Frankly speaking, my daily usage is hardly reaching RM 6 ...
So, it's not really beneficial to me ... This post has been edited by David83: May 6 2007, 12:17 AM |

Hey guys, just wondering, what's the difference between a 017-6xx xxxx number and, for example, a 017-2xx xxxx number?
A friend once told me that the 4th number represents the state. 3 and 6 for KL and 4 for Penang. Does it make a difference nowadays? Want to switch to Hotlink, and was wondering what kind of number I should get. And also, I've been reading through the thread, and it seems that there are many types of plans available. How will I know which prepaid simpack is using which plan? Thanks in advance for the help |

QUOTE(glabb @ May 6 2007, 01:28 AM) Hey guys, just wondering, what's the difference between a 017-6xx xxxx number and, for example, a 017-2xx xxxx number? It doesn't really represent the state but it could represent which region your number belongs to; Central, Northern, Southern, Eastern or East Malaysia (Sabah/Sarawak). A friend once told me that the 4th number represents the state. 3 and 6 for KL and 4 for Penang. Does it make a difference nowadays? Want to switch to Hotlink, and was wondering what kind of number I should get. It does matter as the newer Hotlink plans' (Total & Easy) call rate is calculated based on regions. When you made a call within the same region, it'll be cheaper compared to an inter-region call. Generally, 2, 3, 6 and part of 9 will be considered as Central Region. 4 and 5 for Northern. 7 for Southern. Most of the 9 are Eastern. And lastly, 8 for Sabah and Sarawak. Thanks David.
So that means if I live in KL, I should be safe getting a number starting with 2,3 or 6? -edit- Just wondering, when I register my number, is it possible to fax to Maxis? If so, is there a general number that I can use? Thanks again. This post has been edited by glabb: May 6 2007, 11:49 AM |

Usually in term of determinating which region (for call rate), usually the caller will suffer.
Let say, your number is a Central region and your caller is from other regions, he/she has to pay more. The same thing when you call your friends. If his/her number is not same region as you, you'll be charged more. |

Current location of the caller AND 2. Where the number called is registered http://www.hotlink.com.my/abouthotlink/callrates_about.htm |
