Answer from KWSP enquiry:-

Please be informed that a salaried employee who receives a monthly/mandatory contribution from their employer is not eligible to receive the government incentives under the i-Saraan scheme.

Additionally, please be advised that the government incentives for the i-Saraan scheme contributions have been postponed until further notice and will be confirmed once the Budget 2023 has been finalized.

If you wish to voluntarily contribute to your EPF account, you may opt to make your own voluntary payment under self-contribution scheme at any time until the age of 75 with any minimum amount but not more than RM60,000.00 in a year.

For self-contribution, right... would the withdrawal rules applies the same as those 'forced' contributions? Like have to wait until retirement etc

I believe so... the withdrawal rule is the same because the money goes to Account 1 (or does it split ?)

So rates aside (which is normally higher than regular FD's), the downside is the withdrawal. Like have to commit for long time, with rules applicable. Something the contributors will have to consider

Most probably they will check the availability of the monthly employer contribution.
Most probably cannot do it immediately after resignation or "self employed".

Not dropped, it was not debated and passed. Wait for the new budget to be tabled see if it is still proposed.

My Self contribution amount also split into
70% Account 1
30% Account 2

I thought all goes to Account 1
