QUOTE(attw @ Sep 11 2019, 07:02 AM) MY Pricing Yeah I think pricing actually increases a little bit rite if not wrong. 32GB WiFi - RM1449 128GB WiFi - RM1849 32GB WiFi and Cellular - RM1999 128GB WiFi and Cellular - RM2399 Notice a few difference of this iPad with the 6th gen one. 1) no mention of second gen Touch ID like other iPad on the spec page -> could it be 1st gen? 2) it is heavier than 6th gen iPad This post has been edited by westlife: Sep 11 2019, 07:32 AM |

How can you even compare with iPad Pro. but doesn't have the 120hz ProMotion tech right? Using only apple pencil 1st gen? It is just an iPad for anyone to buy an iPad without thinking since it is at the cheapest price. No pro features. Apple Pencil 1st gen all the while it supports. Just this round Apple added smart connector to it to support Smart Keyboard. And it also has a slightly bigger display at 10.2-inch instead of 9.7-inch. |

So just so I’m clear, the key attraction is the entry point (price) and not that there are any new features not previously present in the Air 3 right?

smart keyboard expensive. my old airpad 1 just use a Belkin keyboard for the last 3 years, very cheap and gooding.
a slightly larger screen is welcome. but the sleeper ipad is the 2017 ipad pro 10.5, if you can still find it. |

QUOTE(attw @ Sep 11 2019, 10:42 PM) It still has better screen than the ipad 10.2-inch what. Fully laminated and better processor. Just that for other things all can be done on this ipad 10.2-inch if u dun really care about the display. A10 chip is indeed old but still very capable. Likely that Apple will follow this trend to give u ok processor at that year but not the latest due to its price. |

Still no USB C for iPad. Don't understand why they can't just standardize across all.

QUOTE(andrewtho @ Sep 12 2019, 10:32 AM) I understand this - for now. It’s pretty convenient for current users to still have the lightning port (who already have lightning based iPhones and other accessories - including chargers, the old Apple Pencil, lightning EarPods, etc). Moving to USB C would add moving parts (which ones are reliable enough? Which one will work/not work?) which, honestly, I’m not ready to recommend to these people. E.g. my mum, family members, some of my colleagues. Anecdotal evidence, but at least for the lower end iPads (and not iPad Pro) I think it still makes more sense to use lightning. Maybe in a couple more years when the USB C accessories market has stabilised enough (less of the cheap broken stuff) for Apple to use USB C on their iPhones, everything will be USB C. |

There's plenty of USB C accessories in the market right now, imagine if you have a new-gen Mac that uses USB C, you literally can charge using the same cable, use USB C adapter and access USB C SSD Drives etc. Even for earphones, AirPods is the way to go. iPhones? Wireless chargers. I don't know man, I just feel that the least they can do is to standardize the use of USB C across board, not just limit it to the Pro models since the Macs are already adopting this. For this sole purpose, I'd rather stick to the Pro model. The idea of sticking the Apple Pencil to the Lightning Port is just no for me. It's a design disaster from the start |

QUOTE(christcwl9 @ Sep 15 2019, 11:40 AM) Why bro ?? I am actually considering iPad Air 2019, but surprised to see that Apple refreshed their iPad 9.7" silently too Oh, because of my usage of the iPad, bro. My usage is pretty much limited to media consumption, e-reader, some light emails and web browsing. I had the 2018 iPad and it was good enough but then I was so fascinated by the 2018 Pro that I upgraded. After that, I had buyer’s remorse and felt it was a little overkill and when the Air 3, launched, I downgraded again This iPad though is cheaper, but comes with A10 (same as my current iP7+), compared to Air (2019) at A12. I wonder if the extra money is worth investing in Besides the processor, one of the Air 3’s selling point was the smart connector so you have the option of adding the Smart Keyboard, which previously couldn’t be done with the entry level iPad and the Pro one could be too expensive. But now you can do that with the entry level iPad so if you really don’t need all the processing power, the iPad 2019 might do? This post has been edited by attw: Sep 15 2019, 12:28 PM |

QUOTE(westlife @ Sep 15 2019, 12:36 PM) for anyone who wants a basic ipad, i think the ipad 2019 still does the job despite it is using A10 chip. but the price justifies for the purchase. one can upgrade more often due to its lower price comparing to buy higher end iPads. How about the battery life?? Is it anywhere close to what the iPad Air 2019 can offer?? |

