Ya bro, was telling my wife last night I have no business liking a Huawei phone without GMS, but this phone is growing on me!

TBH, its a still a very good phone, even for a flagship from last year. I have no complains on my side because I have GMS running perfectly since first installation a year ago.

I've read that from somewhere also that GMS is the culprit for battery drain.

Bro... all android phones comes with GMS. With the exception of Huawei's latest phones. Google Play services and Google Playstore ARE part of GMS.

Yes, but phones like OnePlus and Realme can aggressively surpress the background activity when it goes into deep sleep or doze mode.

But still wont beat a phone without GMS installed.

Yeah, but GMS is the backbone for most Android apps bro - you’ll get error messages when running these apps like how we do on the Mate 30 Pro but thankfully a large number of these apps still work after the error messages pop up

Just an update on this matter. Huawei Store @ Lazada provides a new code for the discount. This time it is working. So if anyone has an issue with the code. Pls contact them to get a new code. 1999 minus 100 then. 😆

This morning, I woke up and saw that my phone still had 50% battery left on my phone, having done over 5 hours SOT the previous day...



So I figured I'd try to get through the work day without charging the phone till I got home. Did pack my charger just in case though. But my fears were unfounded, this phone easily got me home from work.

It's all due to the outstanding signal reception of this device...

Full bars signal strength consumes less energy. BTW, try dual-SIM mode and the SoT may be cut by around 10%...

The other thing to note was that I was at the office the whole day yesterday and today for meetings, so a lot of dependency on WiFi. LTE only during morning breakfast before work (45 minutes or a bit more a day) and lunch hour (an hour or a bit less a day). So that works out to about 30% to 35% on LTE and remaining on WiFi.

What also helped was the standby drain. Very, very good!

No GMS is proving to be a good thing for battery life!
