Last week my BTU (located in my living room) + L7 NR2000 router (located in my room) after 7year usage finally spoil. Call TM and they replace a new modem router all in 1 Netis DL4480V1. Since my house is high-rise with copper wired that is the best they can give. Is it true? Because my room is abit far from my living room wifi 2.4ghz signal abit weak. Can i configure the Netis as BTU and add-on a new wifi router?
*
Nope, but you can consider mesh WiFi which you can set as WAPs to improve your wireless coverage. Yes, it is true. You have to wait for them to upgrade the fibre or get TIME if they become available someday.

Saw your review on Xiaomi wireless router pro

the one you testing in china version? can it support IPTV?
*
Nope. It will need a smart switch as it does not support VLAN tagging.

Go directly to TMPoint and complain and get someone to see your case immediately.

Upload: 49.35Mbps then fluctuate to 35.25Mbps

Mainly wifi user.

Definitely line issue right?
*
5GHz AC? Try setting to lower channel such as Ch.36.

QUOTE(lattemild @ Feb 12 2019, 09:32 PM)
Hi everyone,

Two questions to ask about the TPLink C3150 router:-

1. I have enabled smart connect in the router configuration page. Did that also remove the 2.4Ghz SSID from the network broadcast list? I only see the 5Ghz SSID.

2. In adapter settings, under IPv4 internet connectivity, I see "Internet". Under IPv6 internet connectivity, it says "no network access" . Should I do something to rectify the situation?

3. Despite the above, my internet connection is very good. I'm on the 800MBps package.

Much appreciate some help here...thank you...
*
1. Yes. Smart connect combines both the SSID of 2.4GHz and 5GHz and it gives the router the power to select which is better for your devices.

2. Nope. You don't need IPv6 for now, and it won't affect anything.

QUOTE(xjoshualaw29 @ Feb 12 2019, 09:34 PM)
Yes. It was configured to Ch. 48.

Same thing with wired connection?

oh, doesn't work. not surprised. they asked us to call 100 (which is what we did everyday) and told us to go to another "main" TMPoint which is even further from our home. service at its best.
*
Yes, some TMPoint are not really TMPoint, but just a reseller. Those people are hopeless.

are you using maxis? tomorrow is my last straw. I'd give 500Mbps up for a good 100Mbps connection quality.
*
If it is a line issue, Maxis will need to liaise with TM to fix the problem, so you might still need to wait.

QUOTE(imcrazyz @ Feb 13 2019, 09:50 PM)
Hey thanks for your reply. My current Unifi plan is VIP 10. I'm living at highrise, using VDSL2.

I applied for TM turbo upgrade (100Mbps) twice. First time was at TMPoint Kepong, I filled up the blue form to request for upgrade, everything is done over the counter. They told me to restart modem on that evening itself (28/1/2019) and I should get around 30Mbps. I did as per instruction, but not OK, the speed is still 10Mbps.

I suspect it is modem and router can't support the 100Mbps, so I requested for upgrade again. Just today, a TM technician changed my modem& router. Everything is OK, even the TM technician confirmed that this modem&router can support up to 100Mbps.

But the Unifi plan is still at VIP 10 (I checked via my account @ unifi.com.my.  I don't know why they still haven't upgrade for me even after installation of modem&router. The TM technician also didn't know what to do at that moment, so he asked me to call 100.

So I called 100 (option 4) to query. After verification of my account, they asked me bunch of questions on the terms and conditions whereby I need to agree (setuju) to them, and I did. Afterwards, the person just ended the call.

What now?? I don't get it. Why a simple turbo upgrade needs me to wait.. I just need to switch that plan to 100Mbps and get the TV Box, that's all I need...
*
Your high-rise probably won't support 100Mbps. Not sure why they even gave you the option to upgrade to 100Mbps instead of just telling you that your high-rise can't support the speed.

I suggest changing router. That router is old. It also does not support 5GHz AC.

And my speed is capped at 95mbps, is this consider normal? Its in an apartment btw.
*
Yes. Didn’t you know that? 95Mbps is to be expected, give or take. Try using Cat 6 or wired and 5GHz AC 40 or even 80MHz if you can, and see if that makes a difference.