QUOTE(christcwl9 @ Sep 15 2019, 12:55 PM) Do you think Apple will upgrade their iPad pro this year sometime soon?? Say Oct 2019 ?? I m still thinking to buy now or wait till what they offer for the ipad pro I think it’ll just be a minor refresh if it happens in October. March 2020 could be more likely. Actually one of my main gripe with the Pro is how thin and fragile it was - I keep having the phobia that I would accidentally bend or break it accidentally! I’m waiting to see if the next gen Pro would improve on that too.How about the battery life?? Is it anywhere close to what the iPad Air 2019 can offer?? Having had all three iPads - the 2018, Pro and Air 3, I’d say the best is the Air 3. The Pro has a 120hz refresh rate so it consumes a fair bit of battery. Ive been reading in the internet where they claimed iPad Pro (12 or 11'') both bend easily with minimum force Having had all three iPads - the 2018, Pro and Air 3, I’d say the best is the Air 3. The Pro has a 120hz refresh rate so it consumes a fair bit of battery. Im also kinda worried of it, but the design is definitely way way better than the dated design of iPad Air 3 (2019). However, the built quality of Air 3 is superb as what i have read so far |

May I know when will this iPad available in our shore? I wanna get one for my parents, they have no expectations as they will be using it to surf FB and watch YouTube videos mainly, so this iPad suits their needs and my pocket too. I'm still using my iPad Mini 2, gonna be 6 years old soon but it's so good that I have no intention to change it to newer model yet. Perfect for my travels. I must say iPads are really worthy for the money spent. mycolumn liked this post

the new 10.2-inch iPad looks not bad. screen looks good despite as usual non-laminated but bigger display with slight thinner bezel than before makes it look more worthy and nicer. As compare to iPad mini, the bezel is not extremely thick like before.
Really good iPad for everyone especially for elderly or kids who do not need professional function like iPad Air or pro. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by westlife: Sep 28 2019, 10:44 PM |

QUOTE(attw @ Oct 4 2019, 09:34 AM) Yeah. Available now.The new ipad 10-2 inch looks nicer than 9.7-inch before. really good for anyone who needs a basic iPad. too bad they did not upgrade the processor this year though. but look wise 10.2-inch makes it look more ‘premium’ a bit than before despite bezel has no change in size since then increase the overall form factor due to the bigger display. but the bezel does look more comfortable since the screen is bigger. |

QUOTE(un_id @ Oct 6 2019, 10:56 AM) The iPad Mini 5's specs matches that of the iPad Air 3 - so I think it's not really a fair comparison to the entry level 10.2. That said though, for RM250 more from the base 10.2 you do get a Mini 5 with double the storage, so it's an interesting choice for buyers |

QUOTE(attw @ Oct 7 2019, 12:08 PM) With iPadOS you can transfer via USB flash drives, but bear in mind flash drives with lightning connectors are expensive. Another alternative would be to get an adapter. besides, there is no requirement of the filesystem rite? in terms of NTFS etc. no matter what filesystem in the flashdrive, it should be readable and writable by iPadOS rite? |

I'm waiting for the iPad anxiously, it has arrived in Malaysia last night (from Singapore) but being held back for clearance, DHL has to provide documentation to clear it. ETA is Friday but hoping it can arrive tomorrow and not delayed until after Friday as I will need to bring back to my parents that evening. *Prays hard* |

Hi guys, joining the bandwagon of the new iPad
Just got mine yesterday, straight from the factory in Chengdu Didn't bought it though, it was a surprise present from my wife due to my old iPad 2 has given up on me Was eyeing the 2018 iPad since it is smaller & cheaper but heyy how could i say no to free stuff right haha I am not really an early adopter to anything because it will be kinda hard to find accessories from 3rd party Any good casing recommendation? This iPad is compatible with iPad Air 10.5inch casing? |

For normal usage should suffice, both my parents are happy with it now. My sister was complaining that the Facebook app auto logs out my mum's account and she has been helping her to key in FB password every now and then. Not sure if it's the app, iOS or iPad issue. I don't think it's human error as my mum doesn't know how to logout.. I asked her to uninstall and reinstall the app, hope it will fix the issue. Also another issue which I ebcounter, though I have activated fingerprint verification for apps download but it will still prompt to insert password. It's really annoying. What's the issue? |

