Thanks for the reply, i just checked on the first page, I'm still using the old router D-Link DIR-615 😅.

As for the BTU, what should i tell to replace it? I'm not sure the BTU is too old for me or not.
*
Just check the model of the BTU and if you need to replace it, call TM. Change to your own router though if you can.

Hello,

I was wondering is there a v3 firmware that i can use for the new TP-LINK AC1200. The hardware version v3.01. I find it interesting that they brought back it with a newer hardware version.

Refer to TP-Link official website and the product page for the TP-Link AC1200. I got that during installation recently for my other house as well, but not going to use it.

Why? I was planning to flash it to V3 firmware but not sure whether is it worth it.. sweat.gif It seems better than the V1 hardware so why not? It's still a decent access point.
*
It is good, yes, but I prefer to use my own as I like control over my own router, if you know what I mean. I will probably flash the firmware from TP-Link website and see if it can be used as an AP. If I brick it, no worries lol.

Hi, I’m on unifi turbo speed now. Just wondering if anyone have this same problem like me.

Everyday, my house will get disconnected without fail, range from 11.15-11.30pm.. really daily without fail as i have tested this out with ps4.. everyday 11.15-11.30 will dc 1 time (game and party) i have tried both wifi and LAN but still DC...

If anyone have solution or troubleshoot suggestion.. please let me know 🙏

Changed router?

QUOTE(danialefendy @ Mar 4 2019, 01:10 AM)
Is it possible this is caused by my 2nd router? The 2nd router is Tp Link AC1200, wired through LAN and set as access point by giving fixed LAN IP address.

Main router is Tp Link AC2300
*
Most probably. The AC1200 is notorious for issues. Try it with another router or an extender which can be set up as a wired AP.

Nvm, after a few days, I opened up the inside and found out it's using V1 hardware. But the network Switch seems different a little or i think it's the same? Now upgraded using the latest EU firmware. CPU seems very good and usage at 27%. With the 5Ghz beamformin on the router, I'm quite impressed with the performance but not sure it's capable for 300Mbps since some people using the same router throttled at 223Mbps for download. Well, it's an interesting discovery for me hehe.
*
Good find. Will flash latest firmware too lol.

Between Tp-link Archer C9 and D-link DIR-878, which one is better (good performance, stable connection)? Both were within my budget (RM450)

Thanks.

TP-Link C9. If you can top up, get the AC2300.

You have to check on a PC, connected to the router via RJ45 Cat 5e or above, to see if you are getting full speed first. Sounds like your connection is being throttled. Refer to 1st page, 1st post, green text.

Nope, but you could be throttled by the server or by TM themselves.

Lodge a report to unifi regarding not getting my Turboed 500Mbps package.
Technician came over to check.. using my tp link c5v2 router 270Mbps, using his TP Link AC1200 router can get 500Mbps.

To my surprised I am required to purchase that router for about RM200 + RM53 (installation charges). Anyone facing similar scenario before?
*
Should be able to support. I hope you did not pay? You can top up a bit and get the Tenda AC18 already.

QUOTE(pheranchis @ Mar 11 2019, 06:21 PM)
ok someone might have the issue i'm facing now before, but here goes.

was on astro iptv with maxis 10 mbps, which was then terminated.
after around 2 weeks, wanted to apply for unifi/maxis, got told port not available.
asked maxis, why is that, they told me to refer to TM cos they're on TM's fiber.
asked TM to clarify why the port is closed/not available, they keep copypasting bulls**t non-answers, saying coverage has not reached my area (bulls**t cos my neighbour is on unifi).
so it's been 3 months now. more or less given up, at this point i just want to know what happened to the port (which TM refuses to answer). can anyone provide any enlightenment on this? thanks.
*
Someone took your port space. You terminated, and someone who is on the waitlist for an available port probably took it.

if that's the case (which it probably is), why can't TM just tell me outright that the port was taken? and not keep going in circles about coverage, we're looking to expand our infrastructure, and all that bull.
*
Maxis and TM have separate ports availability, so that is probably why.

