This advice is correct. Many fresh grads I know often overlook the importance of insurance and medical cards. There are many insurance products which are invetment-linked. I would recommend getting a good insurance package or ILP, then only invest if there is still extra fund.
*
I would advise NOT to get ILP. Keep protection and investment separate.

100% agree, there are better vehicle for investment. Most ILP benefit the insurance agent@salesman more than a non ILP insurance that is why they are pushing it. Btw, i am almost 40 and i never took any insurance and totally depended on my company. The money not given to insurance company is invested instead.

You should still have your own policy in case you are no longer employed with your company or for some situations the company policy can no longer cover.

yikes. company insurance is bad and always got quota. if got 2 person need to have bypass operation and the company has only coverage for one then you are fucuked.
ILP is a buffer to prevent premium increase that's all. not a way to make money but to ensure your premium stays at the same price as long as possible (assuming the funds are profitable).
*
In the first few years of ILPs not 100% goes into protection and investment. A chunk of it goes to the agent's commission. That's why ILP is BAD BAD BAD

Just to chime my 2cents since its off work now. ILP, for me if you buy it long enough like 20-30years, and you nothing major happens you can consider it as get your full amount back before you die. Anytime before that and something happens then free coverage.

Never believe it can make you rich or provide you with anything more than the coverage. Never happened yet as I know it.

But, I still spend a huge sum on it as I am the bread winner in my family and if anything happens to me I need to know my family will not have to worry, or suffer any lack. In fact they are better of if I die now hahaha....only problem is if I half dead and the money may only cover my expenses + lack of income.
*
Actually what you mentioned is applicable for full protection products also. The premium you pay for ILP and plain jane protection plans are different too. So the difference is on the performance of the fund invested and the premium paid.

Anyway, let's get back to SA topic rather than insurance. biggrin.gif

Is recurring direct debit enabled already? Or is it still disabled?

I checked from my app, saw my direct debit plan is 'In Progress'...

Even if enabled, I still prefer to do manual jompay, safer and directly under my control

Hi SAMY guys

I just invested 100 bucks as start off for SA Simple. Been monitored for about 2 weeks. So far only drop a few cents then up back a few cents, I see at long term progress and can comfortably place 100 bucks per month.

Currently my SA risk index is 14%. Not too bad?

Thanks
*
What do you want us to tell you? Risk index is up to each individual's risk preference

Yup just to understand more on the risk index. Btw, i can change the risk index whenever i want right? or only can be change monthly etc?
*
Yes you can change the risk index whenever but the system will try to buy/sell more or less on each particular asset to meet the risk index and more frequent buying/selling might or might not be a good thing, depending on the situation.

Several times when my risk was only at 8%, it still managed to go into negative territory, but still ok. It's now at 22%. Still ok lah.

My TWR today is 9.12%, MWR is 13.89%. Invested by DCA either monthly or every 2 months (depending on my mood and extra cash available) since Nov 2019. SRI at 22%.

I withdrew a bit from SA on 12 Oct. Let's see how fast the transaction completes. As of today it is still "in process".

Hi, may i know the amount you received is it same as what you withdraw in the SA apps?
Or there will be some fluctuate? (1-2 days movement)
*
Slightly different due to the movement and currency exchange, but negligible. I actually got back slightly more than I requested for withdrawal.
