Done installing rear dashcam too. Unable to avoid the defroster strip. Also, placed it slightly lower than the topmost area to avoid being hit by rear-curtain. Even that, it still slighly hits it but no choice. Manage to hide the excess wire at the car boot.

Are you guys able to make the Voice Command function working? For example, Take Picture to capture a picture. Unable to find ways to enable it at setting.

The rear dashcam is affected by reflection. See pic, the arrow is ponting to the end of my boot. Abit hard to see

Not sure if they have CPL for the rear cam or not. Another is to put a black mat at white plastic there.

Guys, i am planning to purchase Blackvue DR970X + B130X power battery pack.

Interested in using the Blackvue Cloud service for 24/7 remote live monitoring.

But i was wondering, to have a 24/7 4G internet in your car, you  going to need a portable 4G router + powerbank right?
but having powerbank (Li Polimer or LiOn based) is dangerous because it's a fire hazard.

but so far i surveyed, no LiFePo4 based small powerbank is available. Only those big mini powerstations like Bluetti EB3A that cost like a bomb & quite bulky to be used, so not very practical.
LiFePo4 is safe to store in extreme temperatures.

Then i researched on Blackvue B130X battery pack, got a USB output port. So if i buy a 4G router stick such as below:

RS 4G router stick USB

should work wonders right? Maybe i just get a hotlink pantas, activate the 365 validity + 5GB pass, should be sufficient ya?

anybody here got use Blackvue or Thinkware CLOUD service before?
You think it's worth it to give extra protection for your car?

I've used Thinkware cloud before for review purpose. It's good. You get notifications for any g-sensor triggers on your phone. You can straight stream the video of the trigger and can also live view.

Only for those who want to do the above and have the extra $.

Yes the USB 4G modem router will work with the battery pack. But remember that the battery pack can last about 20+ hours in parking mode. If add the USB 4G modem router and you keep on remoting on to view will drain the battery pack faster.

Yes you did, I always wanted Thinkware too, but I'm just too paranoid of voiding the warranty, so ended up still getting from HS
*
Better bring back to HS and complain since you paid rm3k for it

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Jul 10 2023, 02:00 PM)
Some basic questions.

1. Can any normal front dashcam be used as a rear dashcam?
2. Is it advisable to go with standard dashcam option by car manufacturer (for rear dashcam) to minimise hassle since it will be installed in the factory, or go with aftermarket one which uses different app to control since the front dashcam is already included with the vehicle using the car manufacturer's app?

For me, as long as the dash camera can take clear pictures of the number plate, that's good enough for me. Don't need any fancy features but was just curious about the pros and cons of having an integrated app to control both front and rear dashcams, or 2 different apps to control the front and rear dashcams separately since they come from different brands/manufacturers.
*
1. Yes you can. You need to consider the extra micro SD card, where to get power for the dashcam.
2. Yes car manufacturer will void your car warranty. But best to know the service center 1st and ask. Certain SC will close 1 eye and some won't. The dashcam from them is just an OEM from China at a high price.

For those very expensive dashcam up to 2.5k above, what is the difference with the budget one like 70mai? What is the reason to buy such expensive dashcam

Blackvue, thinkware, iroad

Using Korean dashcam is more for durability and features. Like my F8 Pro and U1000 has been using since day 1 until today with 0 issues. And Korean dashcam has true parking mode which records 10s before and after the incident triggers. China dashcam has starts recording after triggers or timelapse.

iRoad i wont consider.

Anyone can confirm the 70mai A810 4k dashcam is it using Type-C as connection cable?
*
Dashcams now all have moved to USB Type-C from micro USB. Only Koreans are still propiertary power ports.

Here is from 70mai A810 website. DCIN is power and its USB Type C.

Which one should I go for between

70MAI A500 & DDPAI Z50.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Best to go into 70mai and DDPAI facebook group and search for issues. You can read a lot issues there and decide.

hi all sifu, 70mai a810 is the latest model with motion detection parking mode?? tqtq

If not wrong, they are implementing the parking mode from Omni. But reliability is questionable if you read 70mai facebook group.

Looks like so many buying 70mai now. Really better than Viofo?

I was expecting them to be in the same league as Korean dashcam by now but it's hard to say now. FineVu got my attention for what Viofo should have become.

If i want to priotize ease of use in getting the video from the dashcam into the phone to upload into the jpj app to raise complaint which brand have the best app? Between 70mai, ddpai, azdome and safecam?
*
Top budget brand would be 70mai and DDPAI. Azdome used to be good as they are top manufacturer for OEM dashcams.

Can anyone enlighten me on hardwiring dash cam, does it affect the battery significantly to cause issue especially with newer cars full of electronics and sensors. Been using OG 70mai dashcam with battery, previously it can last a few hours through the night (just impact detection, not full 24hr monitor) but battery has degraded a lot, now once power cut, it can only last 1 min or so.
*
Hardwiring will only affect your car battery as it is using it's power when the car engine is off. How fast the car battery drain will depends on the dashcam and how's good is the voltage cutoff.

Another is to use an external dashcam battery pack which can power your the parking mode when the engine is off and it will be plug to either your ciggie port, OBD port or hardwire to the fuse box to charge when the car is started. Battery pack is not a powerbank ya.

Hardwiring will afftect your car electronics if installations is done wrongly. But do know car manufacturers will say it is not factory installed thus warranty void.

What is the different between battery pack and powerbank?

Isn't powerbank a fancy name for battery pack?
*
Dashcam battery pack is using lithium iron phosphate battery (LiFePO 4 battery) which is being used in all EV cars. That's why more expensive than powerbank.

Powerbank is using li-ion which can explode when gets hot.

I am wondering about the A810 parking mode

can battery cut off ? is it safe to avoid eating up the car battery power
*
Depends on how accurate the 70mai volatage cutoff is as you will need at least 12v to start your engine.

QUOTE(eikozai @ Aug 9 2023, 12:33 AM)
I just got mine installed today in Dasher Glenmarie. This is what i read from the manual booklet.
The UP04 hardwire kit will provide low-voltage protection to prevent over-discharging of the car battery due to the continuous operation of the main device.

Low voltage protection will cutoff battery supply when the car battery voltage dropped to:
i) 11.8BV (12V Battery)
ii) 23.6V (24V Battery)
*
11.88v is kind of low. Thinkware can set it to cutoff at a few voltage settings and I used to set mine at 12.4v. Now using a battery pack no need to worry car battery flat.

how do u charge the battery pack, use the 12V socket?

My battery pack is hardwired to my fusebox and it will charge when the engine in running.

You can also use the 12V socket to charge when the engine is running.
