Just got my tanid tx3 rclxm9.gif
Silly question here. Can I plug in 3.5mm, normal earphones to the back the box?

And just checking. What apps/method you guys use for auto shutdown? Would like to set some sort of timer so kids won't throw tantrum if it off automatically instead of me doing it.
*
tx3 s905x3:

if i remember correctly, that jack is a 3.5mm earphone jack, should work, try it.
auto shutdown - no such feature.
but u can activate and set a screen saver - in settings, i think.

i read on earlier post on this thread a lot of Tx3 recommendation on shopee sellers here but lots of them are SOLD OUT. I just terninated my Astro and planning to get a TVbox... my 1st. Can anyone recommend me a good TVbox and seller's link? Also, do I need to do any set up to use it or its just plug and play? Most important, I want live football.

i recommend 4+32gb.
no, it is not plug n play.

chat with seller, ask for help before u buy.

This is considered perfectly legal right? Any issues with MCMC using this box?
*
the box is empty originally, has only the firmware and some utility apps.
if u buy it like that, it is surely legal.
but if u buy a box where the seller put in illegal apps, incl paid (by you) ones, that wud be considered illegal.
like yr phone, u buy empty, legal.
if u buy it with porn n pirated stuff inside, surely illegal.

it means the box came w/o the mentioned apps installed.

diff apps do diff things.
if u hv astrogo id/pw, install this apk:

The threads are in either this section or these:

https://forum.lowyat.net/HomeEntertainment
https://forum.lowyat.net/ReviewsandGuides

Most are outdated, i am afraid.

And there are many new brands n models with no review... not popular here, too expensive, etc,

A couple of weeks ago, I overheard local sellers mentioning of gradual price increase as the stocks available locally depletes. I personally didn't think it would get to the stage of SOLD OUT locally.
If you are highly suspect of Overseas China Sellers, then rest assure the Overseas Shopee seller Linglang comes highly recommended. Tx3 Mini and Tx3 S905X3 should still be available as mentioned by AVFAN.

The price is only a little bit higher, but the After Sales Service provided is very satisfactory. Do review the previous customers comments who also highlights this fact in their review. I highly recommend the seller for those with zero knowledge of Android TV boxes.

There are others who prefer cheaper, and I don't fault them. These are buyers with prior knowledge of Android boxes and how to play around them.

There are those who wants a plug and play box, and again I won't fault them. New users with zero knowledge usually opt for a ready made item. However that is because these buyers didn't expect sellers to guide them step by step, and most times sellers who peddles "Fully Loaded" boxes don't offer much after sales service. Rest assure at some point in time, purchasing android boxes or even Mibox S or Nvidia Shield of FireTV, users will require to learn how to install, update and navigate apps that isn't available in Google Playstore.

And lastly there is the issue of Legality, MCMC. I think AVFAN gave a good explanation above.
The android boxes with Android OS is just another Android Phone without Screen but has a HDMI output.

The MCMC certification paraded by some Android Boxes is a 'hoax', a 'con', a 'scam' to trick unknowing consumers into thinking they are legally buying Digital Media Content for a one time fee of RM350 ~ RM800. I have written on this subject in a different thread.

Those who like to know more about One Time Pay Android Boxes so called legitimate MCMC SIRIM approved boxes, I submitted a writeup on them in another thread.

I have tested the 3.5mm AV port some time back.
In summary, it works but flawed.

I think the port is meant for AV cable with Video and Audio (L,R), and not meant for Audio output alone.

I tried with the normal earphone (without mic), and I had to adjust the plug insertion to get the proper sound on the left and right side. Even then, I felt I am not getting Stereo sound. It is more like mono sound duplicated on both speaker.

I tried with the earphone (with mic) that has 4 part copper on its plug. The result is the same, full insertion don't seem to work. I had to pull the plug out a bit to get proper sound on left and right side. Clearly not ideal and certainly don't seem to be a match.

My assumption is the AV port electronic part seems to follow different standard which requires the proper plug (jack).

As for Autoshutdown, this feature is usually built into the firmware. We see this in our phones nowadays.

