Sad to say that it is not going to work with other sim card. Just tried on mine. Contract ended last week and I have request to cancel the unifi Air. Put in my Maxis sim and it's not working because the Modem is locked

Kinda defeat the purpose of the contract then since the modem is locked, and you're penalised for early termination.

Consumer protection laws is Malaysia is a joke anyway.

Just got Unifi Bebas. My area is outside of the blue 4G coverage cloud in the Coverage Map on the Unifi Air page. Using 4G CAT 4 Wireless Modem, and I get around 2MB DL/UL per Speedtest to Webe Server in PJ. Otherwise, Youtube buffering 480p is pretty consistent.

Anyone can comment if it would be worth upgrading to Unifi Air? Would I get better speeds doing so?

Nope, I'm still using Unifi Bebas. It's prepaid monthly topup RM35, not subscription basis. This is one of the cheapest internet plans you can get in Msia. Definitely consider if you want to save some extra cash each month.

Order a SIM card, and test put the free 1 GB daily.

Anyone looking for 4G router can contact me. Bought this in Oct 2021 for testing, letting go at reasonable price (RM250). Unit is still under warranty (3 years since my purchase date). Location Ulu Klang, Gombak, Wangsa Maju

Reason selling : to test Unifi Air coverage, unfortunately coverage is bad in my area

Hello, currently Im working in a contract for about 7 months (Now Im still in my 1st month of work). I was wondering is getting unifi air sim card worth it? Im using maxis unlimited prepaid plan but it has FUP which limit the usage of data for me. I usually browse the internet, watch youtube and play online game.

Get unifi bebas prepaid. FREE 1 week unlimited LTE* to test out unifi mobile network.

unlimited LTE - capped 8mbps
free daily 1 gb - full speed
no expire data - no capped speed but a few speed test easily eat 1 gb daily quota

based on air & bebas user feedback - NO
The catch is connect to band 38 / 40 for high speed.
AIR website coverage map long time not update.
some place can roaming to celcom LTE network.
Your Mileage May Vary.

If your location has good Unifi Bebas coverage, you can get their free SIM, and get monthly internet access for RM35 with unlimited LTE data.

Should you want this data from an Access Point, then some say you need a router with a sim card capability. I don't think that works, as I believe it is for a single device only, but I haven't tried for myself. What I did was I had a Nokia 8110 4G phone, which I set as a modem through the USB port. Instead of connecting to a computer, I connected to a router that can accept a modem on the router USB port. In my case I used an old Dlink DIR842 router, flashed with OpenWRT firmware. This firmware is what gives the router this functionality.

The connection was stable, fast enough, and worked well. I used this for 3 months while waiting for Time Telecom to finish their fibre deployment in my apartment building. I had actually ordered Unifi fibre, but decided to cancel when I saw workmen pulling Time fibre around the apartment block. Hence the 3 months of using the Unifi Bebas plan.

So far using bebas sim with b593 is good... Not full bar signal but stable speed... Bebas cap at 8mbps ... That is my last month usage...
