but its still so soft >< windows is at 60% according to creative surround mixer, one bar above the middle on windows volume control. main speaker know about 75%. this speaker still quite soft due to its low-sensitivity input...

will changing capacitor and opamp make a difference? what is it that cause the woofer to crunch wor? cos i wana mod this speaker for louder and cleaner sound, preserving the same tone...but i need to know where to start  rclxub.gif

you can always try to listen to other M3400 see whether they're worse or not.
if your M3400 is worse than the other, in the stores, for example, then try claiming warranty.

60 and 75% is not so high. i guess maybe some defect. any bass boost or SRS TruBass you turned on?

QUOTE(zeustronic @ Mar 30 2009, 12:23 AM)
lol... treble or bass can easily tweak using EQ.

i wish i could do that to my M3300. no matter what i do, TruBass, Bass-boost in x-fi and whatever, still cannot shake my room.
end up getting other speaker. but to superior edifier, say like S530D, little volume already can "shake" due to lower & better bass response.

because if i compare it with a E3100 still E3100 wins, (in terms of sub only!) but to make it clearer, put S530D on low volume...

u kno wat i mean, each time i audition speaker, i walk away from the speaker 1-2metres, see whether it shakes me anot. E3100 sub capable of doing that.

tongue.gif tongue.gif That's why most m3300's user also admit that m3300's bass is damn weak, but i still love it wub.gif

m3400 is not meant to blast songs anyways.. Guess its time to upgrade.. Haha..

Bout the controller gets dimmer when there's heavy bass, i also experienced it with my previous S2.1M..
*
icic...if upgrade what speaker u reccomend? something that is clear and can on loud. the problem with m3400 is loudness only...as i already modded my audigy soundcard with opamp and power capacitors, so clarity and dynamics is ok...

i tried C3, amazing clarity, but the bass not low and thick enuff... s2.1 can on loud ah? i test it at shop before, clarity nice, but i think the shop ppl put the woofer to max...making the bass overpower music, i didnt had a chance to blast it tho... actually i prefer the bass to be just enough to "support" the music, i'm not basshead. haha. but i need the loudness due to my room's acoustic....alot soft furniture....

i agree... seriously, M3310 should use E3100 subwoofer. if it does, then M3310 will be my pick.
the thing is, M3310 use same sat as M3300. but the subwoofer is worse than both M3300 and E3100.
it uses bandpass, like E3100 but the circuit dont know why, makes the sub sounds worse than the E3100.

Yea, Edifier S730D is really gd, I'm so glad that i bought it, it has caused me bunch of troubles though. How gd is it? at Volume 22, SW 6, bass+2, I can feel the floor shaking a little bit even though i ady shut the door and in the kitchen which is few metres away, I hv tried watching movies with with volume 25, bass+4, SW 8, ends up my housemate comes banging on my door asked me to reduce the bass because they can feel it in their room xD Tried Vol30 above with bass+6 and SW+10 at the risk of police pays a visit to ur house or ur neighbours next door swearing at you laugh.gif It's definitely a gd speaker. wink.gif

i know that laugh.gif i got audition it once.
although hardwarezone.com.sg said S730D isnt impressive in their review, i think they forgot to boost their soundcard.

the S730D is capable of delivering thundering bass without any distortion.
u know, i usually set my speaker to 100% and set volume using keyboard at windows volume. but IF i use the S730D, i think cant do that, because 10% will blast the house already. laugh.gif

u gonna listen it to believe biggrin.gif most shop put the S730's satelites close together with the woofer , very compact setup , it still perform great with this kind of placement, u can imagine if u bring it back and put nicely , the sound will far better than wat u hear in shop biggrin.gif The satelites of S730 is ''sweeter'' than S530D 's and the bass is clean and accurate despite it's huge size. thumbup.gif

I've nvr heard of audioengine but I did know little bit bout Aego M. If you like classical/jazz those type of soft musics, Aego m will be the first that you should consider, For movies like those type of action and war, Altec Lansing MX5021 would fit in, but for musics, the clarity is not gd enuf, the bass has covered everything so basically all you hear is boom boom boom, I don't really like it because I can't enjoy the musics at all, hearing it for long time also causing irritation/headache. As for Klipsch GMX 2.1. I heard that the latest version is not as gd as the previous version, cutting cost problem. Anyway, I would also want to introduce another brand of speaker which i found to be pretty gd, which is Edifier S530(D). this speaker is balance for everything, regardless of moveis/musics/gaming. You might want to look for this speaker as well as it's within ur budget. Hope it helps. Happy researching. If your budget is around 1k. You may consider Edifier S730, more info on Edifier S730 see above xD

Price for the above speakers:

AegoM:Rm620
Edifier S530D:~RM700
Altec Lansing MX5021:~Rm550
Klipsch GMX 2.1:~Rm450++
Edifier S730D:Rm999.

watts are not everything...
more watts doesnt mean your air-con is cooler right?

same here, more watts doesnt mean sounds better.
the thing is, u should audition them yourself. for me, i go for S730D anytime over the Z2300. anyway i cant find a Z2500.

anyway u wanna check the power of S730D woofer, u can go youtube, type edifier S550D (only got 1 now) and listen. listen to how loud it is until it distort the recording and it is much louder than most of youtube clips.