After a few days using one, I can share a little about my experience compared to my older iPad Air 2.
I miss the anti-reflective coating from iPad Air 2 and the laminated display. The viewing experience is just better than iPad 10.2 inch. Though I'm used to the 10.2 inch display now but I still miss the old display. iPad 10.2 is slightly bigger and noticeably thicker than my iPad Air 2, and feels heavier as well. On the bright side, it supports Apple Pencil and I enjoy using it a lot. I pair it with a logitech K480 bluetooth keyboard and the experience is great. No delay and the key inputs are quick and responsive. I can't tell the difference between the speakers of iPad Air 2 and iPad 10.2, both are pretty equal. Oh one thing, somehow I can feel the texture of the aluminum casing is different. iPad Air 2 feels better and iPad 10.2 aluminum feels like those cheapo xiaomi budget phone type of aluminum. I'm not talking about the thickness or the strength of the metal but just the feel of touching it. My unit is 32gb + LTE version. I'm using Yoodo sim card, backed by Celcom network. Reception is good, no problem at all. Battery life wise, just like any other iPad, I can get 8-10 hours of usage including 3 days of standby time, so thumbs up to apple. Is this product value for money? Ok lah not bad because with the same amount you spent for android or microsoft tablet, this iPad 10.2 inch is gonna win hands down. The OS experience, the app experience is miles better. I wish they can give me USB C connector though but knowing Apple, they will try to milk their customers for every single thing they can. So don't be surprised that Apple only reserve the USB C port for the higher end models. My 0.2 cent. |

QUOTE(kapalterbang_737 @ Nov 3 2019, 01:03 PM) Anyone using the Smart Keyboard? How is the experience with iPad 7th gen? Using one right now. It's worth the price. Comfortable too. The keyboard buttons will become softer as you use. Thinking of getting one as I am always on the move and not really looking to lug around extra keyboard Only con is the cover does not cover the bakc side of ipad. Anyway, anyone got alternatives for ipad case that acts as an organizer as well? |

For those long time users of ipad, is it normal for the back of the ipad to feel slightly magnetic and vibration when you rub across the surface while it is charging?
This is my first ipad unit in my life so I dunno if this is norm or not haha |

hey guys, i’ve been keeping an eye for a good deal for a tablet, but still torn apart from an ipad mini or just the regular ipad. main purpose are mostly web browsing, reading and some photo edit occasionally. mostly games will be played with my xr.
since i’m kind of in a tight budget, not more than rm1.5k, the choices came into : ipad 6th gen ipad 7th gen ipad mini 5 imo if the software is still being supported in another 2 years, i’d say it’s a worthy investment. hopefully anyone here can have your insight and opinion on which should i take. or, is it worth it to wait for apple’s announcement later this year on the new line up? thanks in advance 🙂 |

QUOTE(maxtor1 @ Feb 9 2020, 09:12 AM) still considering which to get.. If you have the budget, go for iPad Pro then. Definitely enough power for gaming & other productivity tasks. I’ve tested playing simple games with iPad Pro 11” before and it is very comfortable and colors are vibrant too. Comparing that with my iPad 7th Gen, i accidentally kept pressing the Home button while holding the iPad, which is quite annoying. Never happen to iPad Pro 11” due to no Home button. ipad 10.2 or ipad Air or ipad Pro or wait for March ipad pro 2020... my usage is... it has been a month since i purchase the ipad. it's very good and pleasant experience using it until now, gotta love the full browser mode and gets the job done over a laptop.
the only problem is, its very hard to find screen protectors and even casings everywhere around town for it |

Yeah. Indeed. Choices and availability of screen protectors and cases are very limited because iPad is a niche product after all not to mention about the highest pricing iPad Pro.the only problem is, its very hard to find screen protectors and even casings everywhere around town for it I will get the new iPad Pro this year if it is out. Will likely to use it at home mostly. |

Hi. Newbie here so I'm also figuring out how to use the replies. I'm thinking of buying a ipad for my gf for her birthday. She draws and has a dslr so i was thinking of buying an ipad for her to edit photo and draw with apple pencil. Right now I saw the ipad 10.2 128gb is selling at rm1699 and the iPad air is selling rm2088 for 64gb. I was wondering which one to get since my budget around there. I like the better chip from air but I'm afraid 64gb is too little

