suddenly found an option to flash sdcard/usb storage as internal , so i plug in my old SSD 128gb that eat dust a while to tx3 mini and format it as internal storage, it does boost the performance of the tv box as the interface feel so smooth...

Yet, i found that there is problem when i wanna shutdown the tx3 mini.. it stuck at shutdown loop and unable to turn off...

any sifu here can guide me what is the solution?
i end up just unplug the ssd and use back the internal storage 16gb
*
adopting ext storage as internal may not be so straightforward.

the firmware need to be able to have that feature.... and i dun think this box has it.

likely to get strange I/O issues.

By the way, is this new AstroGo app v 2.192 still in beta phase?

Seems to me all the updates are all v2.192 with just different build. So I presume the whole system is still very much in beta phase. I have a funny feeling this app has HDMI detection built in and others, just not activated yet until the real release.

All the different builds merely to address bugs but more importantly to test out security measures and to counter potential hacks on the app Ultimately Astro goal is to hamper it being used on TV.

I highly doubt, Astro will allow One Astro Account and have 5 house hold using it (1 Decoder + 4 AstroGo)

it is official... it is in google playstore.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...tro.astro&hl=en

but only mobile and certain boxes can install/update direct on playstore.
others need to sideload:
https://apkpure.com/astro-go-watch-tv-shows...com.astro.astro

for the time being, the max 4 devices seems to be "loose"... if u install on pc or use old v8.2.6, these seem not to count towards the regular 4!

Just got my TX3 Mini Android 8.1. Hope someone can help me get my unifi play tv going. I'm able to run the app and even successfully login, however when i click on WATCH or watch now it won't run and i get an error message saying something wrong with the device (111).

read last few pages... a lot discussed... in summary:

older batch of tx3mini is android7 with option to close root.
new batche is android8, no option to close root.
closing root is required to run unifi playtv or astrogo apps.
closing root with superSU or others can be tricky, can brick yr box, so do be careful.

there are sellers now offering a choice of android7 or 8, read back.

Yes I have read /followed from the first page, but a little confused. I bought from the seller who promised that the device is unrooted and can run both Aotg and playtv. BTW how to check if device is rooted and unrooted? (another confusing term, all the while I thought our smartphones are unrooted and that you need to root it to run certain app. But now it seems the reverse).

Hi Guys, again Newbies asking question. So to install this AOTG and HyppTv need to purchase that in 7.1.2 version and need to unroot by ourselves, then download both apk to install. I have few questions:

1. For AOTG some have shared the apk file or may can be downloaded thru play store, but for HyppTv?
2. When installed Hypptv, what need to do? Or can straight away play, need any account like AOTG too?
3. If I bought other android box i.e. T9 Tv box, does the box have to be in 7.1.2 version also or this only applicable for this Tx3 for me to run Hypptv and AOTG smoothly? - Well, I’m planning to buy T9 since have a better memory (4GB) with affordable price

check with yr seller - either is not actually unrooted or unrooting failed or incomplete.
then again, if seller is not local, never used playtv or astrogo, he may not understand the problem.
i do not know enough of this tx3 mini android8 firmware, can't comment more.
like another user, u can try to sell off this one and buy another android7 - it's only rm105.
pls, pls, read back - al ot has been said, useful info.

this box firmware, like many others, is not compatible with the app, u won't find in playstore.
there are only a few that can do that, just like u can get direct with mobile phones and tablets.
u need to sideload this:

1. astrogo, read above.
2. playtv... yes, u need account, i.e. ID/PW from existing user.
use current 7.9.8 tablet/PAD version.
https://www.apkmonk.com/app/com.huawei.pad.tm/
3. it is not about android7 or 8 - that is specific to TX3 mini.
"T9"... there are T9, TX9, TX9pro, T9xxx... which one?
generally, for playtv and astrogo to work, the box must be android5 or higher, unrooted. some boxes still dun work... maybe very poor firmware.

I remember 4 years ago, when I wanted to invest in an android box, I read so much in Lowyat.net but I still couldn't find myself paying over RM700 for it and its accessories. Totally newbie like yourself, I kept reading and reading. Over 100 pages of postings by experts like AVFAN, voncrane, OCMAX, Wacky-Angel, GuyM, Andrewtst, fruitie and other experts to name a few. I put it aside, and came back 1 year later, and re-read again from page 1 to over 180 pages.. and continue to over 200 pages. After 200 pages of reading, and I am still lost.

Another year later, came back to Version 2 of that thread, and the same response by others

"PLEASE READ THE FIRST 20 pages of this THREAD".

At that point in time, there were so much technical unrelevant information that a newbie would be overwhelmed just reading the first few pages. I got so upset, I left and revisited again last year. Read over 120 pages of Ver 2 of that thread, and I was even more confused. I took only 3 things out from all those comments - Mibox MDZ16AB, Mecool M8S Pro L, and Tx3 Mini.

Downloaded Shopee app, and jump in to ask Sellers instead who can help me in my predicament. I just didn't want to ask for help in here. Met the Shopee seller linglang.my selling Tx3 mini with the lowest price in the whole of Shopee, and the rest is history.

I have been a newbie before, and I can understand the frustrations of making a decision to buy an android box, and which one to buy. It is so much more difficult because we as newbies have never seen how the Android box works. It is not like friends bring out an Android box during mamak/"bubble tea" session to show us how it works.

