QUOTE(pehkay @ Apr 12 2020, 06:24 PM) Wah brother, the irony of Acts 15 where James gave this word. Hah .... I wish I could go on .... but not all subscribed or have the same understanding as I have toward James. But that is ok ... .... sometimes, brother, I also felt lazy to clarify my position on this. LOL I can only say, James is a person must is a mixture of God's New Testament economy with the Old. He was not strong in the revelation of God’s New Testament economy in Christ, but was still under the influence of the background of the old Judaic religion—to worship God with ceremonies and live a life in the fear of God. This is proved by Acts 21:20-24 and James 2:2-11. In verse 21 James gives the reason for his judgment concerning the matter: "For Moses from ancient generations has in every city those who proclaim him in the synagogues, being read every Sabbath." Here we have the basis for James’ fellowship. He tells us that in solving the problem caused by the heretical Judaizers we need to take care of the fact that the law of Moses is read in the synagogues every Sabbath. This is the reason James gives for charging the Gentiles to abstain from pollutions of idols, fornication, anything strangled, and blood. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Unfortunately, this solution could not have been satisfactory to Paul, who says in Galatians 2:19, “I through law have died to law that I might live to God.” In contrast to such a word, James’ fellowship causes the New Testament believers to return to considering the law. This indicates that the concluding word given by James was still under the influence of the Mosaic law, due to his heavy Judaic background. As we shall see, the influence of this background still remained even at the time Paul paid his last visit to Jerusalem (Acts 21:20-26).
At the end, whether one abstain from blood (which is biblical and consistent) or not, it is really irrevelant ... rather one lived to God and have the reality of God.
We tend to fall into this trap: that there are two different kinds of people: one kind does evil, and the other kind does good. According to good and evil, these two kinds of people are absolutely different. Yet in the matter of putting God aside and not giving God any place, they are absolutely the same. Just as those who do evil put God aside, so those who do good also put God aside. Just as those who do evil do not give God any room, so those who do good also do not give God any room. These two kinds of people behave differently-one does good and the other does evil; nevertheless, they have exactly the same kind of attitude toward God. Those who do evil give up the law, thereby rejecting God, and those who do good keep the law, thereby also rejecting God. The former forsake God by violating the law, while the latter forsake God by observing the law. Both groups of people have problems because of the law. The first group of people give up God because they have broken the law, whereas the second group forsake God because they consider that they have kept the law. Hence, we can see that both these conditions of rejecting God are related to the law.
Rather, God desire that man be filled with the God as his or her reality. Then the living out of this inward spiritual reality is "counted" in the eyes of God be in may in his or her action in abstaining from blood or not. For one could abstain yet inwardly be void of the reality of touching or gaining God. Then it is vanity!.
. The Jerusalem Decree of ACTS.15:19-29 was issued by the apostles and elders of the Jerusalem Church, ie not just by James, the bishop of Jerusalem and misguided leader of the Judaizers. IOW, they sided with Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, against misguided or erring James. . PS - Someone has just reported my post at about 12:05 PM. Wonder who.? .

