You cannot hike Mt Fuji without Guide plus it also need advance booking for slot.
2 day 1 night to reach the peak. Upper station got small inn for overnight.
If I remember correctly, Hiking Mt Fuji cost me nearly 300k Yen.

I suggest you conquer Mt Kinabalu first before Hike Mt Fuji

Without English GPS, stock GPS will be fully Japanese only...no English on setting.
If you dunno any Japanese, then you had to pay extra 1k.

That pass is for unreserved seating only, in the event that some trains do not have unreserved car, additional charges may apply

Hiroshima is lovely, only stayed a night, would love to go there again someday laugh.gif

Rapid train just abit faster than normal commuter train. It skip some staion.
The price still the same as normal commuter train.
This kind of train similar to our KTM commuter, no seat reservation biggrin.gif

Limited Express are like our ETS Train. It got reserve seat and non reserve seat. ( If you got JR Rail passes, seat reservation already covered)

Look like alot people still dunno Japanese train classes.

Local Train (Similar to our KTM commuter)
Stop every station. Seat first come first serve system. Train Operating speed 80km/h
Covered by JR Rail Passes

Rapid Train (Similar to our KTM commuter)
Rapid trains skip some stations. There is no difference in the ticket price between local and rapid trains.
Seat first come first serve system. Train Operating speed 80km/h
Covered by JR Rail Passes

Express Train (Similar to our KTM commuter)
Express trains stop at even fewer stations than rapid trains. There is generally no difference in the ticket price between local and express trains. Seat first come first serve system. Train Operating speed 80km/h
Covered by JR Rail Passes

Limited Express (Similar to our KTM ETS Commuter)
Stop only Major Station. Ticket price cost 2000-4000 Yen extra from local train. Seat are divided into 3 classes which is Green Class (1st Class), Normal reserve seat (Another extra paying for seat number similar to AirAsia), Unreserved seat which is come first serve system. Train Operating speed 120km/h
Reserve Seat are covered by JR Rail Passes

For Green Class can used JR Rail Pass + Top up or Green Class JR Rail Pass

Same management as Tokyo Imperial Palace? If ya, maybe got on-site first-come-first-serve tickets?

Didn't book online for Tokyo Imperial Palace free tour last year coz was a last minute decision; instead went early in the morning, queue up before the 9am ticket reservation open (they reserve more tickets for on-site instead of online), took the queue ticket, came back a while later for the intended slot booking with English speaking tour guide. Managed to get a slot. Inside they split into several groups again (Chinese language tour guide, English, & Japanese).

So, google online, see if can do that with Shugakuin Imperial Villa as well?

Hey guys,

My friends and I will go to Japan this January, our plane will arrive at 10:30 pm, after maybe some minor delays + customs, will probably get out from airport at 12 am-midnight or maybe more.

Is there any train operating at this hour? From my understanding, most trains will be off by midnight.

I see... thanks for the info. For this English GPS, do we need to pre-book it or we can order on-the-spot when I pick up the car?

Any recommendation for Sapporo ? Will be heading there in December, staying in Club Med for skiing then few days in Sapporo city. Basically have sorted out the logistics. Any other recommendations like shoppings, eateries, sight-seeing would be much appreciated. Still debating if i should take a train ride to Otaru, as i have only 1 full free day to spare after the ski resort. If i go it would be for seafood, but i feel i can get the same in Sapporo, maybe city prices.
