no offence, but u certainly are the 1st one i have seen in lyn using "damn clear" to describe VS4121
no doubts, i have tested too many times on VS4121, fren's unit and lowyat plaza also. my fren's unit is the 1st batch oh, heard that altec speaker always the best at 1st batch, the later batch will start cut cost on material. i have the same feeling with walabies, don't you feel the way of VS4121 sound like taking a cloth cover the speaker? have u notice the mid-range driver are facing the table? such a design how to sound clear? u can try let the speaker satelite lie down let the mid range facing u then u will find it actually sounds better than normal... lolz this is solely the satelite problem, the subwoofer part if u compare it with atp3 u will find that atp3 have more accurate bass, VS4121 bass is somehow overwhelming the mid and high frequency sound hence it sounds blur in general, unless u turn the bass off then it may clearer but how can we stick with speaker that no bass?

my recommended:
RM150-250: Altec Lansing ATP3....Eacan A200...
RM250-350: Eacan A-600II--look very similar to Altec Lansing MX5021,especially the subwoofer unit...50W??sound good...
RM500-600: Altec Lansing MX5021, 90W(of course, i am using currently)...low hum bass at 40hz-60hz, satellite need some equalizer tuning(don't worry, the midrange and high is still under user control)...
not recommended:
logitech Z2300...same price as MX5021, 2X powerful than MX5021, but no midrange sound at all....
altec lansing VS4121...totally unbalance sound....
Sonic gear blue thunder 3....BT2 better than BT3...
all units above are all in 2.1 configuration, if ur currently used speaker is in the "not recommended" list, please don't feel angry, because is only my tested opinion, if u feel good, thats all right, please don't shoot me.....
Added on August 14, 2007, 2:31 amHere i share my limited experience with reader seems like many user are look so serious about the bass response when choosing speaker....buyer always trusted the Spec listed by the speaker manufacturer, especially the bass response, many speaker in the price range from RM200-RM400 claim that the bass response as low as 30 or 35hz...but actually not...go to download sony sound forge 8 or 9 (if no money, just cxxxk it only) from www.sonymediasoftware.com and generate the sine wave from 30-100hz to test ur speaker, u will exactly know ur speaker bass response...here i give rough idea who had listen to those speaker before... Altec VS4121 and ATP3 strong bass response from 60hz-100hz, below 55hz silent dramatically...Altec MX5021 bass response strong at 40-65hz, 30hz-40hz still can hear it, exactly the spec claimed...others test urself if interested...u also can save those sine wave as MP3 or other format and put inside ur MP3 player (good quality MP3 player is needed, bcos ayam brand player almost cut off frequency lower than 60hz), so u can test the speaker bass response at the PC shop before u buy...recommended test frequency are 30Hz,35Hz,40Hz,45Hz,50Hz,60Hz,70Hz,80Hz until 100Hz...so if u find that this opinion is totally useless after u read it, just ignore it, and please don't shoot me...
