Recomend u try Edifier S330 for 2.1 and R501 MK2 for 5.1 .

how about edifier c3 vs logitech z4 ?which better?

Z4 more solid and tight in bass,but lack of ''sweet'' in music listen.The sound seems in a straight line.Not dynamic enough.

Hey all, im planning to get a USB sound card and also a 5.1 speaker for my laptop. Any recommend? my budget around RM600-700 for both. Whats in my mind now is, sound card is Creative sound blaster X-fi Surround 5.1 and speaker is Edifier R501 MK2, is both of this ok?

do u really need surround effect 5.1 ? cuz at that budget will give u a great 2.1 speaker that definitely shine better than 5.1 in term of quality but no surround.
so ask urself do u willing to sacrifice quality over surround
anyway i think that creative usb is gud for external solution soundcard for u.

Erm, as for me, i gaming and also movie quite alot, music is just only played when im doing my assignment,homework or playing some online game so other most of the time will be gaming and movie, so do you think i should get a surround or quality? Myself also not sure >.<

Halo, I have been read this thread until last month, but I din read this thread after that...
Because of my budget’s concern (400 or 600), most ppl recommend Edifier C3/S530 to me (last time I use SB Audigy+Altec Lansing ACS45.1 since 2002)... firstly i plan to get Altec Lansing again(MX5051) in sri comp, but he staff recommend C3 to me coz he said AL is not a good choice compared to last time..

I think in tis thread, most ppl give decent comments on Edifier, but not so on AL.. So I choose edifier n test the speaker.. Maybe im too trust the comments given on lowyat.net(before december 2008 post) so I din manage to test the speaker in details.. at last I bought C3 with sb x-fi xtreme audio..

At 1st I test with my old speaker with de new soundcard n settings, it did give me good satisfaction (but I think because of the old speaker, it din produce the best sound).. but when I test with C3 with some settings, it din produce de “music” taste I wan when I listening to anime/Jpop music(most time I listening to Jpop) n de bass is slightly different from what I want(I have to admit im a perfectionist n im very vErY concern with the music’s details very much.. ).. It did produce good sound when I try with hard rock/disco/classical song..

I think maybe the problem is the subwoofer din give a “long throw” effect compare with my ACS45.1 n seems the satellites is build to mainly on sound clarity but not on bass(I have to admit Edifier c3 sound clarity is quite good with tis x-fi xtreme).. got a ppl mention that all edifier subwoofer is not strong in this thread, n I wonder will the problem happen again when I bought another Edifier(S530) or I should buy the Altec Lansing’s speaker that I admire for yearsss?@@ but desperate with the comments bout altec lansing, it is hard for me to make choice now. Last week, I jus bought the C3. Maybe I should burn-in the speaker for few days to make final judgment? Hmm

first,u should get S330 at first,not C3 my personal opinion is S330 is much better than C3 in bass and high pitch.About the problem u worry about S530D,i can tell u can buy it without worry,becoz S530D's bass is totaly not same with all Edifier speaker below it.Starting from S530D to the highest end S730,the bass characteristic is more AV oriented, these speaker tends to produce sounds that are very ''western style'' bass with very deep low frequency sounds for games or DVD playback .

sound is subjective.. so to find a perfect speaker for u is by listen to it n compare urself.. sometimes the staff advise will not suit our preference also. why u not compare first urself c3 and mx510 when u are at sri comp last time?

maybe u can also audition s530 and c3 and mx510 head too head again if they available at one shop..

lol at last i end up testing at "all it hypermart", coz there is much more easier to test.. dat time they r playing rock music, n i try to test all speaker 1 by 1.. when i test a speaker, i lower most of de edifier's volume, but too bad la got other customer testing other speaker, so i din manage to test so well..

why i choose C3 dat time?
-maybe becoz it is easy for me to change its bass or triple n de sound on there is reli good, i got test S330 de bass sound reli hard.. it is more dumph dumph(but i din like dat kind of bass, it destroy overall song feeling esp for anime song/orchestra song, but tis is my taste la)... but i prefer booommm booom.. so i choose C3 coz it is not sounded like dat.. maybe becoz de place is very broad, so i din listen much dumph2 bass style from C3.. actuli i dun like dumph dumph dat kind of bass.. when i was testing mx5051, got ppl testing s530/s730.. so de result is those edifier "eat" mx5051 sound.. so i din manage to test mx5051 well.. after i reach house n test C3, i onli notice C3 also got dumph dumph dat kind of bass style.. or maybe all edifier subwoofer sounded like dat????
-de other reason should be dat C3 got EIDC(electronic intelligence distortion control) component in their amplifier, n they r not make jus for "look nice".. for me i can notice sound distortion even slightly coz those distortion make me feel not so good/strange feeling(i listen song depend on feeling lolx), n maybe i often go to orchestra concert so i can feel the sound distortion or w/o distortion, n C3 solve de sound distortion well when i playing de song in my "distortion music"list..

btw xk2 im quite hapi with u coz u found ur favorite speaker, but u sounded like u r happily promoting ur speaker lor, maybe becoz tis is love u have for ur speaker lolx.. but i still believe different ppl. different taste, different life style..

responsing to your statement,

i agree with the bold part. if i were to choose, i also choose C3, may be because im towards the basshead type.
most edifier subwoofer is like that. they are slightly high in frequency. thus disabling them from making booooooom sound like others. S530, S550, S730 is exception. three of them is a boom! C3 is much better than S330 in terms of subwoofer only because of that factor too.

however, there are solutions to "lower" down the subwoofer issue on all computer subwoofer, such as edifiers'.

i personally use Creative X-Fi 5.1 USB and ffdshow (on WMP11) to enhance the bass. previously the bass is a bit high, now it is much lower until u can feel it in your body. of course, the better the speaker the better the effects.

hope this may somehow become useful in the public.

i check the vs4121, there is only red light, no blue light at all and ask the shop assistant has he seem a blue light led vs4121, he said never saw 1,

dude, ignore those blue better than red thingy, VS4121 is suck on its nature due to the design, blue, green or red are all the same, same suck...

May i know why you search for VS4121 and ATP3? there are a lot of speaker better than these two in the same price range..

i think the blue led one is older version... all has been replaced by red led

If few years ago ,VS4121 can be say as good at that price.But Blue LED VS4121 oso wont produce good sound,as coolkwc said,it is suck on its natural we say it suck is becoz nowadays many speaker are better than it.Example of these speaker oredi mentioned thousands time in previous post.

Hiya I'm planning on getting a 5.1 speaker set to plug into a BenQ E2400 HD monitor... sound coming mainly from PS3 HDMI. I already have a set of Audio Technica headphones but I want a good set of speakers for when friends come over or when my head gets tired of wearing headphones, etc.

Budget around RM500. What would you guys recommend? Also, would a 2.1 setup sound a lot better at that price? I've never had a 5.1 setup before so I dunno if my PS3 experience would greatly improve because of surround.
