There is over a 100 million PS4s shipped, Sony won't be dropping support for the base model any time soon. The last time this happened, the PS2 specifically - it stayed on for so long.
More over with backwards compatibility being one of the core focus for the PS5 - it's easy to see why the PS4 will continue to sell well for at least the next 2 years. |

The new buyer will be interested with PS5 only. PS5 gamers don't need to buy PS4 to play PS4 exclusive game. Existing PS4 users will stick to PS4 if the game devs making multi port game compatible until they stopped do that in few more years. Looking at PS3-PS4 situation, yeah they could happen. Sony will always favours demands, that's the reason they abandoned Vita early despite still in good selling in Japan. So the PS4 platform itself is still running but maybe not on production units. |

That is for sure. The PS5 comes out, the PS4 drops in price for those who just wants an entry level machine to play games. The enthusiasts will pick the PS5. Either way, it generates the revenue Sony wants into their ecosystem. Production for PS4 isn't stopping anytime soon. |

Even Nintendo already discontinued the normal 3DS, XL while keeping 2DS. The thing is even after PS4 Pro made, there are barely interesting thing on PS4. Some more new gamers prefer to gaming system that can play on higher setting with 60fps which is PS5 will be capable. In order for the PS5 to actually hit its targets, the PS5 isn't going to be selling as cheap as the PS4. If the PS5 has a good exclusive during launch that justifies the price, then you'll see many early adopters.
If its main draw during launch is a current gen game GOW or Spiderman with updated graphics, content and 60 fps I dont think it'll be enough. |

since they will give you the choice of options for modular installation like multiplayer or campaign only, don't expect the SSD to be too big
I would expect the standard spec comes with maximum 500Gb SSD only or even 256Gb if they decided to be cheapskate about it and for the type of the SSD? I'll bet it gonna be a PCIE 3.0 x4 M.2 NVME SSD in order to bring the cost down but who knows, it could be a faster & more expensive PCIE 4.0 x8 M.2 NVME SSD? |

With the current ps4 pro priced around 1799, and considered within affordability range, a Ps5 pro would cost perhaps about 2.5k with 1.8 for standard vanilla.

I'd rather they charge it at a high price than try to short change people like with the PS4, which was already outdated even before it release.

If they go the mobile phone way then PS4 should continue to exist.
Maybe like games from now onwards can only be play by PS4 pro and ps5 then later 2.5 years release ps5 pro and games only support by ps5 onwards. This can be done so by having more higher demand graphics pushing the PS4 to being obsolete. |

Rumor has it PS5 will have backward compatibility from PS1 up to PS4.
I've never bought console on release. But PS5 kinda excites me. This is gonna be a generational leap for sure. Using SSD, ray tracing. |
