QUOTE(dopodplaya @ Jul 6 2007, 07:44 PM) It's not the DirectX 10 problem that cause degrading performance of DirectX 10 games. It is rather bad driver and bad programming/patches of games. Lol..sounds ridiculous because i am using an 8600GS in my laptop and i can't even find drivers aside from the ones the laptop manufacturer gave. I find no problems with DX10 in CoH though some of those using desktops are reporting severe framrate issues. The hardware and the DirectX 10 libraries are ready to be used, there is no info on defective DirectX 10 atm. Anyways your suggestion is ridiculous. I still suggest waiting. Wait until it matures. I do apologize if it sounds ridiculous. |

QUOTE(jinaun @ Jul 6 2007, 04:55 PM) well.. i would suggest getting a matured DX10 hardware you3 generations means how long? 1 year? 2 years....???how to define matured.. for example.. in directx9 for ATI the first card is radeon 9700 and X1950XT is the last in the DX9 range of hardware. and for nvidia, geforcefx is DX9 in its first form and 7900GTX is the last or was it called matured DX9 card. for ati/nvidia, it takes abt 3 generations of their range of cards for DX9 to reach where it is now. |

QUOTE(woopypooky @ Jul 6 2007, 07:48 PM) any dx 10 card (around rm 500-600) which is better than my 6800GS dx 9 card? in terms of pipeline, memory clock and processor clock and bit. ANY DX10 card that costs RM500 and above. X1650 and 7600GT (last-gen) already killed 6800Ultra, most notable X1650.6800GS is not gonna play Oblivion in crazily nice mode. The new cards will. DX10 will mature but at what point do you consider mature enough? Don't forget that drivers are constantly tweak and will usually improve frame rates even years down the line.I still suggest waiting. I guess it boils down to a few factors: 1) How long you can wait before you want to play DX10 games 2) How lower do you want the prices to drop 3) How much you're willing to spend 4) How mature do you want vista and DX10 drivers to be I'm also waiting but probably until I see some real reason to get a DX10 card and also some reviews on the performance of these cards on true DX10 games. So far, those DX10 games that are out are disappointing! Don't forget, as Vista/DX10 drivers/DX10 games mature, the frame rates will also improve...... |

noob question here, what does AA or MSAA has to do with maximum addressable memory address thingy? Does that mean to fully feel the DX10 eyecandies, do we need to migrate to 64bit OS?

But newer games tend to have higher requirements, and in a year or two 4gb of memory will not seem very big anymore. |

Nvidia Geforce 5, 6, 7 VS Ati Radeon 9xxx, x800, X1xxx
All the above r Direct x 9 a/b/c card but to play DIRECT X 9.0c games, 3Dmark06, etc only the later G 7 & R X1xxx series r consider GOOD & smooth G6 & Rx800 ok, G5 & R9xxx capable but NOT OK ( but u can use them to play DX8 ) So expect 2 more generation Direct x 10 ( 10.1/2/3? / 10.a/b/c ) from MICROSOFT + & VGA Card from ATI & Nvidia. Games Producers will not make that can run DX10 only. No everyone has VISTA even in the usa. unless pirated Ver. The game will no sell if they can only run on vista. FOR me if i have a good Nvidia G79xx or ATi R19xx I will move to DX10 when VISTA after SP1/2, G9 / ATI R3xxx. But if i have a G6 & Rx800 or G5 & R9xxx and cannot wait then buying G 8 & R2xxx now is consider a good move. All the above r just personal preference bcoz i m just normal man with LIMITED BUDGET Those who r earning a lot / rich, do not have to think just buy new card now, play DX10 now, ENJOY THE GAME NOW. |

^^
every generation of gc has their associated generation of games. Compare games released in 2004 and now, both using dx9c, but which one look better overall? 3 years ago people can brag about their rm2k 6800 ultra and its the best card to run all available games released that time. Today we can also brag for rm2k 8800 gtx and it too can play all available games today. The graphic complexity is growing in according to the complexity of GC, back to 3 years ago, no one average joe could realize the importance of MSAA or HDR as it is now. |

Don't forget that drivers are constantly tweak and will usually improve frame rates even years down the line. Once developers start picking up the pace on developing media around DX10, then would it be best to shift to DX10. Having just a few games, which you can count on your fingers btw, using DX10 isn't a good use of DX10 at the moment IMHO.I guess it boils down to a few factors: 1) How long you can wait before you want to play DX10 games 2) How lower do you want the prices to drop 3) How much you're willing to spend 4) How mature do you want vista and DX10 drivers to be I'm also waiting but probably until I see some real reason to get a DX10 card and also some reviews on the performance of these cards on true DX10 games. Like what dopodplaya said, let the driver support and programming improve, then switch to DX10. There might be new stuff out by then, depending on how fast stuff is ironed out. |
