Exactly what I have been wondering. I am more interested in the ECG than Apple Pay. This the whole reason why I bought the AW5.

Out of curiosity, I actually wrote to KKM to ask. The Corporate Communications department replied that the relevant department will reply back soon

Wow, that's good to know actually. So you mean that you are able to see the ECG app in your MY AW when you are in SG? Because the "activation" of the ECG functionality actually happens when you open the app. It was previously not possible for Malaysia AW simply because we cannot find the app anywhere on our watch.

Here's some screenshot from iOS 14 beta:
In Health App, open your profile, select Health checklist:
[attachmentid=10522291]

This will list down all the features available to you:
[attachmentid=10522290]

EDIT: ECG functionality is still there on my AW though, not sure how Apple will handle this as we move nearer to iOS 14 release (somewhere Sept)

Hmm my stated ECG is active - no mentioned of unavailable for region. I’m on iOS14 Beta + WatchOS 7 Beta as well.

Hi guys, which version should i be getting? Considering between the cellular version vs the regular one
My primary usage will be for:
1) Octopus(touchngo equivalent in HK) for MTR daily
2) Spotify with airpods? possible? or must I use Apple Music? Planning to leave phone at home and go jogging with airpods
3) Apple Pay
4) Receiving calls with airpods? Need cellular for this?

Thanks. I've been so outdated with technology please enlighten me haha

Also, is the SS sapphire glass worth it over the regular aluminum Ion glass? I assume ill be using it for around 7 years before they stop updating it

Your Apple Watch battery will probably last you 3 years. After that you will not be able to use the watch effectively as you will need to charge the battery etc. very often.

Your post prompted me to check my local ECG availability:

QUOTE
Jul 23, 2019 - The Apple Watch ECG function is finally live in Singapore, 10 months after the debut of the Apple Watch Series 4 last September.

I didn’t even know that! But it’s not like I’m using that function at the moment.

I assume there’ll be a cost involved in the receiving and reading of that ECG?

Many Beta users have done the activation with us and confirmed this as well. "Unavailable for region" did not display on their devices.

However, most of them were in the latest beta.

yeap, that was from beta 1 =) it no longer appears as unavailable after beta 2

EDIT: also, it was probably just a bug on the health app, I was still able to use my ECG while on beta 1 previously, so no biggie

While you're at it, do ask for TouchNGo usage as well. It's a game changer in HK. Nowadays i make most payments with it + transportation like MTR/buses with a tap of the watch. Plus, with Apple Pay and cellular, I rarely even use my wallet/phone much, maybe except for buying food at certain old school brick and mortar stores. I could literally leave my phone and wallet in my bag all day at work. I've been holding back on purchasing since AW1 because I thought it wasn't really useful until the Octopus(touchngo equivalent) and Apple Pay features came along. I couldn't care less about the ECG but it's nice to have the fall detection feature. Jogging with just the watch and airpods is something Steve Jobs probably didn't even envision couple years back.

Haha I don’t think KKM handles Touchngo or Apple Pay. I think there is a petition to request Apple to introduce Apple Pay to Malaysia so until that happens, Touchngo on Apple Pay might need to wait