There is no bad guy or good guy or any sides;Yes, it is true that the first group of apostles and elders in Jerusalem should have taken care of this heretical teaching before it had the opportunity to spread to the Gentile churches. The fact that it was not dealt with in Jerusalem indicates that there were certain shortcomings with Peter and James. They must be held responsible for the situation. By the time this heresy spread to Antioch, it was too late for Paul and Barnabas to deal with it. This made it necessary for them to go up to Jerusalem in order to touch the source of the problem. BUT, in Acts 15 we have the unique conference held by the apostles of the universal church and the elders of the local church in Jerusalem. Both were the leading ones in the Lord’s New Testament move on earth. There was no chairman. Acts 15:7 says, “Much discussion had taken place.” This indicated that everyone in the conference had the freedom to speak. The decision made was based on the testimony shared by Peter (vv. 7-11), the facts related by Barnabas and Paul (v. 12), and the concluding word given by James, who was the leading one among the apostles and elders in Jerusalem (12:7; 21:18; Gal. 1:19; 2:9) because of the influence he exercised over the believers through his piety. Although he was deeply influenced by the Jewish religion, under the sovereignty of the Holy Spirit, he shut Judaism out of the church. Acts 15 opens the eyes of the church and allows the church to escape the bondage of Judaism and the rule of Jerusalem. Thus, the church can spread freely. Satan wanted to use Judaism and Jerusalem to control, limit, prohibit, and restrict the spread of the church. But God wanted to spread to the Gentiles, to the uttermost part of the earth. It is a nice view of the early churchlife where all problems can be solved by proper fellowship in the Spirit under the leading of the Lord. There is no head, only the Lord Himself is. So, let's drop the Paul vs James ... Paul vs Peter (later) ..... XD XD Even later ... Paul himself also falls to the same trap ... in Acts 16 ... The Parable of the Wheat and Tares at MATT.13:36-43 says that there would always be at least 2 opposing sides even among the Christian Churches(eg misguided and misbelieving Christian cults) until the day of the 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ to earth, to exact judgment upon the misguided and misbelieving tares in the Church, and also upon unbelievers. . Looking to Christ Looking to Grace Part 1 Titus 2:11-12 (NIV) - For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,
In our previous devotion, I've shared why we need to look away from the Law. It doesn't end there. We cannot just look away from the Law and that's it. It will be spiritual death for us. We must look at something In this continuing devotions, we will now begin to look at Christ and what does it mean. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Why we need to look away from the law for justification before God
Good Day fellow believers of Christ. Hope you doing well.
I am for God's law but for the purpose what God designed the law for.
We cannot call the law what it is not. As we know the law cannot save us. There is nothing wrong with the Law,It is Holy and Righteous because it's God' own commandment. The law is like a mirror, if it shows you to be ugly or handosme, then you cannot blame the mirror. However with that being said, we need to understand why God gave the law and what's it's function and what has happen to it under the light of the new covenant.
The Law is weak and useless
Hebrews 7:18 (KJV) - For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof
Romans 8:3 (KJV) - For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh,
The Law cannot impart Righteousness or Life
Galatians 3:21 (NIV) - Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law.
The Law is a ministry of death 2 Corinthians 3:7 (NIV) - Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, transitory though it was,
The Law is not the reality
Hebrews 10:1 (NIV) - The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming--not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship.
The Old Covenant is obselete, there is a change
Hebrews 7:12 (NIV) - For when the priesthood is changed, the law must be changed also.
Hebrews 7:11 (NIV) - If perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood--and indeed the law given to the people established that priesthood--why was there still need for another priest to come, one in the order of Melchizedek, not in the order of Aaron?
Hebrews 8:13 (NIV) - By calling this covenant "new," he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear
The purpose of God's law is to trigger sin. Romans 5:20 (NIV) - The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more,
1 Corinthians 15:56 (NIV) - The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
Why then did God gave the Law?
Galatians 3:19 (NLT) - Why, then, was the law given at all? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come. The law was given through angels and entrusted to a mediator.
The Law was design to cause man to acknowledge sin. This is the meaning in Galatians 3:19...The Law was added because of trasngression. There is NO OTHER reason other than this. Well besides to trigger sin, but that is part and parcel of God's Law.
The law was never design to save man, neither impart righteousness. It is to bring Man to the end of himself. To give up trying saving himself by own performance ie through obediance to the Law. I use this as the strongest emphasize to easily understand.
Where then is the Hope?
Well as how the Bible says it. Thanks be to God for Jesus Christ. THERE is your hope, there is your Salvation.
With all that's being said, look away from the Law, Look to Jesus Christ
God Bless Titus 2:11 tells us The Grace of God has "appeared" bringing Salvation..but wait a minute, how has it appear? Appear here gives the idea....it came to show oneself..to appear as a light. Well..If you look at John 1:17, it says Grace and Truth "CAME" by Jesus Christ. God sent the Law through a servant Moses, there was a distance But Grace came personally revealed by Jesus Christ. If you link up these 2 verses, you will understand GRACE is the VERY person of Jesus Christ!.
And what is Grace? Grace is unearned or unmerited favour. In the context of the Bible, Grace = unearned or unmerited favour of God.
That is why Salvation is a gift. Gift is something that you cannot earned. If one says that Salvation depends on our obediance to God's law then it is merited by our obediance, no longer a gift. But as it is, we all know Salvation can never be merited by our performances. When I use the word performances it is to indicate how well we score in doing good, being obediant to God. Now there's nothing wrong with doing those but we need to understand, if we base our confidence in those merits, we are going back to the Old Covenant of the Law in OT.
There are 2 things Grace can do.
1. It Offers Salvation 2. it teaches to say no to ungodliness.**
As Christians, these 2 things is something, we want in the objective of our spiritual life.
Until we learn to "let go" looking at the law (trying to merit) we cannot embrace Grace. When I say "let go"..I really mean "let go". Break it off like divorcing Mr. Law as your husband. It is that serious. (Romans 7:3)
I know it is very uncomfortable for some of you......having nothing to do in ourselves to ensure Salvation, except to believe in what God has promised. Just by believing? Does God wants us to be in this vurnerable position where we cannot be ensured of Salvation based on what we do? Answer is Yes.
Then what about living righteously? What about Faith without works is dead? What about being Holy, abstaining from sin, repentance, etc etc?
Have I not just told you what Grace can do? Look again carefully the 2nd point** Grace is what saves us, Grace will lead us Home to a Holy God who is our Father in Heaven. Read the 2nd point carefully. Grace teaches us to say "NO" to ungodliness. It doesn't get clearer than that. What this means is that, if you don't embrace Grace, you're not going to get out of ungodliness. There is no other answer. The way of God is different from what we think is natural!
This side tracking of being worried about living righteously worried about Faith without works is dead, worried about being Holy, abstaining from sin, repentance, etc etc is the work of Satan in distracting you from Scripture Truth. The accuser wants you to be under the "custody" of the law so that you't won't know why you can never escape.
The Bible has been cleared, the way out of sin is to be under Grace to which I will share in the coming devotion parts. Until then we need to understand, why we need to look to Christ, looking to Grace, no more to the Law.
Be at rest brethren, Christ has finished the work to save you.

