I'm hoping bros here can recommend me a 2.1 speaker? This will be almost 100% for metal/rock music and using as an amp for guitaring. I'll be plugging this from lappy.
I have a smallish-medium sized room, with paper thin walls (can hear ppl fart from the living room). And I listen to heavy metal (Metallica, Bullet for my valentine, trivium, inflames type). I'm looking for smooth/controlled bass, preferably not floorshaking type.
I'm currently considering Audioengine A2 (very good weight), Aego M (I have heard they're not suitable for complicated songs like metal?) , Edifier M3300, Edifier C3, Edifier S330D.

Evo3 sucks big time. the small 4 inch woofer and incompetent bandpass woofer construction sounds terrible. Try listening M2300 or E3100 first. would not disappoint...

Hello all, was wondering If you guys could recommend me a good 5.1 speaker around RM500? I'm more of a gaming/music kaki guy. Any help is much appreciated. I was thinking of getting the Logitech X-540 or one of those Creative 5.1 speakers but don't know if they're bang for the buck

hello experts,
my name is siva.
i have a budget of say rm500 tgo rm600. i'm looking for a 2.1 but i wouldn't mind a 5.1.
i am an old guy and not into gaming at all.
all i want to do is listen to music on my pc.
i like to listen to my music loud but that is secondary to the fidelity of the sound meaning can i get the full sound range.
my mis manager says he swears by edifier. cnet says buy logitech z-2300. some other people say altec's mx-5021 or fx-6021
i have no clue. all i want is a high fidelity speaker system on which can play loud (very loud) classical music if i want and also play avril's girlfriend loud.
please help. budget can be adjusted slightly higher if needed.
thank you.

@ siva I recommend Edifier S530D, AEGO M, or Altec MX5021. FX6021 not bad but its too bright.
@eRock i'd think majority would prefer M3300. just like me. E3300 only design nice. use external power adapter, and so-so sound. Better get M3300 or M3300SF. M3300SF still not yet avail but coming soon they said.
@siowchabour:
well, amplifier is used to drive passive speaker. ur S2.1M already have an amp, but its inside the subwoofer box. if u're not using computer then get a DAC. having double amplifier to drive a speaker can kill it within seconds.

Aiks... So what should i do to make my mp3 player louder? Hook it up to a mixer (big and expensive T.T)? Is there anything that can act like an amplifier for my mp3 player to speakers? btw, whats a DAC? This post has been edited by siowcharbor: Aug 14 2008, 07:10 PM
