Under day light it's doesn't too appearing. In night, GG. Whole world know you got dash cam. Specially it flashing (parking+recording)
Most dashcams, you can turn off the screen. I think it is better to leave it on so that can show people I have a dashcam. Then they will be more careful knowing they will be recorded if they do something to my car.
Here if blink blink ppl will say this car have an expensive dashcam and break your window and that's it... I don't mind if the dashcam get stolen, but the window been break and damage all over the car.
Yeah, I had that dilemma too when I was deciding to install a dashcam. So far is there any case where car got broke in because burglar want to steal dashcam?
I see, that is the reason i am reluctant to get a dash cam few years as I cant stand seeing the dangling cables in my friend's car and also worried that any tampering my void my car's warranty.
Haha yeah, I will probably be too lazy to put the cam back on but at the same time worried about getting the windows smashed.
If you are worried about getting your windows smashed then get a more discreet dashcams like the 70mai (non pro) or the B1w or those others without screen. Small footprint means less chances of it being detected by potential windows smashers (like Mat Botak going to jail for 1 year). LOL.
Jokes aside, if you have more budget then get brands like BlackVue which also have similarly small cam design. So anyway, I got B1w and really like it. They have really good support online in a forum and they are constantly updating their firmware for features like parking mode and so on.
For the asking price of B1w, it is the best bang for bucks with supercapacitor. Don't expect it to be as good as Blackvue or viofo which is 5x the price. Good enough for me.
Check out a video I just extracted from B1w. The night video is darker than usual because I am using a CPL lense which is supposed to improve against glare. If you don't use the CPL lense, videos will be brighter and easier to see at night.

Noob here n would like to clarify a few things on dash cam . Can somebody please confirm if my understanding below is correct?
1. If we want our dashcam to have the parking mode, must do hardwiring. 2. If do hardwiring, for sure will void the warranty of the car? For a car there are few warranties with different period. Will it void all warranty or only certain type of warranty?
1. Depends on what is your understanding of parking mode. There are basically 2 type of parking mode.
First type is the dash will turn off when you park. However it will wake up and do recording when the g-sensor detected movement or shocks. This type of parking mode does not need hardwiring as there are battery in the dash that have enough juice for it to work for a couple of minutes.
The second type is continuous recording. When car is parked, the recording will be low framerate and/or low bitrate. Once car starts moving, it will record back at normal rate. This type need continuous power means need hardwiring.
2. Not sure about this but you can use a piggyback fuse tap which does not modify any of the electrical components. Picture below:

If your car has an issue with electronic, go to accessories shop first to remove the hardwiring before go to check or claim at the service center. but during installation, you need to make sure plug and play and not cut any wire. I do this all the while and never void any warranty. This also has to depend on the Service Center that you go.
I am just wondering, can we argue that we install the dashcam for our safety? Cause SC don't provide this dashcam service. We need to install that for safety which SC did not provide. If got accident, SC going to compensate, is it? Haha...can argue like this?

Budget: <Rm 500 Preferred Features: FHD or better, Wifi, Night Vision, Suction mount
Viofo A119 v2 should fit your budget. Not sure if it's suction though. BTW, I read that suction comes out easily after some time. I guess due to the rubber being under the sun. Then again, finding a replacement is not that hard for that.
Read on Civic group, an owner change speakers and LED bulbs, got a fuse burnt bright back to SC and they reported to HM and his whole Civic warranty bye bye d. Less than 1 years old car.
Well, can't blame them also. Cause the SC people are doing their work. It is already written on the manual any changes to the car will void warranty. Even changing rim.
Just because most SC close one eye to this doesn't means they are right. By right they should advice the customer on this and tell them it will void warranty. If not change back then bye bye warranty.
That is why in developed countries, they have authorized parts installer and repair centers. You cannot just simply send to any Tom, Dick & Harry workshop to fix or mod your under warranty car.
Indeed. That's the challenge where the firmware needs to be able to identify where to focus.
But that's where it's the largest area needs to be improve over time. Just wondering during its beep or the screen lifted up, did you notice if the recording resets back to 0.00 and start recording again?
My A129 currently does that and I'm still figuring out is it the firmware issue or my fuse tap from the ACC tapping into cigar fuse. It only happens during my idle-start-stop ignition
Does your cig port power off when idle start/stop is activated? You can easily test by plugging phone for charging. If it turns off, you can see from your phone it stop charging.
What do you guys think of iroad dashcams? I see lots of talk on Thinkware only. I am sure it is very good quality but for the price, sometimes out of budget for certain people. iroad seems more affordable. How is the quality compared to thinkware or even viofo?
As above. Me as iroad x9 user. It ist the bad dashcam. But it have some basic issue like file format and app support File format I won't care so much as I put in pc and export The real issue is the app. Android 9 almost can't connect the dashcam keep ask me to pair. Even successfully pair, can't go in to review video or it immediately disconnected. Reason unknown.
IF you have extra budget, go for Thinkware or Blackvue. Iroad sit in between high end and low end. Not the bad dashcam but also not the perfect dashcam for its price.
Okay, so you are saying iroad is not worth it's asking price? Might as well get viofo, right?
What is consider bottom low for viofo? I am waiting for 11.11 to buy also. Looking for a dash that have rear cam also.
So far I have finalize Yunsun H6 selling at 160++. If viofo is going for really cheap then I can consider it. Don't mind paying a bit more for the quality.