https://nypost.com/2020/04/13/virginia-past...=site%20buttons - Virginia pastor who defiantly held church service dies of coronavirus - By Lee Brown, April 13, 2020 QUOTE He practiced what he preached — then he died of coronavirus.
An evangelical pastor died of COVID-19 just weeks after proudly showing off how packed his Virginia church was — and vowing to keep preaching “unless I’m in jail or the hospital.”
In his last known in-person service on March 22, Bishop Gerald O. Glenn got his congregation at Richmond’s New Deliverance Evangelistic Church to stand to prove how many were there despite warnings against gatherings of more than 10 people.
“I firmly believe that God is larger than this dreaded virus. You can quote me on that,” he said, repeating it a second time to claps, saying that “people are healed” in his church. . Another example of government-defying Christian pastors/teachers who are/were likely false, misguided and have/had wrong beliefs about the Word of God or Bible = those who do not have the inner fruit of the Spirit and often practice lawlessness outwardly - MATT.7:15-23 & 22:21, ROMANS.13:1-13. Beware of such false prophets/pastors/bishops/teachers. .

QUOTE(boarulez @ Apr 17 2020, 10:44 AM) Anyway to overcome grief ? One way is to share it out, vent it out, completely get it out of your system. Then pray. Ask Father God for Grace, healing, strenght. It'll take time. But God will be with you in the process.

QUOTE(boarulez @ Apr 17 2020, 10:44 AM) Anyway to overcome grief ? So sorry to hear. Every grief passes through 5 stages: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. If you are a man especially, allow your emotions to release: anger, pain, sadness, feeling relieved etc. It's important not to carry too much of emotions with you. And as a child of God, be certain your loved one is in God's hand right now. Seek counselling if you need to - MCO period has a few toll free counselling number, which is very helpful. May God gives you comfort during this difficult time.