I like the better chip from air but I'm afraid 64gb is too little A few questions:1) Will she be editing raws? What kind of editing. If it's for professional edits, then I don't think the 10.2 would cut it. Might want to consider the air, or better yet, the Pro. If she's gonna be editing raw, 64 GB isn't gonna cut it. Also, I think most people prefer to edit drawings on a proper right. Not a photographer though so take this with a pinch of salt. 2) What kind of drawing? Is she a budding artist, or a full blown one? There is a gap between the screen and the glass which can bother someone who is used to drawing on paper. If you look out for promos, you could get the older generation Pro (10.5 or 12.9). I myself have the 10.5 pro. It's awesome for doing sketches and I'm glad I didn't settle with the 10.2 or mini (The mini is too small to sketch on comfortably. The 12.9 is too large IMHO, especially if portability is of primary concern). If she is just a budding artist, the 10.2 might be a good idea. At least if she doesn't like it, you didn't burn too much cash. Some people don't like drawing digitally, it doesn't feel the same. This can be remedied with a matte screen protector - paperlike is an often mentioned brand. It works better since there's more friction between the pencil and the screen, emulating drawing on paper. I myself use Elecom - harder to procure but a review from someone who had both, preferred Elecom to Paperlike. Note that the increased friction would result in the nib wearing it faster. Happened to me. If you aren't comfortable speaking of it openly, shoot me a PM. Would be more than willing to answer any questions you might have with regards to sketching on the iPad. Of course, better to ask here since you would reach a wider audience. |

It's generally frowned upon (or downright rule-breaking) for what you just did. Especially since this Sub enables post count. To answer your question: If she's used to using a Wacom tablet, she should appreciate drawing directly onto the media more. My niece tried my iPad and says it's a much better experience than using her Wacom. Maybe bring her to an Apple store and asks what she thinks? (After the restriction have been lifted of course!). I'm not talking about the current gen pro. Try to look for the 2nd Gen Pro. Some can be had for around your budget, brand new. People winning lucky draws and what not. Or sometimes outlets just clearing out stock. As I said, I'm no photographer so I don't know too much when it comes to photo editing. The larger space would help if she's editing RAWS - from what I understand, they take up quite a bit of space. You're gonna have to wait for someone else to chime in with regards to the processing power since that's something out of my league. Can't help you there on the Samsung I'm afraid. Have zero experience using them. I started using AutoDesk SketchBook and have used it since. Good enough for simple sketches. A lot of users swear by Procreate - it isn't free though. Tons more functionality but if you haven't reached that level, no point to purchase it. Not too expensive either for what it gives. Is she already in the Apple eco-system? If she is, I would strongly recommend the iPad |

Maybe I tinker with it abit later la. She tried drawing with ipad before and she was planning on buying the basic ipad so I though I just buy for her la. She doesn't use apple products. I found a ipad pro 10.5 just now for rm2999 256gb. Is it worth the buy? Or just stick to air or 10.2. Air their 256gb are out of stock so only option is the 64gb.To answer your question: If she's used to using a Wacom tablet, she should appreciate drawing directly onto the media more.

Is it worth the buy? Or just stick to air or 10.2. Air their 256gb are out of stock so only option is the 64gb. No worries. We were all newbies at one point 3K? It's ok, but could be cheaper for the 10.5. The lowest it's ever been was about 2k for the 256GB. That was last year though. Bear in mind you gotta top up another RM400-ish for the pencil. Another RM 50ish for a matte paper-like screen protector. If she's already ok with the basic iPad, the 10.2 would suffice. Here's a comparison between the the three iPad models. What makes the Pro and Air worth it for me would be: 1) Laminated display (No gap between screen and glass. 2) True Tone 3) ProMotion 4) Four speakers The 10.5 pro is pretty similar to the Air. Air being superior in the chipset, but inferior in the speaker and display. My personal take on it? If you can get the Pro around the price of the Air, go for it. Since the I believe the display and speaker upgrade would be worth it. Having said that, the basic 10.2. would suffice for most usage cases. Most of the time the speakers won't really be used, the ProMotion and gap between the screen isn't that noticeable to most people. Probably only the TrueTone would be beneficial for photo editing. Side note. The 9.7 Pro, if available, would be cheaper. Of course, it will have its own drawbacks. You can view it for yourself here |

QUOTE(attw @ May 13 2020, 02:14 PM) Yeah, was eyeing the 32GB one since a lot of this virtual meetings and classes won't need too much storage, but not much deals (or stocks) on those yesterday if it is for old parents, i think it is fine. The model I bought for my parent is 32gb. Not too bad. Enough storage. If it is for education etc., better go with 128gb instead. |