As far as I know the tx3 mini don't have this feature inherently. However there are apps that can perform this on the basis that ROOT access is open to which Tx3 mini can allow. Do note if you permanently have Root Access open, then you will encounter difficulty with apps which won't work with Root Access open i.e. AstroGo and Unifi PlayTV

I haven't tested it on my Tx3, so I can't confirm. I don't see a problem of Autoshutdown as the system clock is set prior to the shutdown. I foresee a problem with Autostartup if there is one - as the Tx3 mini don't keep time once it is shutdown. Can't comment on Tx3 S905X3, as I don't own one. Maybe will get one after Raya or when the price drops back down.

My bad. That port at the back is marked spdif. Definitely not plug and play 3.5mm audio laugh.gif
Just looking some cable that maybe can convert that port so I can have 3.5mm audio out separately and plug in 3.5mm aux.
Is there such thing/cable? hmm.gif

It says spdif at the port though. Maybe there's 3.5mm to spdif? I don't know. Not familiar with spdif anyway sweat.gif
But then I wouldn't trust the colour. Like the person above said, test one by one laugh.gif

If my memory is correct, the label is wrong..... someone reported it before, i think.

If it is AV, trust me... the colors.... i used those 10, 15 years ago, not anymore.

Just checked the specifications, and also checked the back of my Tx3 mini box.

Tx3 Mini has
AV Port : AV(3 in 1) port (which uses 3.5mm and the one I tested and mentioned in my earlier post)
SPDIF: Coaxial(Optical). I believe this uses Toslink

https://shopee.com.my/TX3-Mini-Android-7.1-...2295.1428348152

TX3 S905X3
Doesn't seem to have the AV port anymore.
Only SPDIF: Coaxial(Optical).

https://shopee.com.my/TX3-Android9.0-TV-Box...2295.4608625088

I am not familiar with coax toslink audio connection. Best you ask the seller about their product. Correct me if I am wrong, I believe you are looking for a SPDIF coax to RCA converter to hook the tv box to an old hifi system.

I had a look at the Tx3 S905X3 picture, and the SPDIF connection port don't look like the Tx3 mini SPDIF port. So, best to ask the seller. Or wait for others to post their actual box SPDIF connection.

Thanks a lof AVFAN for you clarification. I assume Tx3 is a 1 time pay unit and does not hv a server. A local seller on fb approached and recommended me a RM599 EV3S with server, full english interface, full astro channels etc and stable. Until I read abt Tx3 on this thread, I didn't know the prices are so much difference. This install and maintain apps thing is easy for someone with no TVbox experience? Also, I can read chinese, Tx3 uses chinese or english interface?

tx3 4+32gb price is about rm179-189.
the seller u mentioned is trying to sell u a package of illegal apps.
once money paid, u cannot get refund if they dun work.
so, consider the money u r risking.

install and maintain apps is like those on yr android phone - not so difficult but takes some work.
note also, u cannot get good things for free.

this tx3 box is popular becos it is cheap and works easily with astrogo - but u must have id/pw from a subscriber.
same with hbogo, unifiplaytv apps.

chat more with seller, ask lots of questions.... then u understand better.
dun get conned.

Yep. Possible. Mini toslink. Similar 3.5mm aux.
Tx3 Mini though has full-size toslink/optical.

Interesting take on old MacBook though. Don't headphones normally use 3.5mm aux? I'm not familiar with toslink but they're digital output aren't they? Work with headphones? Just curious.

Mini-TOSLINK
A mini-TOSLINK adapter

Mini-TOSLINK is a standardized optical fiber connector smaller than the standard square TOSLINK connector commonly used in larger consumer audio equipment. The plug is almost the same size and shape as the ubiquitous 3.5 mm stereo minijack. Adapters are available to connect a full-size TOSLINK plug to a mini-TOSLINK socket. Combined 3.5 mm jack and mini-TOSLINK sockets exist which can accept a 3.5 mm jack or a mini-TOSLINK plug; mini-TOSLINK plugs are made 0.5 mm longer than electrical jack plugs so that the latter are too short to touch and damage the LED of combined connectors. Many laptop computer and portable digital audio equipment models, such as the Google Chromecast Audio device[8][9] and Apple AirPort Express and iPod Hi-Fi, use these connectors that allow for the insertion of 3.5 mm analog (electrical) headphone output or microphone input or mini-TOSLINK digital (optical) output.

WIki Source

So have to check with seller if the Mini-Toslink is just Fibre digital optical or allows 3.5 mm analog as well.
