great, free option that doesn't require internet or subscription to use for, neither any personal information is needed (such as NJOI). It is also the easiest way for the public to access HD content with all the main major channels available in HD. With recent changes for NJOI that offer similar amount of channels in their free tier, that mades myFreeview even more attractive for those who don't want to pay money for accessing TV.

I still have some family members and relatives who still watch FTA TV in a regular basis simply because it has the content they want/have limited access to the internet.

Sri Pentas now sports 2018 NTV7 logo (but outdated 8TV, TV9 logo), presumed changed sometime after 2020 (photos from 2019 still show outdated Circle 7 logo on Sri Pentas building)
Taken from TV3 cooking show Masak Apa Tu?

It is very awkward for not changing outdated logos, especially when the change has happened a few years ago. In normal practice logo changes usually happen right on the day the logo changed.

In this case, further retune might be necessary to allow Suke TV for broadcast and the possible addition of Media Prima Molek FM (well, MYTV's configuration is 3 Main mux + 1 standby mux) as both MUX 1 and MUX 2 are now almost full.

MUX 1 and MUX 2 currently has the capacity for 1x HD channel (at 4.1 Mbps/3.6Mbps) or 2x SD channel (at 2.1Mbps). This is considering the multiplex capacity used by MYTV is around 35.8Mbps (32k 256 QAM GI 19/256 FEC 2/3). Audio stations only uses a small chunk of capacity (0.05Mbps for Media Prima Audio/Commercial, 0.13Mbps for RTM).

The third multiplex is not used now due to low demand.

Some retune is definitely necessary as it is not shown on MUX 1 and MUX 2.

Viewers are complaining that they aren't able to receive programmes from Suke TV due to unavailability of MUX 3, similar to what RTM channels wasn't available due to the migration from MUX 1 to MUX 2. Those using MYTV satellite via Asiasat 9 might already able to receive the channel.

With the availablity of C-Band feed on ABS it is only a matter of time MUX 3 is up. The frequencies however isn't know for many transmitters as it won't be on the frequencies published at 2016-17 (unless it is below 700MHz).

Wasn't able to receive Indonesian DTT on MATV antenna.

Meanwhile, Wow Shop starts to invade Didik TV (NTV7) (starting today) with an 1 hour slot from 11pm, plus two half hour slots on 7am and 1.30 pm. There wasn't any Wow shop slots after the rebrand to Didik TV KPM but there is one now. More ways to earn additional revenue isn't it or some budget cuts from MOE maybe?

"Wow Shop mendidikan pelajar"

In the future it is likely you will see school/education related products on that slot.

1 day late LOL.
MYTV Broadcasting's public relation team is a total rubbish. They suddenly remove the channels without warning, to make way for SukeTV, and then make an announcement 1 day later.

Well, what else can I say? 👏👏👏
*
And not even information card/voiceover regarding the closure of the channel.

They like to remove channels as they like and only give out information about the closure the very next day, only on social media. This only made people wonder what have happened on the channel. Even that crappy Astro give information/have a holding card about channel closures.

Why RTM and Media Prima (Mediacorp and many other broadcasters too) can't properly show 4:3 programs on its proper ratio? It is always great for broadcasters to show old 4:3 programs on its proper ratio, like what TVB/Japanese/European broadcasters has done.

Awesome TV shows old programs intended on 4:3 ratio on it's correct ratio, and it is so awesome! (The exception is the redundant "programme name" when EPG has become so common)

Meanwhile I show another example for TV6 (and other RTM channels), which broadcast programmes on wrong ratio and infested with unnecessary watermarks (date/time, programme name, the infamous syok sendiri "Siaran Digital myFreeview" that is still shown on test transmission channels and others)

Well, programme name watermark infestation is so common on many Asian region Pay TV channels, which defeats the purpose of easily accessible EPG! No wonder OTT services are so popular as it is extremely clean (the exception is those Chinese ones which infests video with their provider logo) (Even Korean TV channels infests their content with program name)

The date and time, plus EPG is easily accessible with the touch of button!

TV9 has a much improved schedule, which the airtime of Wow Shop has been further reduced to the level when CJ WOW SHOP was first launched in 2016. 2pm to 5pm is now used to show additional repeats of dramas, telemovies and more. TV9 looks more like a proper TV channel with good chunk of airtime allocated to shows now.

I speculate that the existence of Awesome TV (according to Media Prima's quarterly report, this is now the third most watched TV channel in the country, behind TV3 and 8TV), TVS, 2 dedicated Wow Shop channels on myFreeview, the decline of Wow Shop revenue, some results on TV9's rating when they rebranded on Sept 2021, competition of other shopping channels such as Go Shop and SukeTV and improved revenue on TV advertising might have resulted to this change.

With improved revenue and profit on Media Prima on total, Media Prima should invest more on original contents across their 3 channels and reduce the reliance on foreign content, plus complete overhaul of the Tonton platform (their OTT platform looks shitty after the 2018/19 rebrand with the VOD features that doesn't even match other TV companies in the region, although they have been promoting their movie VOD feature).
