New channel on MUX 2 (TV6) Channel 113 MYTV, in 1080i HDTV. Closed captioning is available from this channel, so likely it is a new channel from RTM.

Josh HD can made an update for bitrates
MUX 3 coming soon as both MUXes are almost full.

Introducing Awesome Mart...

The days of "zero shopping programmes" on Awesome TV is ending.  sad.gif
Now everyone also wants to air shopping programmes on free TV.

Yes, you might be hating it. But people actually buy the products from there.  sweat.gif Same goes to Go Shop and Wow Shop.
*
Another useless shopping programme invading FTA TV (There are so many of them, including Go Shop *1 + slots on TVAH+TVS , Wow Shop *2 + on TV9, Media Shop on TV2/TVAH, and soon Awesome Mart).

However as people bought items from these shows, it is one of the major income source for the TV station nowadays, which in turn ensure it's survival. (Media Prima managed to reduce loss and even turn in some profit for 2 constitutive quarters, thanks to Wow Shop and soon Didik TV KPM. This is in a time when the advertising revenue is in a heavy loss due to Covid and also general reduced spending on TV/traditional media.)

It is unhealthy for a media company to too rely to foreign content on a era where these are easily accessible online, which is one reason to cause Media Prima to fall until very recent developments that stabilize the company.

Sometimes I do watch these shows to learn how they sell these items when I am too boring.

Just for info sharing... Indonesia's analogue TV switch off (ASO) date will be on 2 Nov 2022.

*
This meant that interference issues between analogue and DTT will gone in South Johor, Singapore and Batam after DSO.

So more retuning early 2023 probably
*
No. The frequency used at the moment are likely to be final. Unless MUX 3 is started of course, which will require retune.

Yep. Sadly for RTM's TV channel logos, they still look the same. Nothing much to hype about it.
*
Well, RTM's typeface on their logos has been looking similar since 1969.

This is called wasting time doing 2 idents when the RTM design department probably know that RTM will change the logo on few days time. Why not rebrand on 1 April?

hello tv sifus, sorry lari topik, if gonna move home temporary coz reno, whats the simplest cheapest way to be able to watch free tv in malaysia (shah alam/pj) ?

got  2 old (2010-2015) small tv (24-40inch)

and some spare android phones, no wifi, mobile data about 5 to 10mbps with 30-40gb to spare. thanks ya,

aunty need to be entertained using old tv viewing habits but can use phone a bit also la.
*
How long if your aunty plan to stay on temporary home (due to renovation?)

As @yongtjunkit says, you may choose to online Live TV setup (link as given above) or also the Unifi playTV option (simpler but requires registration)
However, depending on the picture quality, you may use up to 1-2GB data per hour. Watching TV for long periods might burned up all the allocated monthly data if not monitored carefully.

Watching TV using the terrestrially is also an option. Assuming your given TV set purchase date, Your TV sets are unlikely to support DVB-T2 function, you can get an DVB-T2 set top box and UHF antenna to watch TV broadcasts terrestrially. It won't cost any money or mobile data except for the set top box and antenna.

It's official - 8TV is now a 24 hour channel.
It is done by simply replacing the test card, used since 2003/2004 with a simulcast of One FM + some information graphics instead on the time where the channel will usually show a test card (the time where no programmes was arranged).
A extremely cheap way to fill the previously unused downtime.
Meanwhile, one hour of transmission for TV3 (weekdays) and TV9 (daily) was given to Hot FM and Kool FM simulcast + Information graphics. It replaces the slots previously used by Wanita Hari Ini reruns on 1:30 am (TV3) and between 3:30 am and 4:30 am for TV9 (also airing repeats, mainly informative/lifestyle programming).

Below are the screenshots (taken from playTV@unifi)

Mmm they should've done this long ago. Radio simulcast + info graphics at midnight...

Still better than colour bar and test tone until morning 😂
*
It is pointless and wasteful to show the test card nowadays, especially when Media Prima need to pay for dedicated 24/7 slots. (transmitters can't be taken down during the night as the transmissions are now all digital)
Imagine an average of 5 hours of transmission daily (for 8TV) being wasted by a old 4:3 SD testcard.
This left NTV7 (DidikTV KPM) and RTM TV6 (test transmission) the only channels to have regular closedowns in Malaysia.

Coverage of Indonesian DTT signal (in Batam)
If the signal isn't directional, it should be receivable in most of Singapore and Southern Johor (with High Gain antenna used)
App used : sinyalTVdigital (Not available in Malaysia, I downloaded the APK file that I found online) (The app is meant for Indonesian users, so that's why Malaysia and Singapore is not shown on the coverage map)

RCTI MUX (Ch44/658MHz) (The best possible MUX to try, as the signal is very strong)

Attached Image

SCTV MUX (Ch42/642MHz)

Attached Image

Trans TV MUX (Ch46/674MHz)

Attached Image

TVRI MUX (Ch48/690MHz) (the TX in Sekupang)

Indonesia is going to switch off analogue signal very soon. (17 Aug for Batam and some other areas) Total switchover will complete by 2 Nov 2022. When the analogue signal is switched off, Batam viewers can again watch Malaysian Digital TV (650/682MHz) without interference.