SOP i think, for mine the generator-like room is located at every floor's middle part. I think its an "extension" from the main ports. Im not sure, i just learnt how they all do wiring and networking, really pro.
*
The 'generator-like room' is the IDF, or Intermediate Distribution Frame, compared to the MDF, or Main Distribution Frame, which is located somewhere in your building or around the vicinity of your building. See here for a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9bT_hmWfHA

it's not the line problem since my neighbour has a stable connection from maxis fibre.

and going to the main TMPoint worked. I went there and complained about the technical report and about how incompetent they are. they immediately escalated the issue and fixed it this evening.
*
Yes, figures. You need to go to the main TMPoint and the proper one, not some reseller which is branded as TMPoint.

Just spoke to customer service. Recently downgrade to 100mb plan but still using Innacom RG4332 router and Alcatel lucent I-240G-T modem, am I eligible for changing router?

After testing with wired connection, it came out to be 85mbps download and 50 mbps upload and the customer service told me that there is nothing wrong with my router and can support up to 300mbps. How to argue?
*
Just change router if you want to. I suggest changing to your own router, rather than getting their model.

Dug out a few old routers to see how they fare with UniFi Turbo 800Mbps.

First one is Mikrotik RB750GL from 2011.
RouterOS 6.43.12
Fasttrack ON
CPU Usage: ~80%

Next is Asus RT-N16 from dunno which year.
Tomato 1.28.0000 MIPSR2-3.5-140 K26 USB AIO
BCM_NAT: ON

Not sure if this is the best firmware for the Asus.

DLink DIR-615 I tested before with Turbo 500Mbps.

Limited by 100Mbps ethernet ports

All tests on Gigabit LAN. speedtest.net server is Telekom Malaysia.

No surprises there. Good job.

Hi guys, just to update regarding my problem previously. TM come to my house and change my router that support 800mbps, in exchange of extend my contract for 1 year.

Now the problem is, when they used their laptop direct lan to my router, they can get 800mbps, but my desktop only manage to get to 5++. They have check my network card able to support 1gbps. they told me that probably because of my antivirus ? which I only use windows security. anyone know how to achieve 800mbps
*
Speedtest with Firefox or Edge. Try speedtest in safe mode with networking as well. It is probably throttled by the Spectre or Meltdown patch.

Thanks to all that help me few days ago regarding my problems.

Took SilentVampire recommendation and changed my router to AC3150 and adapter to T9UH. Tested both with cat5e that came with router and cat6 and there are no significant differences (from BTU to router).

user posted image

Tested last night and got 460mbps. Still wait for my 10 meters cat6 to arrive to see the speed with cable.

Setting the router is really breeze and easy at least for a man like me that not so expert in this things. And if my last adapter only gave me 2 bars of wireless coverage, this T9UH give me full bars! Impressive the fact that my pc to my router is blocked my walls

Edited: Test again just now and got this.

GET YOUR OWN. I can’t emphasize the enough.

if I am a new user, how can I subscribe to 300,500 or 800 Mbps unifi plan?

Not available. Even if it is available, you will need a router that can support that speed.

Anyone experiencing intermittent Unifi downtime in Kepong/KL area?

It has been happening since yesterday when they did some maintenance to upgrade the DNS

I also can not access HyppTV IPTV.

Check your router, and change to Google DNS. VLAN tagged correctly for HyppTV?

Is it possible to tag the VLAN manually? Tag VLAN600 for the port that is connected to the HyppTV, and you should be fine.

QUOTE(stormsea7 @ Feb 16 2019, 03:09 PM)
I think I managed to isolate the problem

I had no connection the entire morning
everytime i restart the modem & router, the internet came back for 2-3min, then go down again
I tried accessing the router setting page via ethernet cable and the page won't even load.

So now, I disconnected the ethernet cable from router to powerline
(my configuration, router -> powerline -> powerline -> HyppTV STB)

so far, my wifi is back
i will continue to monitor to see if it's stable.

but i'm not sure how did that effect the internet
btw, the issue started a day after i started using the powerline
the first day was running fine, the next day the issue started
*
That's weird. Probably some interference issues or router is overloaded with the powerline plugged into it.

Sounds like a NTP issue. Are you using the new box or old box?