Back to this iPad, also recommended a colleague who is using Android tablet all this while to get this iPad for her regular shows, she loves how fluid iPad is. Though I'm an Android user, no other Android tablet can compete with iPad when it comes to performance and apps optimisation. |

Seems like most of us buying this iPad 10.2 for elderly and kids. I'm satisfied with this model for it's screen size as mom using it most for YT and reading. Nothing fancy. Glad she loves it. |

Wifi + cellular model allows you actually the same Internet acivities like wifi model using sim card to allow the convenience on the go. Wifi + cellular model also comes with built-in GPS unlike Wifi only model. The 10.2-inch iPad is ideal for elderly and kids. There is a rumour that the 10.2-inch iPad may get upgraded to 10.8-inch and with A12 chip (same chip as the current iPad mini and iPhone XR/XS/XS Max. Though it is a old chip but it will be quite significant upgrade from the current A10. However, being a rumour, no one will know whether it will really happen, so if you need it urgently now, then it may not be relevant. |

QUOTE(IMfae_ @ May 18 2020, 10:38 AM) i see, cause I was comparing the setting for my number in iPad with my 11 pro, not possible to save the number as well. and receiving iMessage setting also only with Apple ID (email address). Thanks for the clarification. With that being said, I'm using maxis sim card for tablet plan, can I use another ordinary sim card with data from another telco provider? will it get locked or can't be used on that ipad? kindly advise, thanks. Yes, you can. I don't think there is telco-locked anymore these days for devices (except routers from some providers). |

And maxis tablet plan is only up to 5gb. lol with YT all the time sure gonna hit the wall soon. Luckily I have 2 postpaid plans with 1 of them 100gb, so yeah am thinking to put that sim on her iPad.Despite we have Astro at home, sometimes she wants to watch other channels. Hi guys,
Need some advice as am planning to buy my mom an iPad for her birthday. She is only going to use it to Facetime,Youtube, occasional Netflix & maybe some music/social media apps. Currently considering these 2 options: iPad 9.7 Inch 6th Gen 128GB - Rm1399. Current iPad 10.2 Inch 7th Gen 128GB-Rm1849. I compared both the iPads and everything is exactly identical except the display size & the smart keyboard compatibility for the current 7th Gen. Would the 6th Gen suffice for her needs? Am thinking to just get the 6th Gen as the saving of Rm449 which can be used to get her Apple Airpods instead since the iPads don't come with Earphones. |

One of my app always randomly crash when open. (auto close when I open the app) Restart the iPad will solve the problem. Anyone have idea what could be the problem?

It doesn’t offer the best typing experience like the one on Logitech Slim Combo, but since I travel a lot so I need the slimness of the keyboard which in turn reduces weight that I carry. Hello, does anyone know if iPad 10.2 support fast charging? I read review on tech site says that when they use 30w PD charger, the iPad charging time is faster but it didnt say how much faster compared to 10w charger.
if it can utilize 18w or 30w charging then im planning to get one. thanks! |

Is it still worth to get this iPad now? Will there be any new iPad launch later this year?
Thinking will this be enough to replace my laptop . It’s just simple task like documents, surfing.. WhatsApp web, telegram .. I heard now there’s 3rd party pencil that works like actual Apple Pencil and it cause less than rm100. Is it good enough for normal scribble? Any other advantage if I’m also iPhone user?? iPad sales are so good that all the authorized dealer store are out of stock. Not any iPad left. Found it in senQ but also needs to wait a day to transport from warehouse. Sold out like hot cakes once reach the branch. Students getting it for online classes?

Just wanted to share the sleeve that I am using for my iPad 7th Gen with you guys
I am currently using Crumpler The Assistant Compendium as main storage for my iPad. I have been looking for a suitable sleeve for the iPad where I can also store all cables & other accessories.Came across few models from different brands (Thule, Tumi etc.) but all is not really to my liking I like the slim profile of the sleeve & also the fact that I can lay it flat makes it much easier to reach for things. Loving the material & color too. This sleeve can fit iPad 7th Gen, iPad Air 3 & also iPad Pro 10.5 since all of them shares identical dimensions. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This post has been edited by kapalterbang_737: Jul 9 2020, 12:35 PM |