Ah, so 17 Aug 2021 will be the analogue switch off for Batam, Indonesia. Finally...  rclxms.gif
Are you able to receive any Indonesian digital TV channels at your JB area now?

Or anyone here from Johor Bahru, using outdoor UHF antenna, able to receive it?
*
Yet to attempt for the reception. Will need a stronger outdoor antenna instead. However the transmitter power is so strong (RCTI MUX) that some attempt can be done to receive the signal in my area. This is assuming that the the antenna parameters isn't directional.

I wonder how these coverage maps are made? Do they do local observations of signal strength or they just plot the theoretical signal strength via some kind of program? If yes, what program?
*
I don't know what program they are currently using but likely done with a measurement software.

"Since Wow Shop and Didik TV KPM can somehow make Media Prima survive, so why even bother to care those haters and naysayers that keep telling Media Prima to stop airing Wow Shop whole day anyway? biggrin.gif
Most importantly, as long they don't retrench employees or reduce salaries will do.  biggrin.gif  Other than that, nah, not important. "

On the good side, this has resulted some new programmes on TV9 after almost 3 year hiatus. The public will eventually have more programmes to watch when Media Prima makes a profit.

All Malaysian TV Channels are working.

Tested, all stable, just that i have to put tape in it.

A few questions:

How about the signal levels (for Malaysian DTT channels)?

Did you manage to receive Indonesian DTT TV channels at your location?

Hye guys..i'm living in seremban..and currently using sony x700g..what do i need to do to receive digital broadcasting..sorry this is my first experience wth dttv..
*
In Seremban, higher gain outdoor UHF antenna (such as the 14E) is recommended to receive MYTV DTT transmission as the supposed local transmitter (Telapak Burok) is not within the list of MYTV main transmitters.

Malaysia uses the DVB-T2 format for DTT and since your TV has the DVB-T2 support, all you need to have is an outdoor UHF antenna. Try point the UHF antenna to Bukit Tampin first (Frequency : 546/562MHz). If you can't receive anything after numerous tries, try point the antenna to one of the Klang Valley transmitters (Frequency : 650/666MHz).

Try auto scan first before trying to manual scan (while you adjust your antenna for optimal reception).

Observations on the joint simulcast for the 2020 SPM press conference on RTM TV1/Berita RTM (within Selamat Pagi Malaysia), TV3, NTV7 (Didik TV KPM), Bernama TV and Astro Awani

It seems like Astro Awani takes the dirty feed from RTM (which seems to be a different feed from NTV7, as there isn't any sign language interpretions until much later for RTM's feed.)
Meanwhile, TV3/NTV7 and Bernama shares the same feed, but with some differences as both get clean, independent feeds (Bernama didn't have slide shows while the feed on NTV7 has slide shows). TV3 obviously shares the clean feed with NTV7 (Didik TV KPM) as they are under the same company.

So far I never see Astro Awani ever takes clean feed from RTM. They always take the dirty feed (aka straight from TV1) to be shown on their channels, and across Astro channels.
Clean feed = need to pay more money?  hmm.gif
*
On the PM or King Speech/Defence Minister press conference/COVID daily cases, all the channels who relay it live (except for RTM of course) takes the dirty feed from TV1/Berita RTM. Initially, Media Prima takes the dirty feed from TV1 but later switched to Berita RTM (so that they could place the watermarks without watermark overlay). Other channels (TV Alhijrah/Astro Awani/BERNAMA TV) continues to take the dirty feed from TV1. Maybe it is much simpler taking a dirty feed over the air than owning a dedicated feed.

Interestingly, for TV Alhijrah, they continue to take the SD feed from TV1 even when a HD feed is available on both terrestrially and also on Astro/FTA Satellite. Not sure if they had changed this. (They even do that for Al-Quran competition too, even when the channel is supposedly owned by the Prime Minister Office/JAKIM, when I do a channel surf in the past)

For Education Ministry related conferences, it would be very awkward for Media Prima to take dirty feed from RTM or to have no access to dedicated feed for that, especially when they are the host for the Educational TV (NTV7/Didik TV KPM).

Seems like only hypptv got parlimen channel, why other providers like astro dun have this channel? Exclusive contracts? Imo we should have dedicated parlimen channel for the public to see on other platforms (Astro, MYTV) (ofc we need the bandwidth on other platforms at the first place).
*
This is the question for RTM. They already have dedicated feeds for the parliament via their streaming platform RTM Klik, accessible to the public but I didn't understand why they aren't carrying the channel on all other platforms.