I have been waiting for Unifi to Turbo upgrade my speed for VIP10 10Mbps to 100Mbps, check online at Unify.my says it was supposed to be done October - December 2018, a check with the TM live chat agent says it is Phase 2 Feb/Mar 2019. Now still 10Mbps...

Now they imposed a 90GB Monthly Download Volume which was previously not there.

What should I do? Should I sign for the RM129 package? The live chat agent says I won't be getting a new router if I sign the package, and no warranty will be given if it fails. Only given to new subscribers only...  confused.gif  huh.gif
*
Just sign up for the new plan, and get your OWN router. It will be better for you. Screw TM's router.

QUOTE(SmokeyTheBear @ Mar 11 2019, 10:48 PM)
Hi, I bought a TP-Link Deco M4 (2 tubes router for mesh network) to replace my old Dlink WBR2300 router from Unifi.

Having trouble setting it up.

I downloaded the Deco app on my mobile, and used it to setup the router, but whenever I reach the step to input the settings for my ISP there is a problem.

I have the correct pppoe username@unifi and password (called 100 to confirm), set VLAN to Unifi, but always no internet connection through the router.

The router's LED will then turn solid red and I can't set it anymore. Need to use a pin to poke the reset hole.

Already tried setting up/resetting several times but the same thing keeps happening!

Also want to ask, the router only has 2 ports, so I cannot connect it to modem, PC and HyppTV at the same time, did I get the wrong router?
It also seems to NOT support HyppTV at the moment from what I read, though firmware update may enable it in the future.

My modem is the Huawei HG8240w from TM, is there a compatibility issue?
*
You should have got the M5. They just recently added support for HyppTV. My bad, the router only has 2 ports, which is auto LAN/WAN sensing? That is just sad. You should have got something like the Tenda AC18, or TP-Link A6 or even A7.

Amy router you recommend for recent wireless standards? My wireless standards knowledge still at abgn. What's new and reasonable priced?
*
Recent would be ax or WiFi 6, but you will need a device that can support it. No point having an AX router, if you don’t have the right devices to utilize it. What is your budget and your current Internet speed?

QUOTE(SmokeyTheBear @ Mar 11 2019, 11:33 PM)
Thanks for the reply.

Managed to get it working. The Android version of the TP-Link Deco app has problems! I borrowed my mum's Apple phone and downloaded the iOS Deco app, managed to get it working instantly.

My budget is around 300~400.
The shopkeeper recommended this to me because I stay in a 2 storey house, he said it would give better Wifi connectivity throughout, and it fit my budget
My connection is 500mbps so he didn't recommened the TP-Link A6 because it is for up to 300mbps only.

Which router would you recommend I change to for 500mbps? I will go to the store tomorrow and try to change this for a different router.
For HyppTV, if I am stuck with this router (only 2 ports), can I use the Set-top Box's Wifi to access HyppTV?
*
If you have a normal 2 storey house, and you really want 500Mbps throughout, you will need several wired AP, and not mesh WiFi. Deco M4 also only supports up to 300Mbps, so not sure what the guy is talking about. You will need at least the TP-Link C9 or A9. I would recommend the C2300, but you might not have the budget for it.

Using STB WiFi is not possible. Best is still wired connection.

Sorry, would like to know how to disable that. sweat.gif
*
Do it from the router. It all depends on what router you have. Log into the router, and find the IPv6 settings and disable it.

Go to a TMPoint or TM agent.

QUOTE(lyc1982 @ Mar 12 2019, 11:19 AM)
that's very very odd...i assume you are on 500Mbps ?

my router is a new asus ac86u, i tested 5Ghz wifi with my iphone 7+ literally next to the router, but only managed to get 300+ / 100 no matter how many times i tried (telekom malaysia or time dotcom as server)
*
That is the limitation of mobile devices. You won’t be able to get higher speeds. It may be possible, but don’t count on it.

QUOTE(superpoh @ Mar 12 2019, 12:25 PM)

I have a question. I can claim RM150 for internet from my company. Currently I subscribed RM139 but I can claim RM79 only because in itemized billing, it stated RM79 for internet + RM60 for Hypptv.

Is it possible to request combine as one item in itemized billing (not seperate internet and tv) ? Or cancel hypptv but remain same price so i can claim full RM139 ?
*
Go to TMPoint and ask. You will get better response there.

