2. my air ticket is return from surabaya, so is advice for the train trip to jogyakarta?
3. do train in Indon on time? if delay, will delay how much? possible to delay by day or 12 hours?

1. Merapi is much, much harder than Kinabalu
2. Don't understand your question, are you're asking if it's advisable to take train from surabaya to jogja? If so, then yes. In indo, train is more comfortable and in a lot of cases, faster than bus
3. Their trains are quite punctual, no worries

Hi all,

Got lots of questions regarding Jogja. Hopefully can get the answers (or at least some of the answers) here.

1) I plan to rent a car for city driving in the city area. Do I need any special documentation (ie. International driving license, local driving license)? What do I need to ask from car rental company (ie. car insurance, grant etc.)?

2)I plan to rent a motorcycle and ride it to Borobudur temple. Is it safe to do so? Do I need to tell the motorcycle rental company that I am going to the temple instead of city driving? Do they charge extra if I say I will ride it to Borobudur temple? Do they provide helmet and documentation for motorcycle rental?

3) I have leftover HKD and USD and wish to exchange them to IDR at jogja. Any recommended and reliable money changer?

4) I read on the internet that Taxi from airport to city (I stay in grand aston) cost a fixed rate of 50k. Is that still true? What about taxi from my hotel to airport? Do I need to call for Taxi to get from hotel to airport or just wait outside my hotel? Any recommended taxi driver at jogja?

5) Beside fabric products, any recommended souvenir to buy? Any food that I can buy and bring back?

6) How much is the taxi cost from grand aston to Malioboro street? Do I need to call taxi to go there (and back to hotel) or do I just wait outside hotel for taxi?

I know there are lots of questions. Appreciate if anyone here can help answer some (or all smile.gif ) questions here. Thank you and good day!

p/s: I am travel with an elderly so travel by bus is not possible.

I'm planning a short excursion (say 5-6 days) to yogja. Particularly i want to see Dieng Pleataue.

Any thoughts about:
1. budget, excluding plane tix?
2. Is it worthy to spend ~3d just to go to Dieng?

Thanks biggrin.gif