Looking to Christ Looking to Grace Part 2Romans 5:17 (NIV) - For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!
Good Day to you fellow believers of our Lord Jesus Christ
Today we'll continue on how looking to Grace will lead us out of the bondage of sin. I am for very much in support of God's Law for what it's designed to do. The explaination is below
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « God's Law was given and designed to bring Man to the end of himself, to give up trying to reach God via it. With this in mind, one should understand we cannot look to something that cannot give life but Death. <--- Yes Death. Both of this is stated in the Bible, God's Law cannot bring Life and God's Law minister Death.
Now by saying this I also need to say there is nothing wrong with God's Law, it is Holy and Righteous because God's Law is from God Himself. God's Law is as perfect as God himself. But we need to understand the function of God's Law in correlation with Sin. I'm sure those who read their bible will understand this. Do read Galatians 3:21 & 2 Corinthians 3:7. People by now knows that I strongly preach on Grace. And No where does the Gospel of God's Grace teaches believers to sin as they like just because there is grace.
That idea is from the Devil. Even apostle Paul was accused of this. Should one sin that grace may abound? (Romans 6:1). Apostle Paul was reiterating what people accuse him of. Same thing people accuse me in this forum so I know what I teach is inline with apostle Paul. There will be people who misunderstand, I'm not saying I'm as good as Apostle Paul, far be it, I'm not worthy. The Devil uses this errornous idea to bring fear and to divert believers eyes from God's Grace. The Devil wants the Law to be "THE" focus because he knows because of God's Law's design, it will cause Sin to have dominion over the believer. You may ask me, why say so? Isn't God's Law or commandment meant to lead believers into holiness?
Too often we forget and I dare stake you will forget by tomorrow..... because Man inherited sin, God's Law brings death instead. <---This is where we have missed it.
Once you have read the spoiler, you will understand why we need to so urgently and critically look away from God's Law and start looking to Grace as believers.
In Part 1 of this devotion we now know Grace Teaches to say No to ungodliness. That is very powerful. Grace. No where in the Bible you will find scripture saying the Law will lead to say NO to Ungodliness, time and time again it's always grace. And how?
Romans 5:17! That is how. What do I mean? We need to everyday wakeup and receive 2 things. Abudance of Grace and God's Gift of righteousness. We need to daily receive this by Faith and practise it. Everyday reject your own righteousness that comes from the Law and recive the New Covenant Righteousness. There ALWAYS this tendency to think because I did not sin against God today ( I didn't do anything wrong), that makes me safe and it gives me passage to heaven. I dare stake this is how most of us think as Christians. Do you know by that you're relying on God's Law for righteousness and passage to heaven?
We need to daily repent and say....It's not what I do but what Christ has done for me, how I am righteous and right before God is because of Christ obediance not mine. Where in scripture is the proof of that?
Romans 5:19 (NIV) - For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
Do you see that friends? By the obediance of ONE MAN, (not yours) we are made righteous. Receive this as Grace Gift. Receive this Grace Abudantly! Everyday! The devil will whisper in your ears, God is not that good, God is not so graceful to give you these 2 gifts. Friends of Christ...REJECT the devils thought!
Receive 2 things daily..Abudance of God's unmerited Grace and the Gift of God's righteousness!

Keep our tongues from evil
1 Peter 3:8-12 (NIV) -
8 Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. 9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. 10 For,
“Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech.
11 They must turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it.
12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
====================================
Friends Love on another. Watch what we speak from our tongue. We all fall short of this, myself included. But take heart. Understand that you have been made clean by the blood of the lamb, while you are still in your imperfection, because you have been saved by God, strive for what is right not by your own standard but by what God ask of you. Do this knowing God knows better. Submit to his Word while admitting God knows better.
God Bless.

What God calls a different Gospel?
Galatians 1:6 (NKJV) - I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel,
Good Day friends.
We often heard of the phrase a diferrent gospel, you're preaching a different Christ. We are warned to be wary of false gospel or false teacher.
Do you want to know what God calls a different gospel?
If you look at the scripture verse above. Do you see the phrase Turning away from Jesus who called you into his grace?
Anyone who propogate a gospel that is not based on the Grace of Christ = a different gospel.
What does that mean?
In 2 Corinthians 3:6, Bible tells us that God has permit or sanction only 1 kind of ministry. The ministry that leads to life and in that same verse it tells us to no longer go back to the 10 commandments which kills. The Bible is very specific in saying this. We are to be ministers of the new covenant of the spirit that gives life.
Time and time again the Bible emphasize that the word "Letter" kills. Do you know that the phrase "Letter" here refers to the Handwritting of God on 2 tablets? You can check this out in 2 Corinthians 3:7.
2 Corinthians 3:6 (NIV) - He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant--not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 2 Corinthians 3:7 (NIV) - Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, transitory though it was,
God Bless

God is bigger than corona virus?
Proverbs 22:3 (NIV) - The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.
Good day Christians.
While it is true that God is bigger than the coronovirus but that doesn't mean we put our hand into the fire to see if it burns knowing God is for us. That would be foolish if not stupid.
Proverbs 22:3 is aptly given to me while I was praying to God. Jesus did say in Luke 4:12 telling us never to put God to the test. I share this devotion with you because there have been news of pastors around the world ignoring the danger of coronavirus, not that I believe they are false teachers but the zeal at that point in time was unfortunate without knowledge. If they have accepted Christ, pastors that have passed away due to coronavirus does not lose out, they are more ALIVE with God in heaven.
With that being said, do not think God will not protect you. God is indeed for you but understand his promises are effective when we don't put God to the test. If you have to go out, continue believing the prayers you have prayed in protection against corona virus.
Live your live of faith unshaken and grounded in God's word.
God Bless.
