QUOTE(KIntos @ Jul 27 2019, 12:43 PM) Its indeed complicated for normal consumer. Thats the beauty of electronics. Some hardwire kit is come with voltage display on the screen. Therefore can direct offset the voltage based on the displayed voltage on the camera. The problem is with the Viofo HK3 hardwire kit. Set 12.4V cut off, sometimes at 11.9/12V only cut off power.Atleast vicovation power kits can be adjust voltage offset. Hmm vicovation moved out of dashcam business. So to do a simple hardwire kit setup, just measured the voltage into hardwire kits and use the cutoff limit and gauge from there. This is current method im using personally. Thinkware can adjust the voltage cutoff like Vicovation. So you're not using the Viofo HK3 with your Viofo dashcams but the Vicovation Power Plus? So I think no need to do your measure voltage technique as this depends on the dashcam or hardwire kit's voltage reading is accurate or not. |

QUOTE(KIntos @ Jul 27 2019, 05:44 PM) I was using vicovation from a119 till now still the same unit. Not really in need on parking mode. Even vicovation, im measured and apply the same method. Ok. So you never used the any hardwired kit with the Viofo's parking mode. Noted. Its same, you will still need to measure the voltage of the input to the hardwire kit vs battery voltage. Also whether current battery after overnight, how much voltage left? From there to gauge the cut off limit setting. |

QUOTE(KIntos @ Jul 27 2019, 10:16 PM) I used viofo hardwire kit during parking test on beta testing and on my demo unit and i dont have any problem on it for 2 weeks testing. I still have the hardwire kit installed on my vehicle. Noted but did you test with the v1.8 firmware for A129 Duo? V1.8 have the buffered parking mode feature after the release of A129 Duo IR and A119V3 which also have buffered parking mode in June 2019. Should be all different from the beta firmware and the initial parking mode firmware of the A129 Duo. |

QUOTE(alandhw @ Jul 28 2019, 07:40 AM) Any reccomendation? Think off getting the mirror type dash cam, it is consider descrete type right? Wonder why most of the review was done on the non mirror type. Rear mirror types are usually using lithium batteries, using silicon straps that will get loose over time, the lens is recording the left side more as on the left instead of center. And the rear cam is usually 720p.Prefer to use dashcams that are hidden behind the rear view mirror instead. Like Viofo A119 series or A129. The above is my 2sen. QUOTE(KIntos @ Jul 28 2019, 10:02 AM) Im tested on 1st version. You mean firmware different causing hardwire kit fail to cut off or the additional pre-buffer feature? The buffered parking mode was not working in firmware before v1.8 (released in June 2019). Im aware v1.8 and i do have the firmware in my pc. That time was only low bitrate parking mode is available which uses less power than buffered parking mode. Buffered parking is constantly recording without saving to the micro SD until motion or impact is triggered then will save 15s before and 30s after the trigger. Also, Viofo parking mode is activated when there is no motion detected for 1 minute after the engine is off. You can now save v1.9 in your pc |

QUOTE(danshi @ Jul 28 2019, 05:21 PM) Hi, Both are good models but in the will depend on your budget.Wanted to seek some advice. Was looking for dashcams and I saw two which I'm interested in. Viofo A129 and Thinkware Q800. Which one of this two would be the best choice? You can go over to Sicurez in Sunway to see both as Sicurez is the distributor for Viofo and Thinkware in Malaysia. |

QUOTE(lawrencehl @ Jul 28 2019, 10:19 PM) How about 70mai pro? Saw it cheaper than viofo 70mai Pro is good but using lithium-ion battery inside. Batteries long term don't go well in hot countries like Malaysia. Read the 1st post about it.Forget to mention budget 350 with memory card, should take how much storage and model? You can find cheap A119 V2 in Lazada or Aliexpress but the warranty will be zero. Or you can check with Sicurez (authorized distributor) in Sunway for any promos. For micro SD card, get Samsung Evo Plus in Lazada also but from trusted stores like Mono Digital or Ookas or PC Byte. 64GB about less than rm40 for original from SME. Another dashcam to look out for is the BlueSkySea B1W. It's the best budget capacitor dashcam. |

