Alexkos,
Hi,
can comment any summary after so many posts of update?

Which one is better broker for this S&P 500 ETF?
CapTrader or TradeStation?
What is the best method (cheapest cost) to transfer the fund, for typical Malaysia and for individual with Singapore bank account (Malaysian working in Singapore).

If not mistaken, TradeStation has an inactivity fee of $50 if less than 5x transaction per year.
And need to becareful if any data that you have subcribed that may be charged for some fees.

Is all European and London have 15% witholding tax,
while US is with 30% witholding tax?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Got written response from TradeStation Global support confirming no inactivity fee when queried late Apr 2019
*
From the online chat support, i was told that there will be inactivity as i mentioned.
i can share the screen shot if u guys like to see.

QUOTE(alexkos @ Jul 2 2019, 01:44 PM)
CapTrader  min 4eur or 0.1% whichever higher
Tradestation global min 1.5gbp or 0.12% whichever higher
*
Tradestation and Tradestation Global.. is there any difference?
Anyway, the fee thing i am asking.. Don't seem to be able to find any info online? (or i can't find it?)

From the fee u mentioned, generally if less capital, TradeStation >> CapTrader lo?

QUOTE(alexkos @ Jul 2 2019, 01:45 PM)
Say first, pls hoot sp500 only after considering your asset allocation.

Eg. 50/50 asset allocation. Means 50% hoot equity, 50% hoot fixed income.

Alex duwan see ppl here hoot too much equity. When market downturn, Fuiyo I tell you..... Just see 2008 as lesson.

thanks to u, i just get to know what is boglehead 3 fund portfolio.
Dont worry.. always DYDD right?

This is what I got from a rep named Oscar

TradeStation is US market only (US domicile, with SIPC protection), TradeStation Global covers US and outside (UK domicile, regulated by FCA)

Fees, or rather broker commission I'm assuming you were referring to:
https://www.tradestation-international.com/...ng-commissions/
https://www.tradestation.com/pricing/
https://www.tradestation-international.com/
Didn't notice there is a difference between Tradestation US and Global (international) rclxub.gif

QUOTE(alexkos @ Jul 2 2019, 01:44 PM)

Tradestation global min 1.5gbp or 0.12% whichever higher

So generally TradeStation need about 1,250 GBP (About 6,500 MYR) can hoot already right? (0.12% of 1,250 GBP = 1.5 GBP fee)

Initiate a transfer via IB via SGD. They will give you a virtual bank account. Use the details given and do FAST transfer into the virtual account provided.
*
What will be the fee incurred?
is it just 2USD fee, then just *** SGD x conversion rate to *** USD?
"good rate" of FX conversion from SGD to USD (to make sure if you are buying USD stock/ ETF) offered by IB.?
Is the above correct?

Can i also know what's the consideration you all have when come to choosing the following ETF:

VUSD:LN
Vanguard S&P 500 UCITS ETF

CSPX:LN
iShares Core S&P 500 UCITS ETF

SXR8:GR
iShares Core S&P 500 UCITS ETF

Thanks in advance

I don't do ETF. I invest in the companies themselves.
USD2 fee + whatever price you are converting at. IB exchange rate is spot rate (real time market price used by banks to borrow and lend each other) and cheaper than what's shown in google/XE.
*
so you are more to a stock picker? just lurking here for foreign broker instead of the index / ETF investing?

QUOTE(alexkos @ Jul 16 2019, 04:24 PM)
ic....

i go myr -> usd terus hoot CSPX...... until now payment also belum remit.....16 days d....

So what happen to your money? stuck somewhere?
And not suppose to remit / transfer fund from InstaRem to Captrader / Tradestation?
I thought i read somewhere that need to be from bank with your own name?

i am applying for the account with TradeStation.
I have to say this TradeStation support rep, Oscar Vogt which has been replying is quite cacat.
I am fed up the way they replied the email.
Always did not quote the previous email (then lost the record what was discussed), and always don't answer to the questions asked.
I don't mind to go with CapTrader because of this.

Currently i got the message from them that the IC is not accepted as there is no client's signature. Therefore need passport
Anyway, i remember seeing this, where similar issue is raised:
Lowyat topic:
All about ETFs / Foreign Brokers, Exchange traded funds, Post No. #1265

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Jul 16 2019, 10:22 PM)
So far never invested into ETF yet as I reaping all the dividends. Dividends gained, keep to be reinvested back so that produce more dividend. ETF dividend too pathetic.

So far from what we know
Transfering Eur via instarem works.
Transferring USD via instarem fails as in alex case.
Transferring USD using Transferwise fail as in my case.
*
Cool.. Thanks for the summary.

Perhaps when Ramjade and I applied they thought the signature was the ID holder's signature, only when more Malaysians applied they realised it was the Ketua Pengarah's signature instead  laugh.gif

Anyway, the Oscar dude wasn't bad at answering my questions (answered to quotes as well!), he even called from London but too bad I was in a meeting so can't talk and he replied to my queries via email instead.
*

wow, then u guys must be the first few to apply an account with TradeStation.

Any comment on the attached email, the way he replied?
For your info, the email i replied in earlier email saying that i noted on the signature requirement and i will provide passport. But he went on to reply something i didn't ask and ignore the other questions that i have asked. doh.gif

Well, lets see how the account opening goes.

Would like to ask further on the currency exchange to USD for buying.

What is the method u guys used?
i saw this blog from other forum.
https://keykeytravels.blogspot.com/2019/07/...conversion.html

Are u guys following the method from this blog?
which as per the blog Step 2c,
to go into order ticket, search for USD.SGD., then convert accordingly.

or...using the apps where there is "convert currency".
Using the apps, Under Trade:
order ticket,
order wheel
portfolio
ibot
"convert currency".

Any advise on which way to go for?
which method is recommended?

user posted image

if the ask price is 1.37176
and i need 1,000.00 USD,
means i need 1,371.76 of SGD.. is that correct?

I only got charged commission USD1.91 for my previous 2 rounds of trades ~USD1.4k. I calculated back then it was roughly equal to GBP1.5.
I use Trader Workstartion (TWS), and converted via FXCONV (only available in TWS). Only difference is using IDEALPRO a virtual FX position is created and it bugs me because I'm OCD like that.

If it doesn't bug you then WebTrader/IBKR Mobile is fine to use.

Step by step for TWS:

thanks for the reply again.

i find the method in keykeytravel like getting into forex position..
i will a little more research before i proceed with the currency conversion.
I have not much idea about FXCONV, IDEALPRO, virtual FX position.. but thanks for the heads up.

I see u have been mentioning GBP currency based S&P 500 ETFs, instead of USD based..
Are u taking into consideration of currency?

As we can see GBP is kinda cheap.. but how is the future prospect.

The next time u guys are withdrawing the money, need to go thru Singapore bank account?

For TSG, you may refer to this website for the review.
https://brokerchooser.com/broker-reviews/tr...iew-part-safety

TradeStation Global is an introducing broker of Interactive Brokers. If TradeStation Global suddenly defaults, no worries: your assets would be handled by Interactive Brokers, which is also regulated by the UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
