So on one hand it's good because we get more opportunities due to cheap rate...on the other hand we are cheap labor like bangla to them  rclxub.gif

Not sure can compare to Bangla or not. Haha😅. But all i can say technical stuff position will be handling by Malaysia. Managements will be DK /Europe.

Most of expats worked in Orsted Malaysia for a while before jump ship to Europe for good. Get experience and aim for higher.

Compare to local like us, we are quite loyal. As long as culture is OK, we are happy to stay until retired. Haha.

Overall, still considered as good for Malaysia as otherwise the work would be shipped to India / other countries (which are even cheaper than malaysia) and also those people joining there are in top 10% of Malaysia salary scale for sure.

Oil and gas = 90% of headcount not working in Operators/ client like Petronas or shell.
Those outside the operators don't get crazy bonus...
So, better correct understanding to just Oil and Gas Operators.. Even that, its for the permanent staff..

Yea. Am working for a OnG service company as a contract worker. Soon there will be joint venture and potential restructuring which makes it difficult for me to decide

For Eng, I can’t comment since I’m from IT. Maybe different pay range.

For IT payscale I can said it is top 30 maybe. Salary wise for Senior is starting 12k and cap at 16k. Hardly to reach 18k unless you’re super talented or senior architect.

If you need higher, jump to management , became Cc leader/Head. Salary wise around <23k.

Calculate salary annual vs new annual

Current: (Basic) * 12
Bonus: (Estimated / Average per annum)
Other benefits:

Total :

Vs Orsted
Basic * 12
Bonus: Estimated 1.5-2 Months / annum.
Other benefits: Orsted surely more than any O&G

Total:

Then compare base on above

I was surprised to see the salary range is similar to other Nordic companies. Thought given it's an oil and gas company it'll be higher hmm.gif

Bonus is also lower than I expected...maybe Petronas pays too well? Or it's just rumors as well?

Perception is important in the industry (Whether O&G or not).
Many those joined this company at initial stage was WOW'ed by salary as they (many) came from underpaid background..

PETRONAS pay for permanent is not that crazy but once add bonus and see annual package, can say very good

I was once offered by Petronas for an IT role and I think it pays higher than other industry but I rejected the role because it's still lesser than what I am getting. Bonus I don't know tho..how much bonus does Petronas pays?

Ya perception is important..some says banking gives big bonuses but some of my friends who worked in local bank says otherwise hmm.gif

Bonus depends on which unit and IT not necessary gets same as the main units

Banking - depends on which unit, if working in branch memang salary also not high.
Some banks like RH(X) pays not well..

Afraid no sir. We are under Shared Service ( IT and Finance) , so that’s the pay range. So it someone earn more than 16k, it is very unlikely you will get offer or selected. Even you get offered, it’s not much from what you earn. Having said that, for mid level, it’s good jump.

My colleague from Petronas Digital, around 8-9 years exp. He earn 6.8k. And joined Orsted he received 12k. So big jump for him. But for others, the average pay range for 8-10, some are earn more than 8k.

Last time petronas digital not so much bonus but better for most average IT companies. Between 2-4 months. Depends on performance. Nowadays, i think petronas bonus are align between Digital(IT) and others function. Can’t say I’m sure about this, but that’s the direction.

So yeah if add up bonus + monthly wage, annual is quite ok as well.

I do have a friend who worked there..he said bonus is not that high which tallies with what you guys have been saying here - about 1 to 1.5 months. However the benefits are good and working hours are quite flexible. Salary wise I also don't think they can offer very good unless you are already underpaid but like deckhand said they don't lowball and they give you according to the market rate.

My friend told me that they are expanding this year...hiring a lot of IT staffs. Probably cutting headcounts overseas and hire Malaysia here cause we are cheap labors  tongue.gif
*
since you said flexible hours, may i know if they enforce the work in office thingy?

most tech companies they do enforce 3days WIO 2days WFH arrangement, while some is more flexible as in satisfying x number of WIO days and you can arrange when you like to go office as you like

so how is Orsted going?

and how is the range Orsted paying for mid senior (something between junior and senior) ?

Wow, oil and gas bonus are quite good. Petronas and Shell average 3-6 months. Orsted bonus is capped to 1.5 months. It is mentioned in offer letter as well previously. I’m not sure either the new hired nowdays  received samw info on this.

Normally you will get 1 months or 1.2 months because it is really depends on your performance.
*
the bonus is performance bonus or contractual bonus?

They don't really enforce it as far as I know..it's more to up to your manager and you don't abuse it.

Pay wise I am not sure about the range. I do know if you are getting low paid from other firm..you will probably get more here but if you are already well paid I don't think you will get a lot here.
