Managed to tag along with Jason and we got our USJ Express Tickets with 20% discount. rclxm9.gif

I guess I have pre-purchased whatever I can. Other stuff can only buy when I'm in Japan.

Anyway, friend wants to try out kimono, anybody tried out with any of the Klook's rental services? In Kyoto if possible.
*
In Kyoto, you should go for the full geisha experience rclxms.gif

sweat.gif That's a bit too much.
I'm not so a girlish type.. I'm thinking to skip kimono, but she insists. laugh.gif

Haha, no offense to RegentCid, just curious about it.

I see, I see. Well take it this way, if you ever have to go for a proper kimono experience once in ur life, there is none other than Kyoto to do it. Tho I read it can be uncomfortable for some women who are not used to constricting clothes.

Yeah. USJ is one of the main attraction in Osaka. Personally I still prefer Disneyland and DisneySea over USJ anytime.
*
Speaking of which, why are these promos focus on USJ? Disneyland& Sea don't have? Or Disney don't allow 3rd parties?

You can buy from KKDay or Klook or Disney themselves. Not much difference in price. The crowds are really crazy in Disneyland, everyday. Even before the park opens, you can see scores of people queing up line by line (with tickets) outside already.
*
Yeah that's what I meant. Even at travel sites like Klook or what, doesn't seem to have crazy discounts or something, like for USJ.

But crowds like this? Everyday? Wow.

can I purchase 10 suica cards for myself alone? I don't want to top up 10k yen. better purchase 10 cards
*
Won't you have less flexibility on the charge usage? Like if you spent 800 yen on each card, you won't be able to use much of their remaining credit per card but in fact you have a total of 2000 yen remaining. Unless ur buying it for tour group or something.

As for itinerary, try get a rough idea of how much time you want to spend on each location then chain it for ur whole day agenda. Best to minimise travel time between sites.

Tokyo and Japan don't really have good "street food" in the way Seoul or Bangkok or Malaysia does ba. Anyway in Japan walking and eating is not encouraged 😂

For lively place to stay, Akihabara, Shinjuku, Shibuya area lo. But for me my fav place to stay is Kanda lol. Maybe cos old liao.
*
If want street food, can go to Fukuoka for their yatai food stalls culture.

Just got back from Nagasaki ahead of typhoon Hagibis approaching. That time last week was worried typhoon Mitag was heading towards Kyushu but it veered off to Korea instead, so I had 1+ week of clear weather with certain days a few hours of rain. Interestingly while Mitag didn't hit Nagasaki, during the closest approach, it was hot like Malaysian weather (27-28 C). Earlier of the week, it cooled off but now weather forecast is getting hotter again.

As to fruities request, here is status of the main Glover house

BTW, you can get Inasa ropeway ticket at the Info Counter at JR Nagasaki(same place get 500yen all day tram pass), it only cost 1000yen per pax so saving 250yen per head but it cannot be refunded so buy it when you intend to get up there (counter closes at 8pm).

Thank you to all the advices given here by fruitie and other forumers. Really helped a lot on my trip there.

Just came back from there late this week actually. I see. I thought you haven't gone yet. laugh.gif

OK la, maybe I can skip Glover House since under renovation?

Thanks for the tips for Inasa Ropeway, cheaper than using the discount voucher downloaded from their website.
*
Well depends. The rest of the other 'houses' are still open for display, you can still rent to cosplay with European period clothing, can still have teatime at Jiyu-tei, you still get a lot of scenery around the area. So it depends, its like the main roller coaster in a themepark is closed but the rest are still open. If ur okay with that, really go for it.

Yup. Was buying the 500yen pass, when the counter staff mentioned they also sell ropeway ticket at cheaper price. I was planning to ride the bus from JR Nagasaki to Ropeway so it was convenient for me to comeback in the afternoon and buy them.

Oh and thanks for the advice on souvenirs from Nagasaki. Got myself a small Vidro vase/ornament. biggrin.gif

Cool, then I may not skip this place. biggrin.gif It's nearby to my hotel, so I may walk there to check it out.

Talking about the 500 yen pass, can I buy in advance, like today buy for tomorrow? Or I have to drop by everyday to buy?
*
Have to buy on that day itself, but their counter opens quite early about 6(?)-7am so it was no problem for me as I was based across the road from JR Nagasaki.

If ur from Glover area, I recall seeing one these 2 shops got sell the 500yen day pass, not sure if they also sold the 1,000yen Ropeway ticket or not tho

Another thing, can I ask ur help to translate these omikuji? Google translate failed me. haha!

I wanted to stay near JR Nagasaki too but couldn't get any room. sad.gif
Now I'm thinking how to go out to buy before riding on the tram, hopefully hotel will sell..

He is back already.. I think many knows Japanese here, ask those here.
Oh? Not far?
Not everyone likes Osaka and it is just a city like mini Tokyo. I have bought the Amazing Pass too.
I personally prefer Kyoto and I think many will feel the same too.
*
You can try the 2 shops I pointed out. They're just down the road from ANA Crowne Plaza Gloverhill Hotel heading towards Oura tram stop.

Will ask the senpais here for the translation. Thanks.

But I don't think my hotel is nearby there. laugh.gif I need to ride on tram to get to my hotel from JR Nagasaki.
Anyway, thanks for the tips. I will look for them.

Oh I see. I thought you mentioned Glover is within walking distance from ur hotel.

Otherwise you can pay the 130 yen to JR Nagasaki and then get the one day pass from there to travel further.

nope
1. the pass itself is not cheap
2. i got no time to pick it up
3. cannot fully utilize the pass(go to so many places)

u need to spend more days in kyoto, like 4 days...there are alot more things to visit in kyoto than osaka
not just not far
once u arrived at JR arashiyama station, the sagano station is just beside actually(based on google maps)

on the side note, wanna ask something...for those who know japan kit kat well
why the same flavour have packet and box version
the packet version is only sold like 2XX-3XX yen while the box type is fixed 800 yen for all?
any difference between them?
*
Are you sure its the same flavour? The ones I saw in boxes are super premium varieties like sake flavour. I didn't even bother becoz its way above what I willing to pay for kitkat regardless of taste. Std flavours sold in packet for btwn 180-230 yen, premium ones can go up to 290yen per packet. Mind you, even for same chain outlet, the prices can vary.

P.S I forgot that there might be special limited edition print boxes with std flavours. You might be referring to that. These are time limited ones, so it may interest collectors or something, hence the price premium.

yes..same flavour...can refer pic below
i saw apple flavour got box and packet as well
some place sold packet, some place sold only box
each place i go,  they have their own unique kit kat flavour...can't buy it all laugh.gif
nara itself is very big
and plenty of shopping street in between that u can walk
it will took half of your day
when i'm on my fushimi inari >> uji >> nara day trip
i had to forego uji because scared can't make it and i was right...i left nara at 4.30PM at the end of the day
*
As written on the box, that is a Kyoto Souvenir special edition. You probably can't get that anywhere outside Kyoto. And also more qty (12 vs 9pcs). Other than that its just a tourist trap. Where I went, the kitkats there aren't so touristy so most comes in packets like in ur pic. Those in boxed are really premium for a reason.
But hey, nothing screams "I was in Kyoto" like giving a Kyoto edition boxed kitkat.

Hopefully no one is/was going over to Nagano. The aftermath of the typhoon was really really bad, and still being felt in some areas. I pray they can rebuild soon as that is my preferred next destination when visit to Japan again.
