This depend how you use the laptop.
16gb for general use should be good enough

more than enough lor. dont think u will do any hardcore apps that require very high ram usage on thinkbook specs. mostly chrome tabs lol.

Worth or not worth will depend on individual bro... Not everyone got the T13S for rm1010. 

if u require a laptop can handle of the said tasks easily, then u should have gone for something better than thinkbook 13s in the first place. U can have lots of rams but u will always be bottlenecked by the mobile processor and gpu inside the 13s.

thinkbook 13s specs is good for your everyday works like web browsing, microsoft office apps, very very light video/photo editing. in this case, 16gb is more than enough.

On my Dell 8gb seems enough because of graphic card but on a thinkbook with internal card I dont have experience.

Usually such as MX250 2gb good than enough for general purpose, I mean not include for games , just use for editing something else.

But laptop is always about compromising.
Battery life, weight etc.

The more ram you have, the higher than battery consumption.  Same goes to hdd ssd etc.

The more powerful cpu you have, the high battery consumption too.

It seems to come with dead battery you need to plug in to use at first time unlike my past experience with (msi gaming laptop). Of cause you need to setup Windows all over again. Later I will try see if my dead laptop's ram etc can be use here.