That was why I made a decision to go for a cheap box to gather experience, and try to find a very supportive seller who is willing to go all out to TEACH and GUIDE me. I certainly found this seller in Shopee, and I never looked back since. TX3 Mini 2GB is still my daily driver watching Unifi, iflix, dimsum, AstroGo, Twitch, Youtube, Viu and all the hundreds of Streaming apps I have tested. Did I pay anything to watch them??

ZILTCH, Nada, ZERO, NOTHING - I didn't pay a single cent extra after buying the Tx3 and Airmouse. I just read a lot from various sources.

Been almost 10 months, every day average 5-8 hours operating, and I have not done a factory reset on my Tx3 Mini.

This thread is now 20 pages long, I won't ask any person to read all 20 pages. I have been in their shoes, and I don't enjoy the experience.

Instead, I will try to gather all the possible newbie questions, and do a FAQ.
Not just any FAQ, but FAQ with 1 line Answers. Short, concise and only important info. Consider it a community service for the contributions by previous experts before me.

If time permits, I will also address the boxes that "supposedly" comes with lifetime IPTV, and
"supposedly" certified and approved by SIRIM and MCMC.

EVPAD, Unblock Tech.. and things like this didn't start recently, they have been around since the day I started reading about android boxes. Only recently we see a surge in a variety of supposedly certified boxes.

I am aware of the "loose" restrictions on V8.2.6. That is also another reason why I posted the question..
" is this new AstroGo app still in beta phase, per say"

Quite possibly come September when LG TV stops supporting AstroGo, maybe then we will enter the official phase, which I highly suspect the death of v8.2.6.

It has been highlighted many times by others, only current paying Astro Decoder subscribers can enjoy AstroGo, the rest would have to migrate to NJOI if the wordings in the AstroGo
beta app is to go by during the initial testing weeks.

And I still hold firm to my prediction that, this new AstroGo has HDMI detection and maybe a few others to hamper it being used with TV.

that thread... first pages are out of date, not updated, not that useful anymore.

for simple use, tx3mini is superb but is a unique case... there is no other box at the price with same capabilities.

but it can't do certain more advanced tasks like playback of large video files, bluray menus, auto frame rate switching, lossless audio (for home theater), LAN networking/file transfer.

for such purposes, u do need to spend >rm500. of course, not everyone need that...

This is a very common issue with using free apps downloaded from the internet and not from Google Playstore. Most of them do not auto-update, and requires manual updating upon app startup or via sideloading (i.e. install from USB pendrive).

I started with a totally empty Tx3, no pre-install apps of anything from the seller. I install one app at a time, and thoroughly test them and their settings and also see how it interacts with my Tx3. How much RAM it uses, how often it startsup on its own, does it stay in the background all the time, does it have overlay permissions (i.e. displaying its content on top of other apps). Even the Tx3 with its original default app (Airscreen) which I rarely use, I changed its settings or better still uninstall it all together. I try avoiding going into Developer Mode and tinkerwith the developer settings. Lots of settings, require full understanding, so might as well just leave it as default.

So, I am able to identify rouge apps, or apps that require fine tuning in its setting to make sure my Tx3 performs at its fullest. Remember these apps are designed for mobile phone usage, the developer never fine tune the coding for Android boxes. So a good performing app that works well in a mobile phone Android 7/8/9 may not be 100% good with Tx3 using Android 7.

A lot of times, buyers prefer buying from sellers with FULLY LOADED Boxes ( i.e. pre-install lots of free apps from internet for TV streaming etc etc). After some time not using the box, these apps require update and some totally no longer work as intended.

That is where, IPTV sellers (ahem ahem, .. we shall not discuss them in this thread) comes in to the picture. These sellers are selling a "CONVENIENCE" to buyers. That is all. As the contents are freely available on the net, it only takes effort and time to find them, and most importantly keep them updated.

That is the reason why, I never have any need to fork out a cent to watch any Streaming, be it VOD, NEWS Channel, Live TV or Live Sports.

Anyway, I have been truly converted from a newbie to a hobbiest/enthusiast since playing with the Tx3. I enjoy reading and finding out the free stuff, and not so much watching and utilizing them. At the end of the day, Youtube (Smart and Vance) is still the app I open the most times. Others say they use KODI 100% of the time, I avoid KODI totally. The trend is very much moving away from KODI to individual apps. TWO primary reason, UPdating/installation hassle and not senior citizen(non-IT) friendly. Don't be mistaken, Tx3 can run Kodi 16/17 just fine if you don't have lots of other apps installed. But Tx3 1GB box not recommended to use Kodi.

your Tx3 is okay, only need time and dedication to keep the apps updated.
Try google for "FILELINKED", and "FILELINKED CODES"

Let it be known, that whatever Astro intends to do to hamper misuse of their AstroGo Apps, the situation is nothing new.

In US and EU, lots of Satellite providers have done all sorts of coding in their app to make it as tough as possible to use their Android Mobile apps on Android Boxes.

The modders and hackers, are always one step ahead of them. I don't doubt AstroGo will continue to thrive in Android Boxes (maybe limited to some boxes with the proper hardware like our beloved Tx3 mini Android 7 withe AstroGo version 8.2.4, 8.2.6 and latest 2.192)
