My wife's EDD will be on Sept 2020. Initially we decided to deliver at PPUM. But now since the Covid19, i want to know if they still accepting??

My wife is at 4th month pregnancy. Is it ok to wait for another 2 months to decide? Or it will be too late?

*there is a speculation that MCO will be extended to June 2020*

Thanks All. Stay safe.

I suggest you book an appointment asap. They are accepting new patients but limited. They may have relaxed their restrictions a bit now though.

They've started taking bookings again since CMCO kicked in, I managed to book mine on 12 May and already went for 1st appointment in June. In your case your wife is in 6th month already, high time to go and book.

Dear all, I'm also wondering couple of things, would appreciate if you could share your experience:

1. I was told that the ones who receive your baby in the cases without complications are Medical Officers, not the higher ranking and more experienced professors, even if you do checkups with one during last months of pregnancy. Supposedly they only step in when there are any complications. How has your experience been with MOs?

2. I was also told they give you hospital robes and you are not allowed to wear your own clothes instead, is that true? blink.gif Supposedly you can only wear something underneath, like warm pants and cardigan (bc allegedly it's quite cold in the wards), but you can't opt to just wear your own stuff.

3. Are husbands now allowed to be with the wife during the delivery? I forgot to ask the doctor last time. I'm ok if they are not allowed to stay overnight - I'd rather my husband goes home and sleeps/rests, but he wants to be present during the delivery.

4. Are phones still not allowed in wards?? That's preposterous blink.gif

-------------------

Oh, and btw, for those whom this info could be useful, Malaysian deposit is not RM500 anymore, it's RM1000, and for foreigners, it's RM5000. I have also a standard service price list somewhere if interested, latest information received on 3 June 2020.

Answers:
1) Yes, it will be assigned randomly irregardless of team.
2) Yes
3) Allowed before MCO, after MCO not sure. I heard all government hospital also disallowed during MCO.
4) Phones are allowed at Ward, not labour room. Charging are not allowed.

1. True. Havent deliver yet but I was informed that I have a very low risk pregnancy, so it will be handled by MO.
2. Yes. The nurse ask me to just bring 1 set of clothes for discharge. You are not supposed to wear own clothing in the ward she said.
3. Asked about it last week. Husband not allowed during delivery. Not even into the wards after delivery. If husband bring food he will just pass it to nurse. The reason is to avoid crowd in ward and social distancing. However husband can see baby from nursery at a distance they say.
4. As far as i know phones are not allowed in delivery wards. After delivery not sure.

Hi all, does anyone have info on whether PPUM/UMMC allows us to choose to have a C section? Or do they do it only in necessary cases? Thanks in advance

No, u cant have the option to C-sec unless dc recommend you to do so. They will try their very best for you to go in natural. Unless complications or breech which don't allow to go in natural.

No there is no elective C section option in UMMC. Only if necessary.

Hi, I have been visiting Klinik KK since 3 months pregnancy and now I have decided to deliver in PPUM (5 months pregnant now). My first appointment in PPUM is around July, however, I was wondering is it necessary to go KKIA AND PPUM? I thought is either one. Or we can discuss with KKIA or PPUM to go either one? Please advise dearest mummies. Thank you.

You can go to either one but if you want to deliver in PPUM and especially if you have complications, its better to just go to PPUM. It doesnt make sense to go do your check ups in 2 places. But yoi need to inform your KK that you will be continuing you antenatal checks in PPUM. You will need to inform them when you've delivered as well.

From my experience, KK wasnt as thorough as PPUM was but i also have a few pregnancy complications and had to be admitted 2 weeks before my scheduled CS.

Good luck and congratulations!

I have the same question too. Can we just go either one?
Feel so tired to wait at KK.
It took me 2hours to get 2appointments date only at PPUM. I would prefer to spend time at one place if can.

Go both. PPUM always ask me for KK record and KK always ask me what PPUM checked.

But please attend all PPUM's checkup if you are going to deliver in PPUM. They normally need me to stay there half a day and do a lot of checking. Plus during covid, PPUM only give me appointment every 6 weeks. PPUM ultrasound is also much clearer and detail than KK.

just like other government hospitals, you will have to take care of your baby on your own.

Nurses are there 24/7 if you need help. my wife delivered at PPUM last January and she stayed there alone.
The nurses will come frequently to assist you whenever needed, they also will assist you during breastfeeding.

yes, normal with 1 night stay. no epidural tho.
the cost is less than 1k. i cant remember the exact amount but should be around rm950.00
you need to place a deposit of RM1k when you register for the first time. the deposit will be refunded if you decided to go somewhere else, provided the baby is born and submit the birth cert for the refund.

from my experience, yes. as it is a university hospital. u might need to bear with this.

sent my wife in at 1AM. you can't go in during this time as doctor will diagnose the situation first. bring all documents necessary including your deposit receipt during admission. don't need to bring anything else.

i was told that i need to stay at lobby area in case they need anything from me. i came without any preparation, so stay up for the entire night sitting on the bench at lobby. better prepare urself with travel pillow, power bank. and bear in mind, lobby got lots of mosquitos.

i was called in at 7AM when my wife had 4cm opening. this is the crucial time (at least for me). did not bring anything to the labor room except mineral water and dates as energy booster. wife was provided with some snacks and milo. just request from the doctor and nurses.
u will be asked to turn off you phone in front of the nurses at the counter, you will need to be with your wife until she ready to deliver. no go in and out from the room, so if u are smoking person, smoke enough before go in to the labor room biggrin.gif

everything settled at 10.47am. the nurses, doctors are pro active, monitoring my wife all the time, we were not left alone at any second as they periodically changing staff to be with u at all time.

after delivery, they cleaned up the baby, and gave back to my wife. the baby stayed on the my wife chest for an hour - called it skin to skin session. this is the best moment for both of us. i curi-curi took photos and videos at this time. after that, they sent us to the ward. then only i get other stuffs from the car.

this is my experience as first time parent .
