Can you all try download Smart Selangor Parking from AppGallery, do you get a popup regarding google location not able to use?
*
There is a simple method but must copy and paste if you want to use other apps not yet available in Google Play store. Some apps cannot because they're use some features of GMS but most can.

Here are the steps

1. Use browser go search into Google Play or you can login to see MyApp.
2. Select or search the apps you want to download, copy the www link
3. Open https://apps.evozi.com/apk-downloader/ and paste the link
4. Download the apk into USB drive (with USB type C OTG)
5. Install apps from USB for your beloved Huawei/Honor phone

Note, all GMS methods posted before May9 2020 will not worked because Google has sued and taken down.

Too early to tell. Just set it up last night, and with the workarounds like Petal Search and Aptoide, only about 10 of my frequently used apps still can’t be installed/won’t work or have no substitutes (out of 55 or 60). Some aren’t so crucial (like McDonalds, Expedia) and some are important (like Citibank, HSBC) but I have a second phone for those, so we’ll see if I can live with (or rather without) them for the next two weeks.

A couple of things that have stood out to me: -

1. Both Face Unlock and the FP reader is BLAZING fast! No other brand comes close - the Face Unlock is even faster than iPhone’s Face ID coz it has the option to unlock without sliding up. The in display FP reader puts the likes of Samsung and Xiaomi to shame. I’ll reserve my assessment on the OnePlus since I have yet to test their new one on the OP8, but it’s definitely faster and better than my last OnePlus, the OP7 Pro.

2. The battery life has been impressive. I unplugged at 98% capacity last night yesterday at about 8pm, set up the apps and what not, then updated the phone twice (now running on August 2020 security updates) and the battery is now at 68%, after a little over 4 hours SOT. Of course, this was all done mostly on WiFi. The real test starts today laugh.gif

Installing is one case but using the apps is another. Let us know if there is any problem.

actually sideloading GMS is not difficult and worth all the effort. I tried to adapt to no-GMS for few hours already suffer a lot from can't find my passwords to where are all my photos to non-google app crashing (!!!) like Amazon photos crash without reason (alamak).

After GMS is installed, i can now enjoy the phone to the fullest, I especially (always) liken the battery on Huawei flagship phones and the everything run smoothly with the powerful kirin 990 , also the virtual volume buttons is not an issue for me, so all good!

Ya, the acid test starts today. A lot of the installed apps prompted that it won't work without Google Play Services laugh.gif

But to be fair I'm giving it two weeks minimum.

What happen after two weeks if everything fails to meet expectation? To the garage sale? Haha. Very eager to know your outcome after two weeks. Haven't unbox mine yet.

I can attest to that. The on screen FP sensor is indeed faster and unlocks smoother than on the likes of the OP8.

Even if everything meets expectations chances are I will sell off the phone in 4-6 weeks max, bro. It's just what I do, hahaha. But ya, if it doesn't work out within the first two weeks I'll either try to sideload GMS as an experiment or revert to a different phone. I have a Poco X3 NFC incoming in the next couple of weeks or so and still have my Realme 6.

Oh i see, so your profession is phone tester? Haha. Any phone that you want to let go cheap cheap? If it has been molested by you for 3 to 4 weeks and willing to let go cheap cheap, I'm ok. Hahaha

Waze works fine on my P40 with HMS, I installed it from Petal Search.

Make sure GPS is on.

QUOTE(gilbertarenas @ Sep 12 2020, 08:44 PM)
To make this fair for app gallery developers, I actually did a full run with P40 pro for about a week. Other than Grab & Google Map & Big Pay, I dont particularly miss anything tbh.
*
From my experience, the only app I miss is Bigpay and SoCar. Bigpay has no available APK whereas SoCar couldn't login to my account.

Other than that, apps that are yet to be available on App Gallery can be solved with Petal Search, even Grab (just that the map doesn't work which can't pinpoint a location) and Google Maps is usable.