QUOTE(lawrencehl @ Jul 29 2019, 11:16 AM) Thanks for the advice, is worth to take Viofo a119 over b1w? A119 v2 is a mid range dashcam while B1W is entry level.Design wise I prefer b1w, if b1w can have clear output quantity I think will go for it You can check out my reviews for both here: https://jwtechreviews.com/2016/10/13/viofo-a119-dashcam/ https://jwtechreviews.com/2017/12/09/blueskysea-b1w/ Both models have been around more than 2 years now. A119 v3 is the latest new version that was released June this year. |

QUOTE(MasterConfucion @ Jul 29 2019, 03:29 PM) Hi guys, Welcome!Im new to the dashcam scene and will probably ask some noob questions. Hope u can bear with me and help out a fellow newbie here. 1. Does the dash cam need to be set up by expert or can diy set up? WIll it have wiring that needs to be done professionally? 2. Does the dash cam power as a stand alone unit or need to connect to car battery? I notice some have this parking function means there is no way the battery can last forever right? Or it is rechargeable? 3. Will it drain the car battery and faster finish if it connect to car battery? 4. I notice some dash cam I read about doesn't have hardware kit for parking mode. What does the hardware kit means and how do I get them? 1. You can DIY install it yourself. There's a lot of youtube videos that you can watch and learn from. 2. You can power the dashcam using a USB car charger via the ciggie port or hardwired to the car fuse box or via the OBD port or using a LiFePO 4 battery if you scared car battery drain. 3. Depends on the dashcam. Higher-end dashcam like those from Korea will have voltage monitoring and cut-off, also true parking mode. China dashcam has built-in lithium battery to provide some power for the impact parking mode but not as long dashcam that is using a hardwire kit or a LiFePO 4 battery. 4. Not all dashcam has parking mode function. There are 2 types of hardwire kit 1) the 2 wires hardwire kit which is used to power your dashcam when you start your engine 2) 3 wires hardwire kit which has the function of the 2 wires and also power the dashcam when the engine is off to run the parking mode. More of the info above is at the 1st post. Go read it. This post has been edited by blurjoey: Jul 29 2019, 04:03 PM |

QUOTE(MasterConfucion @ Jul 29 2019, 05:48 PM) thanks for the warm welcome. most senpai r not so welcoming to newbie with basic questions like these. i have been doing some research before coming here and read a lot from this expert reviewer called jwtech. u should check his review out. he does a lot of dash cam review. You're welcome and thank you for supporting my review site i’m interested in the ddpai mini3 cos i place some importance to the exterior look and prefer minimalistic and simple design. do u have any input to this model? is it good? DDPai Mini3 is actually quite a good dashcam. My friends still using their mini3 since I did the review and giveaway in March 2018. |

QUOTE(glassenergiz @ Jul 31 2019, 08:23 AM) Hi. I would like to know is there any guide or video tutorial on how to change battery for the car camera recorder? Mine is the China made type with 4g android which is mounted on the back mirror screen You'll need to open up and see if it using socket type or solder-on type. Then you'll need to find a compatible battery to use. Some mirror dashcam does use a replaceable battery like the the Nokia BL-5C battery size. |

QUOTE(MasterConfucion @ Jul 31 2019, 04:26 PM) ya that's my point. so get a dashcam with both front n back is impotrant right? Cos not many dash cam is include rear cam. Only more expensive 1. Can look at BlueSkySea Mini0906 or Viofo A129 DuoQUOTE(Calveez @ Jul 31 2019, 04:34 PM) Hi, A129 Duo as new firmware v1.8 onwards have buffered parking mode now. A129 Pro 4K is coming soon in a few weeks I hope.Extremely new to this dashcam stuffs, am looking for front and rear dashcam, found MINI 0906. Is it a good choice or is there any other recommendation (same budget range) Saw some review on the B1W too, but is preety old version. Anything newer with auto parking mode & uses capacitor? Thanks for sharing your thoughts. QUOTE(kord @ Jul 31 2019, 07:03 PM) whoa.. that would be pretty expensive even when converted to nzd currency.. Sorry. Not sure about NZ market.anyway, i just googled and found out about the (just) newly launched garmin 56..it doesnt have dual channel, but you can buy 2 of these and get them to sync.. should cost less than thinkware tho.. but still more than rm1.5k-ish if converted..haha.. ADAS for front and rear.. overkill. QUOTE(alexander3133 @ Jul 31 2019, 08:02 PM) You may take a look at Lukas K-900 QD, can get from gmarket or 11street korea if you want.
