LoL... You seems to have personal vendetta on the seller over perhaps a faulty $20 adapter...

Sad day indeed, I have to let go of Vanced Youtube (adfree)

Once crash too many with my Tx3 in recent weeks. Happening more and more often with video discoloration and immediate crash plus auto reset the Tx3. Worsts yet, even after auto restart, the Tx3 Oranth Homepage is corrupted by the crash and had to manually restart the Tx3 again to get the IR remote control to work again.

Once my favourite Youtube app with Mx3 Air mouse, now I have to stick with just Smart Youtube which has weekly updates. I don't believe Vanced has been updated since May 2019.

I wonder if the Rooted Version of Vanced Youtube will be better or not?

I loved Vanced, as it does not have ads and allows me to read comments as it is a mod of the official Youtube mobile version.

It depends on the firmware I guess. My "old" TX3 mini got bluetooth with the 8.1 firmware. The new one I haven't test yet, but I suspect it doesn't have the support since all the firmware that the seller try to send have "no bluetooth" as a part of their naming. LOL

This is a very common issue with using free apps downloaded from the internet and not from Google Playstore. Most of them do not auto-update, and requires manual updating upon app startup or via sideloading (i.e. install from USB pendrive).

I started with a totally empty Tx3, no pre-install apps of anything from the seller.  I install one app at a time, and thoroughly test them and their settings and also see how it interacts with my Tx3. How much RAM it uses, how often it startsup on its own, does it stay in the background all the time, does it have overlay permissions (i.e. displaying its content on top of other apps). Even the Tx3 with its original default app (Airscreen) which I rarely use, I changed its settings or better still uninstall it all together. I try avoiding going into Developer Mode and tinkerwith the developer settings. Lots of settings, require full understanding, so might as well just leave it as default.

So, I am able to identify rouge apps, or apps that require fine tuning in its setting to make sure my Tx3 performs at its fullest. Remember these apps are designed for mobile phone usage, the developer never fine tune the coding for Android boxes. So a good performing app that works well in a mobile phone Android 7/8/9 may not be 100% good with Tx3 using Android 7.

A lot of times, buyers prefer buying from sellers with FULLY LOADED Boxes ( i.e. pre-install lots of free apps from internet for TV streaming etc etc). After some time not using the box, these apps require update and some totally no longer work as intended.

That is where, IPTV sellers (ahem ahem, .. we shall not discuss them in this thread) comes in to the picture. These sellers are selling a "CONVENIENCE" to buyers. That is all. As the contents are freely available on the net, it only takes effort and time to find them, and most importantly keep them updated.

That is the reason why, I never have any need to fork out a cent to watch any Streaming, be it VOD, NEWS Channel,  Live TV or Live Sports.

Anyway, I have been truly converted from a newbie to a hobbiest/enthusiast since playing with the Tx3. I enjoy reading and finding out the free stuff, and not so much watching and utilizing them. At the end of the day, Youtube  (Smart and Vance)  is still the app I open the most times. Others say they use KODI 100% of the time, I avoid KODI totally. The trend is very much moving away from KODI to individual apps. TWO primary reason, UPdating/installation hassle and not senior citizen(non-IT) friendly. Don't be mistaken, Tx3 can run Kodi 16/17  just fine if you don't have lots of  other apps installed. But Tx3 1GB box not recommended to use Kodi.

your Tx3 is okay, only need time and dedication to keep the apps updated.
Try google for "FILELINKED", and "FILELINKED CODES"

Tanix TX3 mini Android 7.1.2
1. Flash it with Tanix TX3 Max firmware 20180321.
I found it more stable than original firmware.
2. Install Root Explorer
3. Delete these files.
a) etc/root_access
b) system/xbin/root_access.sh
c) system/xbin/su
d) system/xbin/sud
e) system/bin/su

Fully unroot. This method works with normal, Alice UX and atvXperience firmware. No need close root.

playtv@unifi works, except AOTG must used moded 8.2.6 version.

Normal firmware causing iflix live channels crash when full screen, HBO GO Malaysia lag and subtitles not showing and DIRECTV lag. I had tried atvXperience firmware but still found Tanix TX3 Max firmware is the best.

what reason(s) u hv for NOT closing the root if the option is there, easy to use?

astrogo - v8.2.6 will likely die on 30 sep as they take it off smart TV's.

so, u gotta use the new version, official one, which works well if u close root.

All credits to Greg Choo (FB - Yong Choo). Very advance stuff, not for newbies to tinker with.

Already mentioned in the Kodi thread in this forum, people should read this, the readme of the plugin author to avoid getting disappointed after all the effort :-

https://github.com/CastagnaIT/plugin.video....aster/README.md

To summarize for the readers :-

1. The youtuber Wukung was able to get 1080p or higher was due to him using Beelink GT king - which is a DRM L1 device with lots of CPU juices.

2. Anybody else using non-L1 device might be disappointed that the video might not reach 1080p and due to non-widevine L1 and stutter video software DRM decoding on non-Android platform.

3. Going LibreElec or CoreElec offers no advantage compare to Kodi, because plugin is only supporting hardware decoding in android platform.

I found the close root doesn't work well for playtv@unifi. Sometimes a few channels won't play. That's why I permanent unroot it.

Yeah 'close root' probably isn't good enough to hide the root from playtv. Playtv is super paranoid and exhaustive.

Since you have permanently unroot, were there still problems with AstroGo new version ?

You actually also need to delete SuperSU apk from everywhere in the storage, many apps also consider SuperSU apk as root.

Use official AOTG new version also no issue. I didn't delete supersu apk because I found everything just works.

That is not what root is all about.

Root is just Superuser. Rooted mean superuser is present. Unrooted means superuser is not present.

Some apps need superuser to be present to work. Some apps are scare of superuser to be present, because they worry you copy the video or some sensitive information out of the computer/phone/TV.

So rooted or unrooted they use the same play store, but the same play store opens or closes certain doors/windows for you be able to see and download and install different apps.

Video/bank apps are particularly scare of root to be present.

Two things you have to keep in mind to operate playtv@unifi
1) Keep android Wifi setting enabled even if you are using Lan
2) Never ever change the root setting again, there is a chance paytv@unifi run in the background and detect box is rooted, and raised a PERMANENT RED FLAG. You can change the root setting, and playtv@unifi will only show TV1 and TV2 as others are blocked due to Root detected flag.

To clear the Flag, you need to clear all data and cache of playTV.
Set root to close, and login to the playtv@unifi again.
And never open it again if you don't intend to repeat the whole clear data/cache - Login again.

Other wise if you insists you need the Root Opened for other purposes i.e copy files from internal storage to SD card..
then consider installing an older version Modified playTV@unifi app.

there is a new astrogo apk dated 5 sep 2019:

v2.193.2/AC19.3.2/0163930

get it here to update.
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/astro-malaysi...163930-release/

this new release supposedly allows decoder users to record shows on cloud storage, then access with astro go anywhere.

works fine on tx3mini, tx5max.
