QUOTE(Chounz @ Jul 12 2019, 04:17 PM) Is in US exchange market. Based on the tradestation global table should be USD1.5, since i only purchase 10 units (should charge the minimum commission). USD1 seem like is the minimum commission for IB. Worry later will kena charge the IB minimum activity fee USD10 , because all my funding, trade also made through IB mobile app. Just go to the Trade Confirmation report I mentioned previously and you should be able to confirm if you're on TradeStation from the Account Information section

summary report
tradestation global 0.12% or GBP1.5 whichever higher captrader 0.1% or EUR4 whichever higher
For more frequent, smaller fund top-up, tradestation is preferred.

Can I say that from the info in your 1st post, I can choose to either open a Tradestation or captrader account? If I hoot one lump sum amount (say RM10-20k), captrader is better. And if I start small, and top up bit by bit, Tradestation is better? (I understand that brokerage fee will be incurred every time I top up) Just started to do some basic reading, before I start my journey and join you all

Further reading for serious index investor
1) john bogle - common sense of mutual fund investing 2) markiel - fooled by randomness 3) zweig - your money and your brain (on our tendency to be overconfident and swing to individual stockpicking)
Btw, part of my phd study focuses on the advantage of going indexing as a way to invest. Stay tuned =)

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Jul 4 2019, 06:41 AM) Initiate a transfer via IB via SGD. They will give you a virtual bank account. Use the details given and do FAST transfer into the virtual account provided. What will be the fee incurred? is it just 2USD fee, then just *** SGD x conversion rate to *** USD? "good rate" of FX conversion from SGD to USD (to make sure if you are buying USD stock/ ETF) offered by IB.? Is the above correct? Can i also know what's the consideration you all have when come to choosing the following ETF: VUSD:LN Vanguard S&P 500 UCITS ETF CSPX:LN iShares Core S&P 500 UCITS ETF SXR8:GR iShares Core S&P 500 UCITS ETF Thanks in advance

IB exchange rate is spot rate (real time market price used by banks to borrow and lend each other) and cheaper than what's shown in google/XE.
