Hi, my choice to deliver is PPUM too. EDD mid March.
For me, I have a pink book - got from KKIA checkup. KKIA nurse wrote a referral letter to PPUM.
After that can go to PPUM and make a booking. Press "B" on machine to get the queue ticket. Do remember to bring pink book along. The first visit is basically to set a date for next visit which includes registration, consultation and ultrasound scan.

Hi mummy,

Can you update your delivery experience there? I'm planning to go there by this end August, I'm very nervous as this is my first time. Thanks.

Hi are you under government or FPP in PPUM? I just found out (6 weeks) and currrently researching on where to checkup and deliver. So far checked once in private clinic. Did they collect deposit from yoiu?
*
Hey there. No we're not from government and as far as I know PPUM does not offer FPP. Our first appointment with doctor will be on 13th June and by then we'll have to put down RM500 deposit.

Our second baby were delivered at PPUM, had to go for induce due to baby size. Total cost was around rm700.
Wife had to stay there for 2 night, and no phone allowed, so can only get update by calling the labour ward.

Btw I missed the delivery as they called called me up quite late. Wife went into labour at 4pm, but they called me at 4.30pm and by the time I reach hospital at 4.50pm, all done.

Hi there, I had a good impression on PPUM. Was being warded at 4 bedrooms - nurses was helpful. You cannot choose your preferred doctor as they are on shifts. But at the same time a lot of housemens around to keep you and your baby safe and sound.

What is your concern on choosing PPUM? You may address it here - I try to answer with what I can remember. You may need to make appointment and deposit at week 28 to 'secure' your place there. Remember to bring your pink book along.

Me and wife just made our booking to deliver at PPUM today. Wife is currently 14 weeks pregnant but in fact you can make your booking from 12th week onwards. Appointment for April and May is all taken so our first appointment with doctor will be in June, so my advise is make your booking early or else you will be denied to deliver in PPUM.

All these while we did our checkup at private clinic, so not necessary to have the buku merah, just get all the scan reports and if possible, a referral letter from your private clinic doctor. Bring all your documents and head to Klinik Ginekologi. It's a bit of walking from the parking lot.

Arrived at klinik ginekologi and there's already a huge crowd at 8:30am. Press B on the machine to get a queueing number and was pleasant to find out there's only 4 person ahead of us, so waited for about 20 mins, submit the reports and chose our first appointment date with doctor. Together we have to make booking for an ultrasound scan.

Overall everything was good, and got to know husband will be able to accompany wife into the labour room now.

I have notice some inaccurate information on the above posts.

Correct info are as follows.
1) booking can be made at PPUM klinik antenatal counter as soon as you know you are pregnant. Just bring what ever photo/report from private clinic or pink book if you went to Klinik Kesihatan earlier. No referral letter is required.
2) first check up appointment is usually 2 months later from your booking date.
3) need to pay RM500 deposit + RM 31 registration during first check up. Inborn Error of Metabolism Test (RM80 - Optional) payable during first appointment if you wish to do it when your baby is born later.
4) earliest first check up appointment will be in July 2019 now.

For the first point, is it true? Because we called twice to confirm and both operator told us the same thing - which is 12th week and above. I suppose this could be their SOP because within the first 12 weeks miscarriage is common so they wanna reduce the risks.

Just walk in and get a number. Wait for your queue and pass them your pink book or ultrasound images. Blue card also for UM patients. Sure they won’t reject you. NT scan or Down syndrome scan will be done at UM for those who booked earlier. Each ultrasound scan only cost you RM20.

bear in mind that they will give you a booking form. after receive the booking form, you need to go to ultrasound department for scan appointment and they will give you an appointment form for ultrasound. in short, you have to be there personally.

Hi,

Thanks for the helpful info. May i know if i can just make an appointment via UMSC’s website itself? Or do I need to make a phone call to make an appointment? Or do I need to walk in to register? I am planning to deliver there and have been going for check ups at another private hospital.

Thanks.

I don't think you can make your appointment other than being there yourself.

Booking is usually 2 months in advance, so if you book now your appointment will be somewhere in August. Book early to avoid risk of being denied service.

Okay. Noted with thanks. I realised there’s an option to make an appointment via the website itself. So wondering can i just make the appointment straight there for first timer. I’ll give them a call first then.

UMSC- University Malaya Specialist Center is the private hospital, i think u can make appointment via phone call. Your bill can compete with Sunway Medical Center.

You’re right. I just called them up to make an appointment and asked them about the charges. Not much difference from Sunway Medical Center :/

look at the title. PPUM=Pusat Perubatan Universiti Malaya or UMMC. Not UMSC.