*
Probably not. The TM technicians will need to associate the MAC address of the STB box to your account on their system, for you to be able to use it on the STB. I don't think they are doing that anymore.

Hi, I managed to exchange the Deco M4 for something else. I wanted the Archer A7 but they didn't have it.

After looking for some time at what they had, and within budget, I settled on the D-Link Dir 878 (AC1900).

Set it up and it works ok, my PC can get 500 mbps down and 100 mbps up. Wifi is about 67 mbps down and 60 mbps up. Just need the fast connection on my PC, the Wifi speed is more than enough for other users at home.

I set it up using the default firmware but the internet connection was sluggish. I updated to the latest firmware and it fixed the problem.

I could enter VLAN settings in the default firmware and change one port to IPTV for HyppTV. After updating, now the VLAN settings page is empty. HyppTV still works fine. Did the update hide the VLAN settings? Now the VLAN settings page is empty.
It works fine so I could ignore it, but I'm just curious, and would like the control.

For Wifi, should I disable the SmartConnect, so that there is 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands to manually connect to?
*
Yea, that is not too bad. Not too sure why that is though, as I don't use D-Link routers. Yes, you can disable Smart Connect, but if it works for you, don't worry about it unless you want to manually connect to 5GHz for better speed.

How do I check for the sites visited by the users accessing my network, or if it is at all possible? I am using stock Unifi hardwares modem/router
*
Not possible on entry level router. You will need an expensive router for that, or use a Raspberry Pi and install some network monitoring tools on it.

QUOTE(keropi88 @ Mar 16 2019, 06:53 PM)
hi guys i need some help, i searched internet but i think i need the answers for my situation

my plan : UNIFI 100mbps
house : 3 storeys
PC location : 2nd floor

setup
Router at 1st floor : UNIFI D LINK Router (AC1200)
Extender at 2nd Floor : Tp Link RE450  (AC1750 )

After asking UNIFI technician to come, he replaced my Tp LINK C9 router with UNIFI's own DLINK AC 1200 router. I used my iPhone X to connect and it shows 100mbps speedtest , exactly the speed i subscribed

In the second floor my room , i just build a new PC. its a MSI gaming motherboard that comes with a build in wireless AC receive capable of 433mbps. (Specification Page - Intel Wireless AC receiver model 9462 )

the problem is , my PC is connected to the TP LINK extender RE450 , i run speedtest i got like max 50mbps, average 35-40mbps speed

i sit in front of my PC, i use my phone connect to the same extender, i got close to 100 mbps speed, exactly the speed i subscirbed to

so whats the problem ? my build in receiver of motherboard capable of 433mbps but only gets 35mbps ...
initially the technician said the extender might have speed loss, but my phone connected to it no problem it still gives 90-100mbps
what do i need to do ?
Why did you let him change the router to the D-Link router? It is worse than the C9 that you have. Anyway, the 433Mbps is just a theoretical maximum, and you won't ever get that speed. Are you connected to the 2.4GHz or 5GHz? I suggest you read the green text on 1st page, 1st post, to educate yourself in home networking basics.

Guys , I'm having a weird situation with my connection. Having Unifi 800mbps connection,  using Asus rt 55uhp with my Huawei btu.both are placed on 1st floor.. Able to clock full speed on my desktop which is co , nnected via cat 7 cable ..my sharp Android TV  which supports AC wifi , able to clock 115 - 120 Mbps when perform speed test.  Netflix on my TV  is playing fine..it require around 10 seconds max to load the full quality....

My other streaming apps like hotstar and Kodi do buffers  a little ..

So I'm thinking if I should upgrade to a better router or 100 + Mbps is good enough for the streaming..

Need your input on this..

Btw I tested the same apps using my OnePlus 6t hotspot.. Android TV connected to OnePlus 6t hotspot , I noticed the performance is slight better
*
Please refer to 1st page, 1st post, green text, for list of recommended routers for your speed. It is actually enough for the streaming, but your router does not support 800Mbps over wifi. That doesn't really matter actually, as you will need a client that can support 4x4 MIMO. Up to you if you want to change.
