I was NOT acknowledged about this charge. I went back to my room, received the email receipt, then noticed 'others- RM2'(using GrabPay). That's why I reported to Grab(first thought their system error charge me more). If the driver let me know at the main gate he would have to charge me extra RM2, I would be happy to pay too, especially the case will not drag so long. He drove me to hostel as agreed, therefore I am willing to pay. Does it sound fair to you right now?

It was not until Grab notified me about the change of drop-off, and I check the map only know drop off actually set at main gate. It has been a habit to select the location and not looking at the map, my ignorance. If I knew that earlier, yes, I will drop off at the main gate. I confessed the truth. Believe or not, up to you. Don't select x University as destination, use pin location as destination, problem solved. Just pin precisely and ask driver go exact location without additional charges. Learn how to use pin location if you haven't, make sure to zoom in your map to the max.

Usually driver should tell before he charge extra, charge directly without telling especially using Grabpay is sneaky as fuck imo, I would never risk doing that asking for bullshits.

Breakdown in communication. Rider didn't select exact destination. Driver didn't notify before extra charge. All this bad feeling could have been avoided if both sides talk to each other lor

I think some time is not fair for driver to drive all the way in to condo since it easily take up 5min (some need to register this that...) maybe Grab should have a function to do concierge charge if rider want to be pick/drop inside condo. Sometime it's just frustrated when the drop off block just infront of the main gate, rider can just walk like 10 steps in but still want driver to drop off.

"Surprise" charges are quite common when using Grab so for me I de-link my credit card. But of course if you want convenience you need to be prepared to have fees auto-deducted without driver informing you.
