QUOTE(funnyTONE @ Jan 23 2008, 04:03 AM) A tip of advice to JJ Abrams (if he's reading this). If you wanna make Cloverfield a memorable, household name, you must have a score - the music for the monster. You know JAWS was such a success not only because of the story, but because just by listening to its score, you know straight away, its JAWS. More legendary score examples - Star Wars, Rambo, Superman, Matrix, Titanic, Jurrasic Park. Your mention about a movie score reminded me about the music that played over the end credits of Cloverfield, which sounded like exactly like a soundtrack from a classic 1960s monster movie. It was a subtle touch that I enjoyed; the filmmakers stuck with a non-traditional route for the movie itself but for the end credits score they went back to traditional monster movie roots.

Eh no, how can you have a score you you wish to maintain it as a realistic videocam experience.
The "ROAR!" end credits score by michael giacchino was awesome though.

the score should be like this...
"oh my god!!oh my god!!" -during the head dropped from the sky...
oh ya...they do play music at the background during the party...havent u heard?
"you're way too beautiful girl~"
"get the cool, get the cool shoeshine~"

Getting Started

|
Watch it the 3rd time today... full house, only two person left the theater hall... whoa... 2... and this time I didn't hear anyone say rubbish, waste of money of anything negative... and there are a few people staying in the cinema hall for the end credits (which was better when the last 2 viewing, everyone left when the end credit appear)... my 2 friends enjoy the movie a lot... and I make one blunder...
Rhoyo mention about the bridge how come there are no cars... actually, the people were not walking on the main bridge but on a pedestrian bridge... I only notice it the 3rd time when Hud was recording while he was watching the news... there is a small bridge there (pedestrian walkway) over there...
On regards of the last scene... yes, it was less than a second... I finally see it clearly something did fell from the sky... all speculations or production notes aside... there is something significant about it... be serious, not a satelite that drops down and wakes up the monster... sheesh...
I am waiting for the DVD to be release to hear the commentaries for sure... just to learn the secrets behind it. And still towards the end credits, I still can't hear what that make voice was saying... no more speculations... 3rd time for this movie is good enough...
If Cloverfield manage to make another USD 40 mil by end of the week... this is a monster hit...

QUOTE(funnyTONE @ Jan 23 2008, 04:03 AM) I really wanan admit I'm a true believer after watching Cloverfield, but I can't give it a 10/10 rating. Personally, because there is not much replay value in watching it again the second time (except to look for the easter eggs). I mean, Deep Rising isn't really a revolutionary movie, but I've watched it more than 10 times because of the entertainment value. I guess that is what Cloverfield lacking. This movie has so much strength in the cinematography and plot direction as well as the whole mystery and clues left by the movie. But once you know all that, once we go pass everything shown...it'll probably be left there. Maybe its the handycam issue, because watching it the first time is okay, but more than that, you'll just be reminded again why you're watching an amateur footage when there are other movies for your entertainment purpose? Even so, 9/10 is my rating for this movie for the impact it gave to me even after watching the movie. A tip of advice to JJ Abrams (if he's reading this). Again...i think u still unable to get the whole idea of this movie. If u pickup a video cam and then u play it. Got nice song with it or not? -.-"" QUOTE(A-Ren @ Jan 23 2008, 06:02 PM) Just watched the movie. Sigh its a waste of money really. The ending was also like WHAT??????????? Ehmm so what? No ending?
