Still no USB C for iPad. Don't understand why they can't just standardize across all.

QUOTE(HeHeHunter @ Sep 12 2019, 11:03 AM) I think iPads can last at least 2-3 years if taken care properly Don't really have to change annually if you dont chase newness lol. QUOTE(drunkn7 @ Sep 12 2019, 11:08 AM) I understand this - for now. To be honest, USB C is now a standard 'norm'. It’s pretty convenient for current users to still have the lightning port (who already have lightning based iPhones and other accessories - including chargers, the old Apple Pencil, lightning EarPods, etc). Moving to USB C would add moving parts (which ones are reliable enough? Which one will work/not work?) which, honestly, I’m not ready to recommend to these people. E.g. my mum, family members, some of my colleagues. Anecdotal evidence, but at least for the lower end iPads (and not iPad Pro) I think it still makes more sense to use lightning. Maybe in a couple more years when the USB C accessories market has stabilised enough (less of the cheap broken stuff) for Apple to use USB C on their iPhones, everything will be USB C. There's plenty of USB C accessories in the market right now, imagine if you have a new-gen Mac that uses USB C, you literally can charge using the same cable, use USB C adapter and access USB C SSD Drives etc. Even for earphones, AirPods is the way to go. iPhones? Wireless chargers. I don't know man, I just feel that the least they can do is to standardize the use of USB C across board, not just limit it to the Pro models since the Macs are already adopting this. For this sole purpose, I'd rather stick to the Pro model. The idea of sticking the Apple Pencil to the Lightning Port is just no for me. It's a design disaster from the start |
