QUOTE(jinggothegreat @ Oct 29 2019, 09:16 AM) btw whats the deal with incheon? Probably extra stuff added to the laptop. Like base models built in china, then goes to Korea for quality testing or add more hardware into the laptop for final output.is it something to be added into the package before resending out? or is it due to last time mechanical failure. weird due to roundtrip path |

Finally done with my warranty upgrade for T495. Am thankful to have this.
![]() Also I notice when doing the warranty upgrade, I had option for "Sealed Battery Replacement", this option wasn't available to me when I originally bought the laptop few weeks/months back. But i notice this option was available when i chose the 3Y Premier Support (RM 799) option today all of a sudden. So maybe its another mix-and-match thing where more options are given to you when you experiment the different customization settings on Lenovo.com ![]() Now asking if can get discount offer for this as well. *crossing fingers* |

That offer wasn't given to me when i made the purchase. it was during citi45 promo. anyways quite beneficial you managed to grab that deal and also with T590 some more. Probably king of T series.I also bought "Sealed battery replacement" warranty for Rm1 during purchase of my T590 last round. |

QUOTE(Benefon @ Oct 29 2019, 09:33 AM) Try to open huge PDF files and scrolling down as fast as u can. I find this hard to believe that it is a Ryzen issue, as even iPad has smooth scrolling and its not even a PC grade processor. It could be more a software issue. Were you using the same software to do the scrolling?AMD will be laggy a bit to compare from Intel. But it’s fine for me Maybe i compare from Ryzen pro 3500U + 16gb ram vs I7-8565U + 40gb Ram only Btw, your Ryzen machine is the X395 right? is it dual channel or single slot RAM, heard that dual channel really makes a difference in performance. Also the fact that its 16GB RAM vs 40GB RAM could also be one reason, not sure if PDF viewers use a lot of memory but anything cache normally requires RAM: CODE "When the document is displayed at 100% it may be too large to be cached. Then it has to be re-rendered as the user is scrolling through it. This may cause the scrolling process to be less than smooth." https://kofaximaging.custhelp.com/app/answe...t-is-not-smooth |

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Oct 29 2019, 03:13 PM) Not king lar bro... just sharing so that buyers can try to get better deals. Depends on the promo and time and also luck, i think the T590 was one of the better deals we have seen, beside the T13s here. Other than that, the premium laptops too like those X1 and P series but how many will opt for those machines cause way above budget or way over powered for most people.Lol. |

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Oct 29 2019, 03:27 PM) TBH, Asus also provides similar deals at similar prices to Lenovo. But I guess many like to see massive 45% discounts from "market up silly" RRPs. For me I am drawn to the thinkpad name. And from there I learn more about Lenovo offerings like Ideapad, Yoga, Thinkbook, Legion. And nowadays where got time to really research many brands at once. I think most people will just keep to one brand for a while before changing like Apple iPhones/iPad, or Sony or Samsung. Just makes things simpler. |

QUOTE(Benefon @ Oct 29 2019, 03:38 PM) Omg I a bit regret, Yesterday added for carry in warranty. This my main PC, so taking extra care of it. Hope they also allow me the sealed battery warranty upgrade discount too.Tonight I wanna asK my SA to upgrade to Premier warranty as well. Then few month later buy extra 16GB RAM, make it total 32GB RAM. Not because I need all that RAM, but because I can. LOL The Power of Thinkpad. |

QUOTE(Theoutspokenguy @ Oct 29 2019, 03:44 PM) Yours is the T13s? you know it can upgrade to 32GB single slot RAM. Buy from US is Rm400 cheaper, maybe can try Taobao or aliexpress too.https://shopee.com.my/Samsung-32GB-DDR4-266...0041.2312699848 https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-2666MHz-Memo...72335281&sr=8-4 This post has been edited by kuci_mayong: Oct 29 2019, 03:50 PM |

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Oct 29 2019, 03:59 PM) I think 16GB ram would be just nice. 8GB is minimum. But no worries, can you pluck in one more 8GB stick of ram. Mine already have 16GB ram in soldered slot, the socket slot is empty at the moment.32GB is overkill already la. Your T590 is both socket RAM or 1 soldered 1 socket? also how much RAM is the Soldered on your T590? It is not overkill, the point of owning thinkpad is not because you "need it", it is because "you can". |

QUOTE(KopiChia @ Oct 29 2019, 04:18 PM) Will it void warranty if we open replace ram/ssd? I got like 2 ssd and 2x16gb ddr4 laptop ram frm a dead laptop laying around. QUOTE(Benefon @ Oct 10 2019, 01:48 PM) Refer to YouTube Warranty won’t void you do Ram upgrade, they just void you touch on motherboard remove or remove cpu heatsink else QUOTE(Dirt Diver @ Oct 10 2019, 01:53 PM) For RAM it is one of the customer replaceable units CRUs on Thinkpad, so it should be okay to add on yourself. This post has been edited by kuci_mayong: Oct 29 2019, 04:29 PMHere is a Youtube playlist of things you can do to the T590 - from Lenovo Support To answer you question earlier, yes I did get the T590.(for cheap!!) https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-2m...WEta3QLlBCTTqtq ![]() |

QUOTE(harryfoo @ Oct 29 2019, 10:33 AM) Does it makes a lot of difference between 250 nits and 400 nits? I'll be using it indoor 95% of the time. I never tried higher than 250 nits so far, but for T495, sometimes I do wish I went with higher. Currently the nits brightness of my own usage is at 80-90% and I am indoors with windows close, no sunlight. Just giving you my feedback.Later this week or soon I will be getting a 300 nits display laptop, so then be able to compare between the two. QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Oct 29 2019, 04:43 PM) 8GB DDR4 2666MHz Onboard memory. So yeah, 8GB is soldered on the motherboard. Not sure how many extra slots I can use for additional ram because I didn't open it up to check the inside. Don't want to void the warranty, Upgraded the 256GB ssd to 512GB too to avoid opening up the lappie. Just checked for you. From T590 psref:![]() So for you you can go 8 + 32 = 40GB RAM (Even beats my T495 with soldered 16GB RAM, cause max i can go is 32GB due to AMD specs) If you went with the 16GB soldered it can 16 + 32 = 48 GB RAM Intel SoC normally can handle 64GB RAM total, but since the soldered is maxed at 16GB, it can't go more than 48GB RAM. |

QUOTE(Benefon @ Oct 29 2019, 11:05 AM) Nobody can tell it’s good than enough, belong to speed it’s enough For T495 (non-s), i find it unusual they place the fan vents next to the right of the laptop. So if you are using right hand with mouse and the fan kicks it you will feel the hot air blowing to your right hand (Fan doesn't kick in much, but when it does you feel it - I feel this is a design flaw). Why look at t495s ? Because it’s lightweight? If can just ignore for thin body chassis u will suffer of when charging while working and notice that heat blow direct on you. Most gaming laptops have their fan cooling vents at the back of the laptop which is better. Hope the ThinkBook 13s fan vents is not on the right side of the laptop. |
