Why are we having a petition for Apple Pay in Malaysia but not for introduction of ECG function in Malaysia lol

Please be informed as of today, MDA has not received any applications with regards to ECG features and Heart Health Function in the Apple Watch Series 4 & Series 5 from the parties concerned. On the other hand, you may make a suggestion to the said company to proceed for a Product Classification application to get official feedback from MDA. Only products that are classified as medical devices need to proceed to register with MDA.

MDA’s determination of whether to classify this product as a medical device or not a medical device is based on the information on product description/intended use of product submitted for Product Classification Application to MDA and the application of the following statutory definition for ”medical device” as set forth in Section 2 of the Medical Device Act 2012 (Act 737).
Reading the reply it seems that MOH approval not required if Apple do not intend the product to be a medical device
